I currently take minocycline (for about 8 months now) and use benzoyl peroxide nightly (for about 2 years) on the affected area,, which seems to be only below my mouth and on my chin. My acne seems to be under control in other areas e.g my back, but recently i tried to stop using benzoyl peroxide and have now got large cystic breakouts on my chin area....so have started using bp again.
i pick at them cuz it is a bad habbit, i need to kno the cheapest most best acne meds i can use even oral meds?
But don't stop when you see improvement! Generally you will need to keep up your acne-battle routine until you are on the other side of adolescence.
Hi Ally. As you have found, acne treatments available to the public are of limited benefit and you really need to see your doctor. He can prescribe a topical retinoid gel such as Differin and/or a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline which will work much better than Pro-active. Female acne patients will also benefit from taking the combined oral contraceptive pill since the oestrogen it contains blocks the action of androgens- the hormones responsible for acne. Eloise.
If you even pick or scratch at the spots, you ought to stop. In any case, however, you'll need acne treatment, which may include external or internal antibiotics or even Accutane. Boils on the body are another matter still. They are often caused by staph germs and have no direct relationship with acne. Basically, you need a dermatologist to evaluate all these problems in person. If your current dermatologist has run out of ideas, you may want to consider getting another opinion. Best.
I went to my dermo and he gave me hydrocortisone valerate to use for two weeks and told me to stop using my differin for the time being. The spots around my neck and ears cleared up wonderfully and it seemed as though my chin cleared up ok, so after the two weeks I stopped with the hydrocortisone valerate and began to use this new face cream he gave me (starts with an s forget the name right now) after the first day of using it my chin flared up again and it stung.
This is different to the acne I'm used to. He suggested 2mg/kg/day but I'm on 1 now to avoid a bad breakout. I've read about perioral dermatitis and have started using a non SLS toothpaste but no effect so far. I have no spots above the lip. Someone mentioned using keteronazole (nizoral) but that has SLS in. I tried azaleic acid, it did nothing. My derm prescribed daktacort but that has a steroid in it, I read these can make things worse.
After about a month I saw a dermatologist who gave me desonide ointment, it makes the bumps disappear and my skin to smooth but the redness persists and as soon as I stop it flares right back up (getting worse over time). He cultured it at the time and was only able to tell me that it wasn't fungal. After a month I saw him again, I quit the desonide for a 1.5 days so the rash would flare and be good and nasty and he cultured it for herpes this time, culture came back negative.
A few days ago, I went to rest my chin on my hand, and I noticed a vague bruise-like pain just under my chin. When I touched just under my chin, seemingly attached to the right side of the chin bone, just to the right of that center line where the two sides of the lower jaw meet, I felt a very hard, immobile bump. It will not budge---I've pressed on it with all my might from each side and from straight up; it's hard as bone, but I cannot tell if it's definitely attached to the jaw/chin.
bumps all over my chin. How in the world can I stop this or at least slow it down. I am using Proactiv to for my acne & it's helping with lightening the dark spots on my chin but that only lasts a couple days since more bumps are always coming.
Our blonde kitty gets feline acne on one spot on his chin. I'll frequently clean it with my face wash and that seems to help. We also replaced his plastic dish with a metal one. It helped for a while, but now he gets it in that one spot still. Last time I cleaned it the black stuff came off with the fur, almost like a scab. He didn't care much, it didn't hurt him. He also has a metal water dish. We clean the dishes regularly so I'm not sure why he keeps getting acne.
i have had bumps , expeically cystic acne for 33 years, up until 4 months ago i was a pimple face, i decided to stop drinking milk. i know drink almond milk it is free from the hormones that milk produces. i use this device called tanda its a blue light therapy it works for me, a bit expensive but worth it and i also use aspirin masks and apple cider vinegar as a cleanser. try not to eat soda , chips and milk and see what happens?
it would probably have to be in large quantities per my dr but just to be on the safe side they really dont know how much gets to the baby. i know its crazy but when i get bad acne i take a dead sea salt bath and leave a wash cloth on my face so it can soak in while i relax in the tub. salt soothes the skin and kills the bacteria. just a suggestion.
I got them around the same time as you and used neutrogena acne face wash but I think you have to just wait till they clear up on their own - by 16 wks they seemed to clear up a bit for me ( I'm havin a girl!
My daughter suffers from the tiny closed bumps all over her face (mostly on cheeks, chin and forehead). and nothing seems to help. We just started our vacation at a beach house on the ocean and I too think that the salt and sun (with non-pore clogging suncreen of course) will help her out some. I'll let you know.
Best advice on the symptoms that you describe is go see a Dermatology MD and let her/him treat it and tell you how to stop or lessen the outbreaks.
My chin blew up with 3 horrible cysts that took weeks to clear and another 2 weeks for the scars to slowly disappear. My face was in pain, once the chin started to heal one appeared on the side of my nose, and another on my chin. In Feb. I went to a dermatologist for the first time in my life and received no answers. I was told to stop using the oil cleanser, start using more and more chemicals and no moisturizer????
Like during the day I can feel that the T zone is oily, especially the chin. I don't know what to do anymore. I am tired of concealer and foundation. Excuse my English, I am not native. Thank you.
Im going to give it two more packs, if that doesnt work then I'll have to try something else. Tell me how its working out, Im sure you are on your 3rd month now.
scrubs can instigate and increase the rate at which the skin expells the bacteria, so it can be helpful to pull out the acne, however if consistent acne persists it may annoy you by making your acne white heads present all the time.
it looked like a teeny blackhead so i took a tweezer to pull it out and as i pulled on it ,my face started to ache all the way up to my forhead . my complexion is usually clear, a zit here and there on my chin during my period but thats about it . well i continuted to mess with it and of course made it 10x worse . its cleard up now but has a bump underneath the new skin . would this just be scar tissue ? then the other day i started getting a zit right below my lower lip.
So basically, I am just about 14 weeks pregnant and since I found out, I have had terrible acne around my chin area that just doesn't seem to let up. It's very frustrating for me because I was always one of those people who never got zits except one little one around the time of my period. I have been using the same cleanser on my face since before I got pregnant and now it doesn't seem to be working. Basically my chin looks like a "connect-the-dots"!!!
I'm about 7 weeks as well and I too have acne...on my back, neck and along my chin. One of the flattering facts of pregnancy I've learned. I just keep in mind that it's the hormones and it won't have it forever. If I stress over it it'll probably get worse.
My son is 7 weeks old and I have this horrible rash like acne happening on my chin. I am breast feeding and assuming it is due to the hormone canges. All the comments have made me feel better knowin it s normal..but disheartened that it may not clear up anytime soon.
I was prescribed Venlafaxine (Effexor) to help me deal with the anxiety and social phobia I felt due to my acne. It has really helped me, and not increased my acne. Acne is not mentioned as a potential side effect of Effexor in the leaflet enclosed with the pills. DO NOT stop taking Effexor suddenly because serious withdrawal symptoms may occur. I have reduced from 150mg daily to 75mg and I'm now on 37.5mg. See your doctor for a suitable acne medication. Oral antibiotics can be helpful.
If you want to remain a vegetarian, how can one cut out all these greens ? Almost every staple of a vegetarian diet has phytoestrogens!
Go on Dianette (Diane 35 in the USA) first. You have to agree to be on the contraceptive pill before they'll give you accutane anyway as you must not get pregnant on accutane. You may find the dianette clears your acne on it's own, if not go on accutane. If your doctor is offering accutane s/he obviously thinks your acne is severe enough to warrant it. Severity is not just about how bad the spots are, but also about how much they affect you. A course of accutane lasts between 16 and 24 weeks.
