How much estrogen in yasmin

Common Questions and Answers about How much estrogen in yasmin

Avatar f tn Anyway, I am currently considering having my doc switch me to Yasmine as I am not having such a good time with Ortho-Cyclen (which I had started just prior to surgery), understandably so since it is high in estrogen and low in progestin. Plus, I tolerated Yasmine well in the past. But, as far as I can research, Yasmine is not a first-line choice for endometriosis. Anyway, what have you been told and what is your experience thus far? Thanks.
473222 tn?1214439873 Perhaps the effects will not become obvious until us women are in our fifties or sixties. I am a member of a forum called yasmin survivors. I probably cannot post links so if any body is interested, just google yasmin survivors and it should take you to the forum where you can read of other women's horrific side effects with yasmin and other birth control pills. I hate to think of any other women going through the terrible long term side effects that hormonal contraception can cause.
Avatar f tn I have been on Yasmin for almost 2 months, in the second month I started spotting non stop for almost a month. I’m going on vacation July 5th and don’t want to be dealing with this then. What is my best option, should I go off the pill all together? Will that stop my spotting? (I’m not concerned about getting pregnant). Should I switch to an estrogen pill? What’s my best option to stop this spotting!
Avatar n tn htm As you age , naturally your hormones change too. so a dosage of the same estrogen going in a year ago is going to be different another year. when you have a thyroid disorder even more imbalances will happen hormonally and the birth control will still be admitting the same estrogen as it did. It is totally logic sense - but you will have a hard time getting that though to a doctor.
Avatar f tn Anyway I have been doing alot of research and stumbled across a condition called Estrogen Dominance which can be caused by the Birth Control Pill and how Estrogen Dominance can affect the thyroid. http://outsmartdisease.com/how-estrogen-dominance-can-ruin-your-thyroid-health/ I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on this? and if anyone has gone through the same thing.
Avatar f tn I take Marvelon21 and have since my surgery 4yrs ago. I am wondering if its the ingredients in the yasmin that could be doing it besides the progestin and estrogen? Where you taking it continuously with the yasmin 21 or the 28 day? MARVELON21 contains the below ingredients Each white, round tablet contains desogestrel 0.15 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.03 mg.
Avatar f tn I don't understand how it helps. Doesn't the pill increase your estrogen? and isn't estrogen bad for endo? Someone explain this to me... I feel like since i have been on the pill my symptoms have not improved (its been about three months since i've started) and I've had like a never ending light period for a reallyyyy long time, and the pill is supposed to keep me from getting my period for every three months. so it's really not feeling much better.
Avatar f tn I see that the one hormone is the same but the other ethinylestradiol in YAz is 0.02 and in Yasmin is 0.03. What does this mean and is it safe to give her?
484167 tn?1210001396 ok i need some help here...i was on yaz for about 10 months when my periods started going hay-wire...like i would get a period in the middle of my cycle and not get my period while taking the"reminder pills"...my dr. gave me yasmin since i guess the level of estrogen is a little stronger...i have been taking it for over a week...i feel pregnant. my body feels just like it did when i was pregnant and i don't remember feeling this way at all when i started the yaz almost a year ago.
864198 tn?1239188205 Or have to get a blood transfusion from loosing so much blood in a day? would be nice to talk with someone else thats been through that, cuz i pretty much do once or twice a year.
Avatar n tn I was on YAZ for about a year without any "side effects", until the last two months. I've had out of cycle bleeding (mostly spotting) before my period. The doctor switched me to Yasmin, which has a higher dose of estrogen. She said that'd stop the spotting. So far.. so good. But she said it's not uncommon w/ YAZ to have these issues. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the "right" combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.
Avatar f tn I'm not 100% sure if the pill is making you like this. You have been on it for a year with no problems and now all of sudden? I mean, you can switch your bc anytime you want it's just I'm not sure if it's that. Have you started on any other new medication recently? Maybe vitamins, or anything eles? Yasmin is what I take and it works perfect for my body. Never had a problem in the past 2 years I've been on it.
Avatar f tn Years ago I started having problems with bleeding between periods. My gyno said hormonal, take the pill. Two years ago I stopped taking the pill, had spotting consistently every month about day 20, continuing until I got my period. This past October I decided to take birth control again because all the spotting was not doing much for my relationship. I went to PP because I'm unemployed and no insurance. First they put me on progestin only because I'm over 35 and I smoked at the time.
797256 tn?1237636468 I just had my hormones tested they tested LH, FSH, Estradiol I think that is (estrogen), that is it. They said they are in the normal range, now I got my insulin tested for insulin resistant and they said it came back in normal range, but the (family) doctor says he wants me to take the meds because of having all the symptoms of PCOS. 5 years ago I went to a fertility doctor (he got me prego) but before that he checked everything and said I have PCOS.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your advice, I'm considering talking to my doctor and discussing any alternatives, but I am unsure (as I am 17 and don't have a very open relationship with my mother) how she will react so I'm wondering if your doctor gets in contact with your parents? Also I am consuming the pill named 'Yasmin' is it true this pill is specifically known to trigger mood swings and depression? What else may you know about this specific pill??
Avatar f tn Thanks for repsonding. Yasmin has been turning up in a lot of my searching. My periods are totally irregular.. I'd probably only get 1 a year w/o the birth control. I thought it was because I was an athlete when I was younger.. then I went on birth control.. when I came off - years later - they were still out of whack and i was trying to get pregnant.. so I got it investigated and got the PCOS dx.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar m tn How many yasmin 21 tablets ca you take in a row ? ive taken two packs and am waiting for my period how long should i wait ?
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone else has had a GI doc tell them their birth control pills could be causing their GERD symptoms. I was on the pill for about 8 years, got off and got pregnant that same month (planned- my baby is 3 mths old now). Now that I'm back on the pill I do NOT want to have more acid issues...
Avatar f tn Okay! My brain glands don't make much ACTH, as in, 0 to way below the entire normal range at all time of the day. After having fired my Mayo endo doc and still being held hostage by his decisions and not being able to get a CRH Stim test to determine WHICH gland (Pituitary or Hypothalamus) isn't working, my PCP and I have decided to go the with the "shotgun approach" to treat my lack of ACTH production, since the treatments are the same no matter what. YEAH!
Avatar n tn The doctor will start you on a basic birth control, probably combination estrogen / progestin, bare in mind there are different concentrations which can lead to different benefits/ side effects or they might not work as indicated at first. Doctors usually recommend 3 month trial before switching.
Avatar f tn It seems like since your body is already so out of balance with hormones, then when you put more hormones into your body it just throws your body off completely, hence why the change in mood. That is my thought on the matter, I could be wrong. But ya as much as anyone can tell me about yasmin, the better. good things, bad.. I wanna hear em guys!! THANKS!
