20896457 tn?1592763839 I think she is going to have to be evaluated by a speech/language pathologist. She knows how to say plenty of words, but most of them don't come out clearly. I don't think people outside of our family would understand her. She also only says a few 2-3 word sentences. Although, she does babble all day, like she's trying to speak in sentences, but it's just gibberish.
Avatar n tn At age 4, his doctor felt that maybe he fell on the spectrum of Autism because of delayed speech and his behavior. I took him to see a speech pathologist. She said he had receptive/expressive disorder. I took him to a neurologist, and after 15 minutes of observation, he decided that it is Autism. I was told to get myself educated on the subject. After taking my child off all milk and wheat products, I found a DAN doctor. This doctor felt that he does not have Autism.

I'm interested to hear your answers and I'll keep up with this discussion.
594330 tn?1219167188 If your son's delay in speech/language occurs in the context of a broader developmental delay, that is a much larger concern. Time will need to unfold a bit before it's clear what is occurring, but it would be worthwhile to confer in more detail with the child development specialist to learn his/her perceptions about the scope of your son's developmental problems.

And then expressive language is affected because a child has an issue with the receptive part. We see an occupational therapist for my son's sensory issues. He has mild motor planning issues. His occupational therapist works on this and gives us things to do at home.
