My 15 year old male tabby is licking fur off his belly and hind legs. I tried orange bitters, but he would just throw up all over the place....I'm wondering if the new carpet in my apt is the culprit. Or the new cat tree a friend gave me. It was well aired out it had been in storage for over a year, and I shampooed it with cat shampoo and let it dry. Could this be the cause? He is a indoor cat, no flees, no redness or sores were he licks either. I have been in this apt for 5 months now.
been dealing with the same thing for a long time. I believe there carpet beetles. When there in the larvae stage they eat your hair follicles. I've tried to seek treatment multiple times including today because there also in my cat. Everytime I tell people because I'm a large muscler male they tell me it's scabies which it's not because I haven't gone around anyone because I too have had to shave my head and Beard.

After making a trip to Africa I slept in a bed that had like sand on it. Now I have sand-like particles and sometimes like large salt crystals (3mm) coming out of my skin. Sometimes it is like white particles. I have about 200 of these coming out of my skin every day, all parts of the body but particularly Skalp, hands, tips of fingers and under rings, soles of feet, behind, back. I have non-healing pimple-like lesions on my thigh, chest, arm and neck made by the salt crystals.
So my cat has been pooping in the litter box with the same litter inside all of her life. Now she is deciding to poop in the hallway, away from her litter box. I will put her in front of the litter box, and even put her in the litter box (well shove her in is more like it) and she'll just pop out and run away from it and continue to defecate on the said carpet. She'd poop on the old carpet and now is pooping on the new carpet that has been put in a few weeks ago.

but I really suspect a hairball, the food treatment for these doesn't really work that well. and if its liquid he's bringing up it could be because if theres a blockage and he can't get it up to remove it(hairball) it would be irritating and he'd keep choking to try, the liquid would be 'bile' bypassing.
As you can imagine this carpet is not good for my health. I often wake up with sinus problems. I would prefer not to sleep on a bed, but am open to it if I can not resolve it some other way.
My first thought is to cover the area I lie on with some sort of covering that separates me from the carpet. I am told the air near the ground will still be the problem, however.
I took her to the vet. The vet asked me to change the cat little to cheap clumping clay. Put her poo on to her tray open uncover. Take her to smell and she quickly cover up by the clumping clay. Once she covered, I scooped it out. She gets back to her little tray till now. Not missed one outside the tray so far.
