Common Questions and Answers about How long should i give solumedrol to work

solumedrol

559187 tn?1330782856 I have to admit I am one who has had waaayyyy too much solumedrol. I am about to start my 4th treatment in 13 months. This is my second year with MS and I have gone downhill tremendously over the 18 months that I have had obvious MS problems. My first attack my right arm went competely numb and spastic and pretty much paralyzed for about 6 weeks. It got better and I have little residual issues like constant tingling in my hand, insane itching periodically on my finger tip.
Avatar f tn This concern has been posted awhile back, but wanted to reintroduce it. I had a solumedrol treatment about 4 weeks ago. About 2 weeks later i got chills and my hands started to itch uncontrollably followed later by hives in random places (no pattern to where they were) but mainly arms, stomach, and scalp. Called my neurologist, heard back from his nurse who said there was no way it was related to solumedrol.
195469 tn?1388322888 Thanks for letting me know that this happened to someone else. My daughter Cheryl, has a horrible time with the Solumedrol. Her blood glucose levels went in the high 400's and her blood pressure shot through the roof. These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down.
Avatar f tn My neuro is a general neuro and basically told me to research the Dmds available and to let him know what I would like to try. Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
Avatar n tn Instead of getting any better, I seem to be getting sicker. How long should I give the Cipro before calling the doctor?
Avatar f tn I will work until I go into labor. I Did last pregnancy as well. I prefer to spend my maternity leave time with my baby since I have to take it all unpaid.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor. It depends on the type of work you do. If its fast paced or stressful then u might consider going off sooner.
Avatar m tn Doctors typically start out with a very low dose and wait for the patient to tell them how it went. 5mg I would think is enough to make you a bit hyper if you did not have ADD/ADHD. It also is not very long lasting, so the effects would end after say 3 or 4 hours. Point being is that you want to let your doctor know how the med is affecting you. Give it about a week and then report back. By the way, I feel that this information is something that your doctor should have shared with you..
417274 tn?1202937034 My question is how long until the Zegerid they switched me to will stop working too? I have also been taking Zantac the entire time as well. I have already been tried on all the others and they just don't work, so unless something new comes out and my trend continues, my fear is that I'll be sunk with chronic issues that just won't heal.
3112530 tn?1434032033 I am due for more medical treatment but before I go forward with other treatment, how long do I give this Botox to work? My doctor only told me that he gave me enough medication to 'relax' the muscle, not to paralyze it. I am afraid to any stretching as yet. Can you advise?
1842804 tn?1319756311 It takes up to 5 days to get through the worst of it and takes another week or so to get to feeling completely normal. that is how it is for me when I am on them. But I am to the point where I don't think I will get the IVSM anymore due to the withdrawls and the infections I get after taking them. Everytime I have had them I end up sick aftewards because of the steroids knocking out your immune system.
1390847 tn?1344657468 Its getting to the point where I have done all I could...I mean I know very well how to treat anxiety...i can tell other people how to help it...but none of it works on me. I have been on sooo many different medications, so many therapists...and just no one out there can help. I feel so hopeless and alone. I know im not the only one with anxiety out there...but being at college where no one talks about these things is really hard.
11119474 tn?1428702170 m glad you are getting some relief from the medications. I am just hoping that this Solumedrol will at least hold me over until February when I hope to get a clearer diagnosis of what is going on with me. - Or earlier if I can get in earlier. I have asked to be on the canellations list. So far so good - I mean, I can honestly say that I feel at least 30% better overall than I did a week ago after the infusions this week. Norma??? That is a very good question - I have NO idea!
Avatar m tn He said that he did not think that it would be appropriate and added that most of the symptoms I am complaining about, I have had for a long time. He said I should see my neuro-opthamologist ASAP, even though I have seen him twice about the same problem and he could find nothing wrong. So here I am feeling quite disappointed because he said no to steroids.
Avatar f tn Does anyone how long it takes for the steroids to level off in your system and how long they stay there?
Avatar f tn I get to take 3 weekd health and safety full pay before due date and another 2 weeks paid by gouvernment and a further 5 1/2 months after due date also paid by gouvernment i work 72 hours per fourtnight.... night shifts. My partner also has full time hours.
1378566 tn?1286930813 Now they want me to wait for a nurse to come out and teach me how to poke myself? Is it really that hard, I have watched the dvd and read all my info?? Should I wait until atleast Monday to start?? It stated that Monday, Wednesday and Friday's were good days to take it?? That way I would not have to take a shot on the weekends... One more question, I have not been on a steroid? I'm still have severe sensory loss from my waist down? My next doctor appointment is Aug. 2nd..
Avatar n tn I was just taken off Tysabri in July, I was on that for almost 5 years. I now have to go on Gylena in January, but before I start the new drug...I have to do 6 months of iv steroids. 3 days every month with NO taper! I have just finished my second round...and I'm ready to through in the towel. The side affects of the steroids are at this point almost not worth doing. They are trying to prevent a relapse since I am not on any MS therapy. Anyone else going through anything similar?
246236 tn?1275478902 The five days afterward, I was unable to work, felt out of control and at times felt like I was going crazy. Although I hope I do not need treatment again for a time, I will make sure I have no work commitments should that be the case. To lessen side effects - I tried to meditate and couldn't, tried calming teas which did nothing, tried soothing baths but couldn't relax. Again, I am sure it was a combinations of diagnosis and the solumedrol itself.
Avatar f tn She should have consulted the boys father though and that is why I would encourage a friendly businesslike relationship so that she is more apt to tell him things. I would try to give her the benefit of the doubt and just work as a team to help this child. It is wonderful that you and your husband are so involved in this boy's life. That means more to him than even he knows. Keep trying and doing your best for him. Good luck.
