Common Questions and Answers about How long to take macrobid for uti

macrobid

Avatar f tn In a case of yeast in the genitals, over the counter products like Monistat and canesten work well and you will begin to notice a difference after about one week. For the bowel, you need to eat a lot of yhogurt, as well as acidohilis. You might even need to get prescription from a doctor. In the case of oral trush a prescription is needed as I'm not aware of over the counter products. One product used if I have it correct is Diflucan (not sure about the spelling.
Avatar f tn I had chronic UTIs when i was pregnant with my daughter, so bad that it spread to my kidneys. The only thing I was ever told I could take for it since I was pregnant was Macrobid. You should call your doctor tomorrow and ask about the Macrobid. Also try drinking cranberry juice, or if you can't stand it (i can't) try the OTC cranberry pills, they should help just the same as the juice. I forget exactly how its supposed to help but it does. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn s this pregnancy, therefore I have been put on macrobid for the remaining of my pregnancy. I have to take 1 every night until I deliver. Started @32 weeks am now 35+5. No problems from it yet. I haven't had any syptoms of uti so I would never known if it weren't for the urine soles at Dr. Office.
Avatar f tn One of the ways that we get an irregular cycle is disruption to the routine such as changes in schedule, weight gain or loss AND illness. How long have you had the spotting and how long ago was the treatment with macrobid?
551604 tn?1333983135 The macrobid is for a uti but I was told when I had to take the bactrium that it is a different type of antibiotic for a bacteriol ( i cant spell sorry) infection, not a uti that you can more commonly get durring preg in your lady parts. So you might want to ask, thats why they told me it had to be the bactrium and not the macrobid that time.
Avatar f tn e,, The UTIs are probably contributing to a relapse and docs solution to the UTI is macrobid - aah, and then benadryl to try to quell the reaction to the macrobid! No wonder you are at your wits end. My suggestion is to look the doc dead in the eye and demand another antibiotic for the UTI. Tell he/she you are willing to take your chances on another med. How long does the numbness and loss of function last each time?
Avatar f tn m pregnant Is there anything I can do without meds ?for UTI and Sore Throat if not did anybody take MACROBID while pregnant ?
Avatar f tn Ive had acouple it should clear up when all the medication is gone
666089 tn?1260520261 i know that he wouldnt give me something that would be harmful, and not treating it would be more harmful then taking medications .. i would just like to hear if anyone eles has taken this medication for a uti and if they had any side effects with it? i tryed to look for infromation on the net about it but there were to many mixed reviews on this... or is there any other safer drugs you've take for uti's?
493068 tn?1224765315 Hi there, It is not uncommon for women of your age to suffer from UTI. Most urinary tract infections occur in the lower urinary tract, which includes the bladder and urethra. The condition occurs when the normally clean lower urinary tract is infected by bacteria and becomes inflamed. Urinary tract infections are very common. Most of the time, symptoms of a urinary tract infection disappear within 24 - 48 hours after treatment begins.
Avatar f tn I am 23 years old. I have relapsing-remitting MS and was given Macrobid for a UTI. After my first day of Macrobid, my entire left side has gone numb and i have lost function in it. I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this?
Avatar f tn Hi, so over 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a UTI, put on 500 mg cephalaxin (spelling?) 4 times a day for 7 days. I forgot to take the last day and a half, and the UTI came back. I was then put on 5 days of macrobid (twice day). (During my antibiotics I was still having sex) My last pill was Saturday night (9/17) and I am still suffering from frequent urination. Azo seems to help but I don't want to rely on it. I'm 19 and this is my first UTI ever. Has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar f tn You need to take the antibiotics for the uti it can get worse and impact the baby. I understand not wanting to take meds while pregnant but you need to weigh the pros and cons. Especially for infections. If left untreated it could get worse and cause you to go into labor prematurely.
Avatar f tn I returned to the doctor today after finishing my antibiotic and to get the results from the culture. To my surprise, I was told today that she reviewed ALL my cultures since age 17 (including the current one) and said because of the type of bacteria involved the cultures weren't able to be developed right?
9137321 tn?1402710290 They gave me another kind to take for relief but it made me puke so I stopped taking it but I'm not hurting at all I don't feel like anything is wrong I'm just peeing every 30 min and I didn't know if macrobid made you do that I researched it but didn't find anything on that
Avatar f tn I have to take it every time after intercourse cause I'm so prone to getting uti's.
Avatar f tn I just finished macrobid on Sunday for my uti. It is safe for the baby.
5601615 tn?1383450616 I was given macrobid at 20 weeks for a uti my dr said it was safe to take while pregnant. Im now almost 32 weeks and baby is fine. Although i think she said yeast infections were common with it I never got one. These sites online may not be the most reputable so I wouldn't listen much. Plus if you dont take meds you could end up with bladder or kidney infection.
Avatar m tn I then went to the doctor and was treated for UTI with antibiotic Macrobid (the urine culture later came back positive for Staph). This was over three weeks ago now. Macrobid was 5 day dose, I took the full course. I didn't notice all that much improvement even over the course of a week, it was very gradual but still pretty miserable a week after I started the antibiotics. So I went back to the doctor. He put me on Cephalexin. I took it for a few days.
Avatar f tn Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day. Any advise on dealing with it will be appreciated..
Avatar f tn THE BLEEDING WILL COME OUT IN MY URINE I WANT TO KNOW WILL THE BLEEDING STOP? I HAVE BEEN TO SEE MY DOCTOR SHE SAID IT IS FROM HAVING A UTI AND COMPLETING THE MACROBID TREATMENT. I JUST NEED MORE OPINIONS!
Avatar f tn Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
Avatar f tn Good for you my friend, I know how hard it is, and the Cipro seems to be a good drug, and worked for me. And the Macrobid got the e-coli one so far.
Avatar f tn If the risk outweighed the gain your dr wouldnt prescribe it...as long as they know your preg i bet its safe to take ecspecially considering how far along you are.
Avatar n tn I was perscribed Macrobid today for a UTI however I cannot swallow pills, therefore I opened up two capsules that I have taken so far and simply put them in apple sauce is this okay?
Avatar n tn After repeated treatments, it is common for the bacteria causing UTI to become resistant. Given the delayed response to treatment, most likely you were infected with a strain resistant to nitrofurantoin -- which these days is not the usual drug used for UTIs anyway. You might talk to your doctor about other possible treatments in the future. Second, if your UTIs regularly are triggered by sex, you might take a single dose of antibiotic after intercourse.
Avatar n tn I am a 23 year old female who has the constant urge to urinate on and off for two months now. Various doctors have checked for a UTI and there is none. I have been on macrobid, vesicare and now I'm on flavoxate. Each of these medicines have worked for about a week and then I get the constant urge to urinate again. I just started the flavoxate and I have not gotten any relief. I'm not in any pain, but the constant urge to urinate seems painful and is affected my daily life greatly.
