paxil

983155 tn?1248700406 I heard its rough to get off Paxil, are u under Drs care? I know u can't go cold turkey, thats for sure, its going to take a while, think of how long it took for it to work, so it could be a few more weeks, hang in there! What symptoms are u having?
Avatar f tn I am surprised that he did not prescribe a benzo like activan or klonopin to go with the paxil for the first few weeks. That's what Docs will normally do, the benzos will take the "edge" off the Paxil till the Paxil kicks in. I've been on Paxil for almost 3 weeks, and everyday my "nervousness" is less....I take .5mg Klonopin daily. That's a looooow dose.
Avatar f tn First, this could still be withdrawal from the Paxil. By essentially taking two drugs at once you eliminated the possibility of knowing which symptoms are withdrawal and which are from the new drug. Your taper off Paxil was way too quick for that drug, and a lot of your symptoms sound more like withdrawal symptoms than side effects of Wellbutrin. But also, wellbutrin is very stimulating and not usually used for anxiety for that reason.
Avatar n tn My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds. The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar m tn One question would be how quickly did you stop the Paxil -- abruptly or after a long taper? And how did you feel while going off of it? As I said on the other forum, the withdrawal effects of stopping Paxil are its worst aspect. Another problem with Paxil is that it's stronger than other antidepressants for whatever reason, and often other antidepressants don't work because of that. (Often, Paxil doesn't work anymore either once you quit using it).
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil for over 10 years and have been thinking about getting off of it. What are the side effects of being on Paxil for such a long time? After reading some of the side effects of trying to get off Paxil, I am wondering if I should continue to take it for the rest of my life. Has anyone out there been on Paxil for as long as I have?
983155 tn?1248700406 re in Paxil withdrawal and, because you started another drug at the same time that has a completely different mechanism of action, you have the side effects of starting another drug that may not even be an appropriate substitute for Paxil. What you should do is, if you just started the wellbutrin, stop it, go back on the Paxil, and taper off slowly, as slowly as it takes because you aren't anyone else. What you have are classic Paxil withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn I also take Paxil for a sleep disorder (depression-related insomnia) and have for 11+ years. It works wonderously, but I gained 30+ lbs when I started the medication and have tried for years to lose it, unsuccessfully. I will lose some weight - and believe me, it takes an enormous amount of exercise and effort - but inevitably gain it back because Paxil makes my appetite so strong.
1038916 tn?1264060250 From a Physiological point of view, is there negative long term effects from using SSRI's. ie: Is there any lasting long term changes to my reseptors and gland etc. I am using Escitalopram 10mg and have been for over a year.
Avatar n tn Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects. Did a great job for me! Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety. However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
Avatar m tn How long have you been taking these medications. There are start up side effects associated with paroxetine that go away once your system is used to the medication. Some doctors will start with 10 mg of paxil/paroxetine and titrate up to 20 after a week or so.
4981427 tn?1371670469 ve been a lot more tired.. Will the side effects most likely subside as my body adjusts?
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar m tn I took one Lexapro a month ago. Severe symptoms, couldn't eat or sleep for 4 days, terrible depression, anxiety hundreds of times worse than what I took the 10mg pill for. Obsessing about suicide. Doctor says side effects don't last that long. Still having trouble sleeping, eating, I don't know if I'm going to get through this. Does it ever go away? Where can I go? Who knows anything?
Avatar n tn I was recommended by my doctor that I give it 7-10 days max to see if the side effects go and if not, then for sure will need to switch to something else.
Avatar f tn However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar m tn How well the brain is able to do this determines how bad and how long the withdrawal is, and since your brain is yours alone, your experience will be yours alone as well. Be careful and gentle with yourself, and try taking a healthy dose of fish oil, which some have reported helps to ease some of the withdrawal side effects.
Avatar n tn I told my doctor and he suggested to stay on the one a day for another week. I also have lost a pound a day since starting the drug. How long will I have these symptoms?
