Hi. I was 1cm dilated on 12/31. I'll be checked again tomorrow & it just makes me curious to know how many cm dilated you have to be before you're admitted to the hospital. I also have another fetal fibronectin test. If that's positive, I'll be admitted anyway, but I'm curious about dilation.

Oka so how many cm do you have to be before the doctor keeps you? I hear its 4 but then I hear your not ready until 8 then I get 10 I'm so confused..

They say the hospital should take you if you have more than five in one hour. But some doctors say to go to the hospital if your contractions are five mins apart. If it were me as soon as I counted six contractions in an hour I would go in.

I went to the doctor on Friday and I was 3 cm dilated, and I go back to the doctor on this coming Friday and I'm scared that my doctor will send me to the hospital. I had ny daughter at 39w6d so the say before my due date. I knew it was going to happen that day just because I felt my first 2 contractions at 4 am then at 5 am I went pee and laid in bed and felt really wet so I figured I might not be done. Stood in the bathroom and my water broke.

Before I used it I was completly closed. Now im 50% effaced and 2cm dilated. It softens ur cervix and makes labor easier.

They don't usually induce on Sundays ( at my hospital) so I had to wait to be induced until 42w 1d and then my labor was 29hours after my water broke and I had my son at 42w 3d

My sister was 2 cm dialated (FOREVER) and was having contractions literally for a week (she kept going to the dr but they sent her home cause her water never broke and she wasn dialated enough) when she finally couldn't take it no more she went to the hospital and was there for like 10_11 hours walking the halls cause they wouldn't keep her till her water broke or she dialated enough.

After my water broke I labored at home for twelve hours before going in. It didn't matter where I was, I was still going to be waiting for contractions to get closer and stronger so I waited at home until they were about four minutes apart. I'd talked to my midwives during the day, they knew I was in labor, stable, and safe, and that I'd call them again when it was time to head in.

They don't seem to be easing off so if they don't stop in the next 3 hrs then I am going to go to the L&D and see what is going on, I have never had pains like this last so long and be so frequent. They are also quite painful.

So my doctor checked me and im almost 4cm, I did mentioned to her I been having contractions since I lost my plug, so she told me to go the hospital to monitor and see if I end up having my baby boy. If so I pray to god for a safe and easy labor!

By the time we headed to the birthing center when I was in labor with my son my contractions were less than 5 minutes apart and lasting about 30 seconds to a minute. During a contraction I could not talk, or walk, or anything except focus and breathe. If you're in strong enough labor to go in for admission, your labor is too strong for you to be driving. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be a safe driver in active labor. Call a cab, call a friend, if all else fails call an ambulance.
