Common Questions and Answers about How to take femara for infertility

femara

Avatar f tn Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?
Avatar f tn I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have used clomid for conception but to no avail. How else can i achieve pregnancy.
Avatar f tn how long is a typical cycle of femara (2.5mg)? what are the success rates with this in infertility? This discussion is related to Femara 2.5 mg.
1697057 tn?1351540435 I fixed the appointment today the 12th of June (cd 4) and he told me to take 2 tablets a day for five days and then intercourse every two days after that. I've had no luck past month with merional injection and choriomon(hcg trigger). I have had a hysterosalpiogram and my tubes were fine, have regular ovualtion and every month I produce around 10 follicles on one side and eight on the other.
Avatar f tn I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!
257175 tn?1204161973 I tried to ask for Femara, but my RE wouldn't give it to me since it is not FDA approved for fertility and is sanctioned as a breast cancer drug. I wish they would've though!
374593 tn?1257879950 What are your opinions on Lupron for 3-6 months post-op, in order to achieve pregnancy in a patient with mod-severe endometriosis? From what i've ready I can't find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I, too, used to take Clomid and now, I take Femara! Clomid was awful - I turned into a horrific person on it, but I didn't have any side effects with Femara. I do take my Femara differently than most, though...I take 10 pills on CD3 at the same time and that's it!! It works very well for me and it's helped me ovulate sooner (I was a late ovulater) and thereby, shortened my cycles!! Good luck!
Avatar f tn For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn is that it stimulates ovulation. Of course the dose you take for fertility purposes is much lower compared to taking it for breast cancer. I did a little research on my own and found that Letrozole is actually much safer than clomid. I've been on letrozole for three months now, and I don't have any of the side effect I had with clomid. I have had good and healthy ovulation since I started taking it. Good luck and baby dust to you!
Avatar f tn IUI could help. I would talk to your doctor about it.
Avatar f tn Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction. I've also heard of femara working for PCOS women, and some times more invaisive proceedures are needed.
1626928 tn?1378850167 Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Thank you i have been trying to get clomid but don't no who i should speak to as my consultant at the hospital is not understanding and suspects endo but hasn't put ne on the list for the operation yet but my gp is amazing
560813 tn?1281606868 femara but it seems like everybodies post that takes the same meds all seem to take a smaller or different dose than myself..I take femara 2.5 but 3 pills once aday on my last u/s i had 2 smaller follies but docs nurse advised to wait she thinks they won't become any larger so taking my menopur was not advised for this month but I was thinking anymonth I have any size follies are good for me becus I have had several mnths with nothing at all even with meds before...
Avatar f tn We did 3 rounds of IUI before moving on to ivf. Number of IUI cycles depepnds on reasons for infertility and your history. If you think IUI can work for you I would try a few mmore times with injectables since ivf is very invasive.
216278 tn?1308861082 m not familiar with Armour or DHEA, but I am taking femara (on my third cycle), and it seems like most of us on femara take it days 3-7 (one or two pills a day)...similar to how you would take clomid. So I'm sure the 10 pills in one day would really kick-start things ;-) Best of luck to you!
795248 tn?1250686616 We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!
1007532 tn?1332767926 thanks all for your coments and advice. my doc gave me Prometrium to have a period and a low dose birth control to help regulate it .. I now have a period so we shall see what happens next month!!! Have a great day !!!
Avatar f tn But is your problem now over trying, have you been through the temperature taken process to find the best time to have sex and hopfully get pregnant, see me and the wife never had that problem with b/c as she could not have the pill, but its a deep subject, you should be able to find lots to read on line for pointers, slow sperm, low sperm count, mucus to thick to allow sperm to travel through it, and there is lots more.
Avatar f tn With your thin lining I would definitely bring it up, as femara should not do this. But it may take awhile for all the clomid to get out of your system since it has a long half life and you have been on it for 5 months. Did they put you on progesterone after ovulation? My lining was only 6mm on the cycle I triggered which resulted in my daughter but I started the progesterone after ovulation which they said would also help build it up and it seemed to be enough for her to stick!
398038 tn?1247857003 We tried clomid for several cycles, then switched to femara. On the 2nd cycle of femara, it worked! I am 17 weeks pregnant. So I really think the monitoring was important in my case. Good luck!
458314 tn?1206259703 Laproscopy can treat endometriosis temporarily for a year or 2, helping you to conceive. Femara also lately is being used to cure endometriosis. And yes, endometriosis is a cause of infertility, however it is not that bad...atleast it is cureable and not unexplained.
1530658 tn?1299766324 So i charted temps did got a cbfm and i took meds for 8 rounds which brought me to Nov. I decided to take a break with no meds and my ob had referred me to an RE so Jan 29 2011 i saw the RE and she said well your thyroid level is in normal rangebut on the high end so she put me on Synthroid to keep my hormone in check. She also put me on Metformin 3 X a day because it helps women with pcos.
328927 tn?1227761840 I got pregnant on my first cycle and used femara for cd3-5 I was to take till cd 7 but it gave me bad headaches!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont know if it helped but we were pregnant!!
950954 tn?1271210887 Hey thats fine....So I hope the shower went okay...I dread going to those things...But I do go to them...Yeah I did somemore researching on the med femara...And I have read alot of success stories for women that didn't respond very well using clomid...So i also did some more digging and found a 30 day risk free trial of the femara...Yay...That will last me for 3 months...Hope I don't need to take it that long, though...By doing that free trial it saved me $120 a month...Yippee...
Avatar f tn I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?
509981 tn?1210965313 Hi. I understand your concern. When my doc first prescribed this, I of course went to the internet for info since she didn't provide any and I came across a lot of information about birth defects. Like Tina said, it gets processed very quickly by your body and will not still be around when implantation occurs. I was sure to monitor my temps and also use HPT's to make sure I definitely wasn't pregnant before starting another round.
