flexibility

Avatar n tn How would you work on your legs and especially the knee area of fat to tone or lose?
Avatar m tn Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched. Wrists hurt after stretching for a few hours up to 2 days. Wrist hurts if i spend long hours using computer sometimes it hurts even when im not doing anything. I seem to have tendonitis in my wrist too. I'm not sure whether the pain in my wrist and the flexibility issues are related.
Avatar n tn So I am thinking that I am just very deconditioned and my stroke volume is low and I need to wait for changes in muscle growth and circulation in my legs too. Am I too old to really increase my heart efficiency and stroke volume now?
Avatar m tn I have also had injections of Kenalog. Nothing I have done seems to improve my flexibility or the soreness. I know there is minimal arthritis behind the knee cap which may be some of the contributing factors. I am feeling a bit frustrated that I am not progressing any faster and thinking I may need another MRI to see if there is another tear maybe? What is the normal healing time for this kind of injury and what more could I do?
Avatar f tn Research has shown that stretching can inhibit your performance and doesn't reduce your risk of injury. One study performed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill showed that subjects who performed dynamic warm-ups had higher performance in the vertical jump test than those who just did standard stretching.
Avatar f tn Stretching isn't the best way to improve flexibility—lifting weights through a full range of motion is, according to a recent study at the University of North Dakota. Pausing for 2 to 3 seconds at the "down" position of the lift (where you feel the stretch) without relaxing your muscles is even more effective.
968857 tn?1247600450 I would love to try yoga to loose weight and get in shape but I am not able to do the proper moves and my balance is not exactly the best. I find myself starring at the screen more than doing the movements because I cannot get into the positions they are doing. Should I wait until I loose some weight and will this help with the balance issue?
Avatar m tn When the sodium content in the blood increases it causes fluid to seep out and cause edema. To improve this, the heart’s pumping capacity has to be improved and the excess fluid needs to be pumped out. So, you should ask your doctor what his present ejection fraction is. The pumping capacity of the heart can be increased with medications. Follow a low salt regimen diet and restrict fluids as instructed by your doctor. Also, his diabetes must be adequately controlled.
Avatar f tn My first episode was in April and the second - in July so today I am in remission ( as they say). Since April my legs are like this and I am afraid it will be no changes.
Avatar n tn Not much to be done for it in terms of changing the condition, but physical therapy can help improve strength and flexibility in other areas of the spine/hips and to treat acute flare-ups if and when they occur.
Avatar f tn Today I woke up and felt fine, went for a quick EASY bike ride and then sat down afterwards, and when I stood up it felt like my quad muscles had turned to bricks and the back pain came back suddenly, my legs were so tight and fatigued that I could barely walk! I just have no idea what's going on. I've recently tried drinking electrolyte powder thinking my stiffness and spasms were caused by lack of electrolytes, but that is not helping!

Avatar m tn The initial treatment for all chronic hip overuse injuries is similar, and this can be taught to patients in the office or via formal physical therapy. Pain relief can be improved with oral anti-inflammatory medications, as well as with modalities such as ice, ultrasound treatment, and high-intensity galvanic stimulation. Patients thought to have tendinopathy can use acetaminophen for pain relief because the affected tendon is not inflamed.
Avatar n tn I would differ, as whatever you're suffering from isn't something we can know. That fact osteoarthritis showed up on an MRI, for example, doesn't mean that's the reason you're feeling pain. It could be, but it could be muscular or other things as well. And as for exercises for this, I would get referred to physical therapy.
Avatar n tn Bumps On My Arms. This is what I have. Bumps on my arms look just like this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keratosis_pilaris Doctors give reassurance that the condition will improve or cease with age, typically after 30. I must say WRONG! I just turned 39 a few days ago and this started 6 or 7 months ago. Some say I've read it doesn't itch, mine sometimes do, or more like a little slight sting then gone. Witch makes me want to rub or scratch it.
1734735 tn?1413778071 I do neck stretching like this as part of my morning wake up routine. I'm not sure it builds neck strength so much as it increases muscle flexibiilty and thus redces the risk of injury to the neck muscles. It has made me more comfortable with less neck strain, but has had no impact, positive or negative, on my Lhermitte's.
Avatar f tn I am glad I came across your post. I feel most confident in offering you some insights about how you are feeling right now and how those good feelings may not be an indication to cancel surgery. I have these incredibly amazing days of great strength - those are the days I do the 5k races! And, I feel so good that even though I am walking, I still manage to finish in the top half. Monday of this week was an entirely different experience.
Avatar m tn I went to a doctor and was told it is not Sciatica, and that it is a muscle issue and that stretching therapy to improve my flexibility in my hamstrings, and strengthin my core will help rectify the problem. They also said that poor posture for the 47 years of my life is a contributing factor. Can anybody shed some light on this and some possible remedies?
4437866 tn?1388119624 The mother should be in a comfortable place, sitting or reclining in a way that gives access to the skin around the vagina. It can be done for up to 10 minutes a day during the last four weeks of pregnancy. Wash hands thoroughly. Ensure there are no sharp or long nails that may scratch the mother. Locate the perineum, directly below the vagina. It is the skin between the vagina and the anus. Apply some cold pressed and pure oil (such as olive oil) to this skin.
Avatar f tn This may be a crazy question, but I'm trying to figure out my summer and chemo! Is there 'wiggle' room with the chemo treatments? or do you have to go on the same day every three weeks? My six weeks is almost up and I need to get started and want to do it on Fridays so that I'll have the week-end to recover, but 4th of July falls on the Friday that I would get my second treatment and I'm assuming that they don't do chemo on that day. Thanks for any info.

Avatar n tn For example, I cannot cross my legs when I sit straight in a chair. I was wondering if it might be time for me to think about getting my hips examined my an orthopedist and if you have any suggestions about what I should ask and if I need to check for beginning signs of osteoarthritis?
