Avatar f tn It seems that you really do love horses and are passionate about riding and taking care of horses! I do not know your mother's reasons for not allowing you to have a horse at this time, but perhaps you can talk to her and understand her point of view? having your own horse can be VERY expensive. Not only the price of the horse, but the board, the farrier, the Veterinarian,. any medical expenses, your riding lessons, your tack, riding gear, etc. Maybe this is the reason? Also, about time..
Avatar f tn there's something called placental abruption.. the placenta basically peels away from the inner wall of your uterus - this can be caused by a "jolt" of any sort.. and I would think riding a horse could cause that jolt, no matter how gentle or well-trained the horse is. the horse could step in a hole, miss a step, gallop too hard, etc. I've always heard not to ride a horse, ride a roller coaster, anything that could jolt the placenta too hard..
1361358 tn?1277631522 You have to prove to your father that you are willing to commit to the big committment of horse care. It is not just about the money, it's time management as well. I don't mean to be harsh but it is your only option until you are old enough to go it alone.

1202829 tn?1265514881 Please see my response below to the poster who wanted information about how to get her mom to let her get a horse. I would say the same to you as your situations are similar. Good Luck!
667078 tn?1316000935 My friend and I were trying to figure out how to get me up there. We tried one bail of hay too short. Then two but it wobbled. Finally we stacked them against the wall. It was still wobbly but I was up. My friend who owns the horse is not a horseman. At one point the horse decided I had to go which is normal. My friend started getting really worried as the horse started to rear and buck. I told her to stand back I was fine. I stayed with the horse and she calmed down.
867582 tn?1311627397 Jeez, my daughter used to help run our riding classes for the disabled and the MS Society local riding days, she had people riding horses who were in wheelchairs. Come to Aussie, I could find you somewhere to ride :-) My horse is yeah a baby, only just 4 but was turned out to grow and mature, it's spring here and all the lovely grass is coming through, I love him, but it has scared me a bit, I am not a teenager anymore and the bounce has gone.
Avatar f tn I have 15 horses and it is tough. Best thing to do to keep your mind is just be around them. You can still clean stalls, turnout, groom, and if you know your horse well enough you can still ride as long as you are comfortable and your balance is still ok...just keep to a walk and it's always best to have someone close by.
Avatar f tn I have a lot of medical tests. Fear makes it worse. I have learned to not let fear get away from me. I have pictures of my favorite things. 8 x 10's I take them whenever I have anything that is scary. I think about the pictures and it gets my mind off the tests. I like riding horses. The day before my hysterectomy I went out riding with friends they took pictures. I also have my pets, my husband, vacations, favorite art work. These pictures all make me smile.
1268150 tn?1271954794 If so, how do you deal? How are you able to take the time with them and take care of them? I just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I've had Bipolar disorder for 13 years. I have had horses, dogs, and cats all my life. Since I was diagnosed with fibro, I don't know how to take care of them like I should. For instance, I have a one month old colt and I haven't been able to train him. I also have a three year old gelding that I raised and now is about to be broke to ride.
186166 tn?1385259382 o) There seems to be quite a few women on forum who own horses. One of the girls on one of the forums transports horses (airplane) as part of how she makes a living. I remember when I first read that, I had to smile to myself because though she was in no way bragging, I knew she knew her stuff. Transporting horses is not something that just anyone can do - as I know you would know. Well good luck with your new horse. It certainly does sound exciting to become part of a Search and Rescue Team.
Avatar f tn My doctor said I could until 36 weeks BUT WHEN I was pregnant with my last I was hard headed I was 33 weeks I talked my bf into taking me riding on a horse u could sit a baby on and she would be so easy well needless to say while we were riding she bellied down with me on her and I fell .
615350 tn?1272598969 everyone is different, but the riding can be dangerous.....rollercoasters r also on a list of things to avoid....to view the entire list please go to our Heath Pages and look for activities to avoid with chiari and syringomyelia.
8379527 tn?1397863810 I would trust your doctor. Plus if you ride that much I'm sure you know how to properly ride a trot; a lot of people just bounce all over the place and that's not good at all. However you have to do what is best for you if you feel you shouldn't do it, or if down the road your doctor says it's no longer safe.
Avatar n tn Not safe anymore, sorry! I love horse riding too and we'll just have to put it aside for some months now!
Avatar f tn Talk this over with your parents so they can get you therapy to learn how to break free of this fear. Good luck and take care!

Avatar n tn I have had a toothache/facepain for over two weeks, I know I need to go and see a dentist but I have a great fear of going because of cetain circumstances that happened while going to the dentist as a child. I have been taking advil for the pain and most times it is tolerable but now it seems to be getting worse as it is keeping me awake at night.
Avatar f tn I grew up doing a lot of horseback riding and had lessons in English hunter-jumper, Western pleasure, and on my own horses I did a lot of bareback riding. English hunter-jumper is my favorite riding style. I hope I can get another horse someday...I know my son is just as horse-crazy as I am and he'd love to learn to ride, and I would be beyond thrilled to teach him! As for team sports--baseball. I love that game!
