Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar f tn m not feeling dizzy all the time and when I do it is not intensive. My point is that the symptoms I have experienced do not interfere with my daily routine, but since the symptoms present are usually associated with concussion I'm wondering if I should, nevertheless, see doctor. I'm aware that this is, in worst case scenario, mild concussion, but I'm unsure whether I meet criteria for actually getting that diagnosis. I would really appreciate advices.
Avatar m tn My daughter has hit her eye and we are worried about a concussion.
Avatar f tn Hello~YES, you need to go to the doctor, you should have gone immediately the day of the hit on the head. I have read that internal brain bleeding can occur as long as 6 or 7 weeks after a hard blow on the head, and by the time you have the symptoms of it, it has progressed to the point of being dangerous and needing possible surgery. Please see your doctor ASAP!!
Avatar f tn Hi Kelley Were you seeing a doctor for the concussions? Did they do any MRIs or CT scans? If you are having these symptoms I would make sure to see a doctor. Headaches, memory loss and not being able to focus or concentrate sound concerning to me. Best to get checked out by a doctor soon.
Avatar f tn My depression is due to the reason I cannot go out and do things as I used to do because of headaches, dizziness, fatigue and lost my smell and taste because of the head injury, has non-stop tinnitus etc., I struggle with suicidal thoughts too and I tried anit-depressants but made things worse since my underlying cause was not resolved. But yours may be a different reason since you already had those thoughts and concussion aggravated it. But you can get help.
Avatar f tn G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
Avatar f tn I have no concussion symptoms and no lump and I have been sneezing a few times, but lately the pain will not occur during the day, but sometimes start at night. I also have a tender scalp that is sensitive to touch or rub on it and the pain can sometimes travel throughout the back of my head. I have applied heat and taken aleve which seems to help it, but how long will it take for the tingling sensation to go away?
Avatar n tn Do you have any symptoms? How bad is it? When did it happen? Most likely not much shows up but you never know. Mine thought as a concussion but turned out to be a bleeding on the brain which was found out after 4 days. So best is take get the MRI's as soon as possible and later it may also not show up.
Avatar f tn no, you do not always have obvious symptoms of infection. since you have hsv1 already, odds are you wouldn't have a "classic" initial ob anyways.

Avatar f tn Others often have to tell me I say the same things over and over or they have to explain something to me over and over. Can permanent brain damage occur in severe concussion?
446829 tn?1212425523 If you suspect headaches as post concussion syndrome, you will most probably have some more symptoms of the post concussion syndrome. The headaches of PSC may also last long, usually longer than tension type headaches. There are reports of patients having the headaches for over two years. Stress is not so much of a problem as far as the headaches of PCS are concerned. Which category do you feel you fit in?
Avatar n tn He has had 3 CT scans in that time. The last concussion was almost two weeks ago. He still has headaches and some fogginess. How worried should we be about long-term damage? When will the headaches go away?
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar f tn Post-concussion syndrome, is a set of symptoms that a person may experience for weeks, months, or occasionally years after a concussion, a mild form of traumatic brain injury. Symptoms may include headache, difficulty concentrating, irritability etc. Though there is no treatment for PCS itself, symptoms can be treated; medications and physical and behavioral therapy may be used, and patients can be educated about symptoms and their usual prognosis.
Avatar n tn Yesterday ( 11-3-09) I started bleeding and found out I was having a miscarriage and my hcg was at 9. I dont understand how it happend so soon. I went from such joy to such sadness in 4 days. I m afraid to even ttc just because Im scared it will happend again. What are the chances of having a healthy pregnancy in the future and what steps can I take to ensure this doesnt happend again ?
1627039 tn?1305691098 i want to have a kid but the only problem is i need to know if it is possible to become pregnant tht soon after your period?? and if symptoms can even occur this soon after?
Avatar f tn How long after a concussion is it normal to still be feeling nauseous and have difficulty with memory, balance etc. I got hit in the face with a softball 11 days ago and am still nauseous. Cannot stand on one leg with eyes closed, and have forgotten things like PIN numbers, passwords etc. is it too soon to expect these symptoms to be gone, or should I go back to the drs. I did also break my nose, which was realigned under local anaesthetic 6 days ago. No LOC. No actual vomiting.
Avatar f tn I am freaking out about all of this due to the fact that it has been going on for so long and before all of this I never dealt with any of these symptoms. When I go on websites and type in my symptoms is comes up with brain aneurysm and scary things like that.
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
Avatar f tn Hello Dear, You should consult a neurophysician and get neurological evaluaton like MRI done to rule out any pathological changes causing the incordination due to the concussion.Post concussion symptoms do occur but they are temporary.Stress does not cause such bumps. There seems to be some trauma causing your symptoms.
