i hear you on the second hand smoke, and i used to be a smoker too, i quit the day i found out i was pregnant - and it wasn't hard cuz i had noticed a week before we found out they weren't doing anything for me- and actually making me turn "green" But my husband still smokes... and i can't stand it!!

I seat down and basically told him the results for second hand smoking and how that was much worse than actually smoking. So we came to the agreement that he would just smoke outside when we come over & he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.

There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.

Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. You either be alone or go to your grandma's where you will inhale second hand smoke which is way worse than smoking itself. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.

No. You can't get high from second hand weed smoke unless someone literally sits there and continuously blows smoke right in your face for countless hours....

t tell they were until this lady literally exhaled the smoke almost in my face as she walked by and I definitely inhaled some second hand smoke -- it was that strong. I literally had to get off the phone and ask them were they serious. I just got a new job and will be expected to take a drug test next week. I normally wouldn't think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by.

I think its both positive and negative. It teaches the kids the dangers of smoking/second hand smoke and the problems it can cause as well as the result od death. As for the negative, the kids with the smoking patents are now worrying about losing their parent(s) due to the day care. Im an ex smoker myself.

There was a video on youtube on the affects of cig smoke to your baby. My bf seen it and how the baby was trying to escape it in the stomach! Now he wont smoke in the car or let me go anywhere that has smoke. But he never smoked in the house in the beginning. He slowed down on his own...i tried not to nag him about it bc i didnt want him to smoke bc i was doing that.

I am not a doctor, but I think that it's absolutely terrible if you've gotten COPD from second hand smoke. I really hope that the "second hand" smoker that's been exposing you WILL now have the incentive to quit. I would personally, feel horrible if my smoking caused someone to get copd!!

Ask her to smoke outside for your and babies sake. Second hand smoke kills blowing smoke out the window is nit effective as 80% of smoke is invisible and does not all go out the window or blows back in. Your baby's health is number one priority and she should understand this. Smoke contributes to asthma..chest infections..ear infections...sids..even death. Your son shouldn't be breathing fumes for candles either as its a carcinogen same as incense sticks.

My partner still smokes and I get his second hand smoke I tell him not to but he says its hard lol I'm early on in pregnancy like 14 weeks and find it kinda disrespectful at times so I can totally understand where you are coming from hun

Now that a lot more is known about second-hand smoke, I'm really curious if when I got married to a smoker if that didn't bring on my allergies. Within 1.5 years of being married and living with a smoker, I all of sudden developed severe allergies where I was waking up every 30 minutes because my nose was completely closed up. I became allergic to the world, there's no place I can move to alleviate it.

Once in a while one will find its way in the living area and within minutes my cat kills it. A couple months ago my cat started to get bad respirtory problems and died. My doctor told me what happened to my cat and my issues is not caused from the bats. Today I went for an eye exam and the eye doctor told me I have scars on my right eye caused from fungus from bird or bat droppings. Of course Im freaking out and thinking about walking away and giving it to the bank.

Like i dont want this to effect my baby. Aint second hand smoke suppose to be worse?? Idk it gets me so mad. How could this effect my baby is the question? Second hand smoke is ALWAYS worse then doinq it yoursef. If youre around it a lot I would say yes there's a chance. I personally can't stand the smell of it and always leave the place or say somethinq if some1 is smokinq but like u said u can't prevent it .

A note on second-hand smoke. Insurance companies rate people who smoke; i.e., they charge the applicant more. However, I have never known of a case where a non-smoker was ever rated. (My husband is an insurance agent.) Insurance companies are in the business of making money and their underwriters are very savvy about risks. What I am saying is that the hysteria about second-hand smoke is just that - hysteria.

Especially since cigarette prices and taxes were far lower back then than they are these days, I can only imagine how truly out of hand my chain smoking might get then.
