1544019 tn?1318504526 So just an update about this. Just when we finally got cleared for me to take the Enbrel while pregnant, we find out it's not going to be into the pharmacy until Friday AND it's going to cost $900!!! BUT it turns out it will actually probably be safer for me TO take the Enbrel. I have to control my arthritis because if I don't control it, (according to the lady at the pregnancy risk hotline we talked to today) Rheumatoid ARthritis puts me at risk for still birth and preterm labor.
Avatar f tn I've been on Enbrel for about 5 years and it has been an extremely good medication for both the psoriasis and the psoriatic arthritis. My concern is what am I going to do now that my husband is retired and my health insurance won't cover the cost. I live in Canada and the cost of this medication is approximately $22,000.00 a year which my husband's company insurance covered but now that he is retired, it will not cover the cost for my lifetime.
Avatar f tn I’ve been taking Enbrel for the past 15 years or so with HUGE success! I have since Retired from work last month and now have a limited income. I signed up to Medicare/AARP for my post retirement healthcare requirement. During employment my Co-Pay was 25 dollars for a month supply. Now, Medicare and AARP collective insurance leaves me with 1,000 dollars for a month supply. Retail? $4600-$5500 for a 4 doses (month supply) Is there ANYTHING else that works as well as this?

197575 tn?1215532624 My insurance probably won't cover thyrogen shots for my year scan and thyroglobulin test. Does anyone know how much 3 shots would cost me??? I don't look forward to going off my meds for several weeks since it took me 7-8 months to finally feel good after my tt. I was on 8 different synthroid doses until we got it right. I'm on 250mcg. I would rather pay for them then be miserable.
1831849 tn?1383228392 Most of us are at the mercy of docs and insurance companies when it comes to our treatment. We are often asked to undergo treatment or tests without knowing much about the cost to us. My Tysabri infusions are billed to the insurance company @$6,000 each. I couldn't get an info on MY cost before I started getting them in November. I started them anyway. My out of pocket for the 4 infusions to date is less than $600, my annual out of network deductible.
Avatar m tn Hi again I would like to add that yes we have all see the posts about side effects that some people have experienced. Most if not all are related to treatment with interferon and while the problems those people have experienced are not good they are experienced by a minority of patients. Also I believe at least some of them had other medical conditions which most likely complicated their treatment or their livers were already in bad shape to begin with.

Avatar n tn Without insurance, it can cost $10,000 or more, depending on how much medication you need. Not sure about how much insurance would cover...I think that depends on your insurance policy. Best of luck!

Avatar f tn I did not receive sedatives or any other service of any kind. Upon my arrival, I was informed that without insurance it would have cost $9,400, but they will only charge my insurance $6,800 (of which I owe 10% out of pocket). Does this sound right? It seems high to me, but I don’t know.

228463 tn?1216761521 I have a dear friend on this forum that is not seeing a doctor because she does not have insurance. I was wondering if we all could share any important info that you may have that may help her get the care she so desperately needs. I will start: My experience when I needed treatment for alcoholism 18 years ago was I applied for an indigant care program at the local hospital and was accepted. I did not have to pay for anything, I stayed for 28 days and have been sober ever since.
Avatar f tn I just started weekly methotrexate injections and turned in my prescription to be filled at the pharmacy. I did my first shot at the doctors office which was good because the pharmacy said they had to order it. I was told they didn't keep it in stock regularly because it is so expensive. Uhm, so how expensive are methostrexate injections?? I have good health insurance, I was just curious.

Avatar f tn I've never had an allergy testing at any point in my life although its pretty obvious I have allergies. I take loratidine pretty regularly and it does help somewha, but I'd like to get real allergy testing there are only two problems. First: I don't have insurance so I need to know how much testing is going to cost me out-of-pocket Second: What kind of testing/allergist do you need to help identify an unusual but serious allergy?
475555 tn?1469304339 "Isn´t viral laod used as part of the info to guide the decision on tx? " No. It has been by some doctors but it shouldn't be. My first doctor used viral load as his ONLY guide to suggest tx for me and that is an inaccurate foundation upon which to base treatment. I didn't know any better at the time, this was all new to me and my first doc had me reeling out of his office with numbers like >1.3mil IU/ml and that I needed treatment .. and I thought I was done for too.
