There are MORE exercises and there are MORE abdominal muscle groups that you should target.
1686132 tn?1305639671 Sorry, I should have looked at your profile first. I see that you have a 10-year-old. You could have this condition, but I wonder if you have always had a "pouch" since she was born? Hmmmm. I had a flat stomach until I had children, but I had 3 very large babies (9 pounds and BIGGER).
Avatar f tn There is also partial tear of the rectus femoris, right abdominal oblique, and rectus abdominis. If anyone knows of an orthopedic surgeon who has treated similar injuries, please contact me. I'm located in Louisville KY but would be willing to travel wherever is necessary for treatment. This seems to be a rare injury. The VA hospital here is reaching out trying to find a surgeon.
Avatar n tn The abdominal wall muscles (rectus abdominis, external and internal obliques, and transverse abdominis) are injured by direct blows to the abdomen or by sudden or repetitive trunk movement, either rotation or flexion/ extension. With the exception of the rare rectus sheath hematoma that does not self-tamponade, the treatment for these problems is nonoperative with symptoms guiding rehabilitation and return to play decisions. Clinical examination is often enough for diagnosis.
Avatar m tn You have to check if your haemoglobin level is proper, check for your BMI and increase your fitness. Protein food in milk, eggs, meat, fish, lentils, beans, tofu, soyabean should be consumed with carbohydrate, required fat, minerals and vitamins. If with time you will improve and if you still continue with the symptoms then you have to visit a neurologist/Psychiatrist for treatment of panic attacks/ anxiety disorders. Take care!
Avatar n tn # 5 Isolate the lower portion of your rectus abdominis with a reverse crunch. Lying on your back with your feet elevated, curl your hips up toward your spine, lifting your rear end off the ground slightly. # 6 Target your adductors by lying on your side with the foot of your top leg on the ground behind the knee of your bottom leg. Perform leg lifts with your bottom leg, isolating the muscles of your inner thigh. Slowly lift your leg and lower it.
203342 tn?1328737207 Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, ovary involvement in women, ectopic pregnancy in women, mesentry involvement, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower right abdomen pain. Right flank pain is generally due to kidney stones. All the conditions mentioned above can cause pain near the hip area on the abdominal side. An ultrasound or CT scan of abdomen is definitely required. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn HI, Diastasis recti are a separation between the left and right side of the rectus abdominis muscle, which covers the front surface of the belly area. This is usually asymptomatic unless complicated by hernia. Abdominal exercises can be done. These should be in the form of pulling in of the abdominal muscles rather than a pushing of them outwards. Consultation of a professional physiotherapist is recommended. In extreme cases, diastasis recti can be corrected surgically.
Avatar n tn Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, ovary involvement in women (cysts, hemorrhage, tumor, torsion—torsion is a medical emergency and a long standing pain is not due to this), ectopic pregnancy in women, mesentry (a thin tissue that carries the blood, nerves and lymphatics for the intestine) involvement low blood supply, enlarged lymphnodes, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle (these two are unlikely is there is no localized pa
Avatar m tn That said, the most important step after sustaining an abdominal muscle strain is to allow the muscle to cool down and allow the inflammation to subside. Avoiding exercise to allow the injured muscle to heal is important. Activities that cause pain or spasm of the abdominal muscles should be avoided. Gentle stretching is helpful, but it should not be painful. Stretching excessively can be harmful, and slow the healing process.
Avatar n tn knees straight, upper body propped on your elbow and forearm. Pull the handle to your rib cage; keep your hips pushed up and forward. Slowly extend your arm. Do 10 to 15 reps, switch sides, and repeat. Do 2 more sets, resting 60 seconds between sets. Benefit: By engaging your lats, the fan-shaped muscles in your back, you increase torso stability and muscle endurance.
Avatar f tn Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen just below and to the left of navel can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, colitis, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, adhesions, polycystic ovary in females, IBS, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle.
Avatar f tn Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower right abdomen pain. In your case since the lymph nodes are also swollen, there is a chance that you have either a local infection, vaginitis, cervicitis etc or there is a chance of STD (is that possible?) I am sorry to say, but you would need to consult a doctor who can examine you. Try to talk it out with your parents. Hope this helps.

An ultrasound or CT scan of abdomen is definitely required. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system). It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.

Avatar n tn I would suggest trying gasX or something similar. If that doesn't help, it may be a good idea to see your doctor. Watch for fever and blood in bowel movements. If neither occurs, may just be gas.

Avatar m tn The question is how to heal from this injure? What excercise to do? I feel smth like a hole or gap at my right rectus femuris. The diagnos consists of strain with distortion of the right rectus femuris muscle as desribed above.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response Dr. Kaul, I just got the results from my ct scan of the pelvic and abs yesterday and they were negative for tears or anything else for that matter. What doctors call the "fat pad" (the area right above your groin) seems to be really loose muscle tissue and while I am doing a crunch I can pull this loose tissue away from the Rectus Abdominis which I can feel tense up during the crunch.
Avatar m tn Exercises to beef up the size of your lower back muscles, your obliques and your rectus abdominis muscles must be done. Just as you would lift to build your biceps. Squats, deadlifts and hyperextensions with weights will enlarge the muscles of your lower back. Don't do crunches. Only complete six to 12 repetitions per set for all exercises. Do Barbell Side Bends. google core exercises. Remember don't do crunches!
Avatar m tn The Rectus Femoris Muscle is one of the 4 Quadriceps muscles of your leg. I hate to disagree with your exercise regime, but the RFM's function is to flex the thigh at the hip joint and to extend the leg at the knee joint. So this should tell you how to be exercising it. Bicycling it great for this to, according to a PT friend of mine. Best of luck with this nagging injury, let me know if I can give you anymore info!

976084 tn?1270872439 If any of these are detected then you need to look for other causes of weight gain like over eating, lack of exercise, hypothyroid states, diabetes, adrenal gland dysfunction etc. Hope this helps. Avatar f tn Hello, for the last year or so I have been experiencing an intermittent dull left flank ache. It has been low grade and intermittent, but the location and characteristic of the ache has not changed until recently. It's a bit more pronounced than it has been. I haven't been able to discern a pattern to when it comes and when it goes. Approx 2 months ago I noticed some vague sob w/activities such as walking up stairs/making the bed and the like. I'm in pretty good shape.
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, so dont take my word for it, and you will need your gp to check your urine and if its an infection give you the appropiate antibiotics, to clear it.
