blood

Avatar f tn There is nothing you can do to increase your platelets naturally, however sometimes as your blood volume stabilizes it will increase on its own.
Avatar f tn html To my knowledge there are no dietary means to increase platelets. Do you have cirrhosis? How low were your platelets previously? Platelets at 170,000 is by far sufficient to participate in HCV therapy. I was also tested for vitamin D and found to be deficient. I take 5000 units D3 orally to supplement. Your doctor can guide you on dosage.
340734 tn?1256586262 I post this because I saw Bohan54's journal about wallowing. Well, wallow away because this is an important issue for all of us that have or had Chemo and should be addressed. I tried searching the "expert" forum to see if there were any posts asking on how to increase low platelets and there wasn't a hit that had an answer (not even from community forums and this question was asked in both the cancer and nutrition forums.
Avatar m tn Pranayam is about getting more oxygen into the lungs and sending it around the body via blood to aid in body repair. With extra oxygen more platelets and red blood cells are formed in the blood to build up the immune system. All this happens naturally without side-effects.People with all types of ailments including incurable ones will benefit. Tell the medical advisor that you are doing pranayam and also tell others. Only by trying you will discover the benefits.
Avatar f tn my body just aches all the time, i only feel better when i double up on vitamins.since then i have had blood work done 3 times and my platelets are climbing and sometimes they go down a little bit, but slowly keep coming up. my white blood count was normal but over the last 3 weeks they shot up by 3000. i have been tested ofr hiv 5 times and the last test being on the 14th of march, they are all negative. i was concerned due to a very low risk possible exposure not certain.
Avatar n tn Platelets are produced in your bone marrow. A medical problem that involves your bone marrow, such as occurs with leukemia and some types of anemia, could lead to a reduction in the number of new platelets produced. Viral infections, including HIV infection, may suppress your bone marrow's ability to make platelets. Other cancers that affect bone marrow, chemotherapy drugs and heavy alcohol consumption also can impair platelet production.
1418633 tn?1314546745 s then i started papaya leaf juice and now my platelets are back to normal(post treatment).Guess it means either papaya leaf juice works :) or the treatment is not working :(.I'm counting on the former.Going for my HCV RNA test tomorrow after 4th shot.Hope things work out for good.
Avatar f tn re not making enough platelets to keep blood thick enough to keep it from oozing out (not a good explanation of platelets but the simplest I can make it). The only way to fix low platelets is to reduce the amount of interferon in the weekly shot. That's not a major concern for you, since you've been on meds so long (over 7 mos.).
1693621 tn?1318902971 However, my doctor believes it can also increase platelets. Not a substantial increase, but it was enough to allow me to start treatment. My plateles went from 39 to 61 in the months prior to starting triple therapy.
Avatar f tn Apparently some cancer patients take as much as 20 mg. to keep their platelets up, but I was afraid to try that much. If you try this, read all about melatonin first. I think there is some concern that it can lower your bodies capacity for making it's own melatonin but we weighed that risk with the fact that this is my husbands third attempt at treatment and he can't afford any dosage cuts. He had taken 3 mg. a night for about a year before upping it to 10 mg.
190885 tn?1333025891 brought my riba up to 800...my hgb...10.9 !!!! my white..2.0.....my platelets 141.....my nuta count 0.8.......pretty dam good i thought....the procrit really did it.....
Avatar f tn The same way too much weight lifting will retard your growth, doing stretching exercises regularly will enable your body to stretch in length more easily and naturally (or even increase you height more than it would have had you not stretched.) It is said that the founder of Aikido, Murehei Ueshiba, once increased his height in order to be accepted in the military, by hanging himslef in a tree.
Avatar f tn When my husband started on Procrit, his treatment nurse mentioned that she sometimes also sees a slight boost in platelets in patients using Procrit to raise hemoglobin. Not sure how accurate that is, but she explained that because Procrit works by stimulating bone marrow, it also may increase platelet production slightly in some individuals along with increasing rbc production.
Avatar n tn she is always low on red blood cells and platelets and high on white blood cells.her platelets always drop to about 1000-3000.does this affect her energy and alert level?will topping up of her platelets cause her to build antibodies?will give red blood cells also increase platelet count?
Avatar m tn Hi, 33,000 is very low, what has your doctor said? Have they reduced your medication?...or given you a rescue drug? Could you say what medication you are on? What Geno Type you are? The results of your biopsy or fibroscan? More information would help others help you with information.
Avatar n tn Anyway, her paltelets drop as low as 12 and when they were under 20, the doctor wanted to give her blood transfusions and blood platelet transfusions, but decided to just put her on the prednisone. She has tried various natural treatments to boost her platelets with no success.
Avatar n tn One reason for spontaneous nose bleeds could be advanced liver disease; the spleen can ‘sequester’ blood platelets when cirrhosis is present. If platelets become very low, blood will no longer form clots and spontaneous bleeding can become a problem. More significantly, bleeding can occur in the esophagus, in some cases this can become an emergency situation. They can be remedied easily enough by band ligation; but needs to be addressed.
408795 tn?1324935675 The spleen stores red and white blood cells and platelets (fragment of cells that are used to clot blood). An enlarged spleen traps platelets lowering levels in the blood which can lead to the inability of blood to clot. This is called Thrombocytopenia and is common in people with cirrhosis. You don't necessarily have any physical symptoms with an enlarged spleen. Is there a better way to guide the progression of HepC than a liver biopsy?
Avatar m tn If your doctor is trying to prepare you for additional IFN treatment, then perhaps the planned splenectomy is an effort to increase platelet counts; interferon itself can cause thrompocytopenia, and surgical resection of the spleen can increase platelets, possibly qualifying you for additional treatment. You understand that portal hypertension and platelets at 39,000 are indicative of cirrhosis, right? What has been discussed in this regard?
Avatar m tn just usee it,do your check up every month on the advise of your doctor, after test doctor knows that there is how much quantity of haemoglobin, and platelets in your blood, after that he advise u medicines.dont use any kind of un necesory medicines.
