Does anyone know about the scarring after-effects of accutane? I've read several reports of scarring left after it's use. I'm sure that scars are to be expected, as with any open wound, but I don't know if these reports are by anyone with abnormalities with healing/scarring. Here is the situation...
I have mild, maybe slightly moderate acne. I get keloids on other parts of my body, but thankfully not my face. I still get abnormal facial scarring though.
I have been getting large pimples over the last year or so. I will have one pop up every 6-8 weeks. Some of them turned into boils, maybe because of me picking at them, I'm not sure.
One of them on my lower back became a boil, this was about 2 months ago. After doing some internet searching, one of the websites recommended applying warm compresses to the boils to bring them to a head. When I tried this on my boil, it caused blisters to form all over the surrounding area.
About twenty years ago I was treated with a prescription cortisone cream for an allergic reaction on my cheeks. I continued to use it nightly for a couple of years even though the rash resolved in about a month. It just made my cheeks feel really good. My dermatologist told me it could cause thinning of my skin so I stopped.
A couple of months ago I woke up to fing a pock mark on my cheek. I never had acne or any infection in that spot.

You must wait 6 months after finishing Accutane treatment before having such procedures done because of the increased risk of scarring already fragilised skin.
Oral retinoids can cause facial redness and it has only been 3 months since you finished Accutane.
If the acne scars are fairly new, then aloe vera applied during your nighttime facial regimen will help reduce the acne scarring redness of the spots over a few weeks. At age 21, this should be a good treatment. For quicker results (and little more expensive), salicylic acid peels and microdermabrasion treatments done by an aesthetician or a dermatologist will also help reducing scar tissue by removing the top layer(s) of skin - there's a noticeable difference after 2-3 treatments.
Anyway, I was just curious if blue light or red light treatment would help, and can I use the light treatment while on Accutane? If not, what else could I do to reduce the appearance of the red marks? The acne is on my chest and is very hard to look at. I live in Florida and it is very hot and I cannot take off my shirt with this look. It seems to not be fading at all. Thanks for your help.

I've read various reviews on using hydrocortisone cream for the face with people stating it thins out your skin and worsens acne symptoms.
I finally decided that my acne was troublesome enough to see a dermatologist. It isn't just the acne, but mainly the resulting scars that made me decide to seek the help of a professional. I get keloids on most of my body, but not on my face. I do have abnormal/excessive scarring on my face, but I wouldn't compare it to the keloids on my body. The facial scars are generally quite flat, but brightly pigmented (the color of inflamed acne, unfortunately).
My dermatologist said to wait to see if it heals and returns to my skin color (light brown). How long will it take for the red spot to go away...
He suggested that it would not be worth doing electrocatery on the other bumps if they turn out to stay red... I am worried the red spot won't go away.. Is there anything I should do to help my natural skin color return to normal. Thanks.
If all you have over a year after finishing Accutane is a coupe of pimples now and then, you're unlikely to have to do anything more than apply a topical anti-acne cream. Once you're through a course of Accutane, the skin often does break out a bit, but responds to simple treatments that never worked for you before. Ask a doctor to look you over and prescribe such a cream. No need to be worried.

I have been working on clearing my skin from acne and have been taking roaccutane (30mg) for 4 months, so is there a problem if I continue that treatment? how can I try to minimize scaing as much as possible, as it is the main reason why I wanted to treat my acne and now with these huge blisters all over, I´m having a panic attack!!

well i didnt consider id have a bad reaction to them so when i broke out with acne and then a rash around my mouth i thought it was due just to dry skin. i was wrong. i guess i had an allergic reaction i started them on a wednesday and thursday is when i broke out. my face is the only place that has gotten bad ive been using tea tree oil and its been healing all the acne and even some scarring but the rash is there. its like a lightish red patch. its just dry.

Hi, a couple of months ago, as the title of this post sugests ive started to get some acne mainly on my upper back and now also on my shoulders too. Cant believe it how it looks now and how it used to look (i was clear, and even used to make fun of my sister's acne on her back!). Damn puberty... =p

hello just to let you know about my acne and acne scarring ! im over the moon i started getting micro dermabrasion and also using duac once daily cream and i havent had any breakouts and my skin is so smooth and only ever get one spot with pmt and periods im so happy because ive never had clear skin since i was like 11 !
any input greatly appreciated. Does scarring in itself reduce left ventricle function? If so, how?!
