Common Questions and Answers about How long is cipro good for

cipro

Avatar n tn Usually for a sinus infection, Cipro is prescribed for 10 days—I am not sure how long the doctor prescribed for you to take it. If you started on Thursday and you are not feeling better, you should call your doctor today (Monday) or Tuesday. Tuesday would be approximately half way through the course and you should see some relief from your infection.
Avatar f tn How come I can eat 10 percosets a day and not get sick but I am trying to take cipro for a bladder infection and I puke it right back up? I just cant keep them down.
Avatar f tn If a man is going to contract genital herpes from a sexual contact with a woman who had a active outbreak when they had sex for the first time..when would the symptoms occur and how long would it be to assume he Didn Not get it?
Avatar m tn Again, blood and urine, now about 5 weeks after, again all negative. Was put on Cipro for ten days, along with Flomax. After 10 days, still have same symptom of needing to urinate. Sent to Urologist. After his exam, he got fluid to excrete from my penis with anal exam, culture showed resistance to Cipro. He gave me Bactrim, which I have been on since July 6th. This is the 17th, and the symptom still has not gone away.
Avatar m tn I have a few questions here. And I had two sets of symptoms. On day 1, I did something stupid and had unprotected vaginal and oral with a woman. On day 8, I began to feel a tingling and a bit of discomfort in the genital area. On day 11, I noticed that one of my inguinal lymph nodes was swollen and off to the STD clinic I went that day. They tested me for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Both came back negative.
Avatar n tn Any body can ans what kind of side effects that has cipro to use for long time......
Avatar m tn Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
Avatar f tn Is that possible if it just smolters, in a manner of speaking. I know I have complained for a very long time about having a constant headache, and is so painful when lying down, I would sleep, if I could, sitting up in a recliner for days at a time. Sinus dripping all the time, and also becoming more intense while sleeping, waking to clear my throat. Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago.
Avatar f tn I expected this and was prepared for it, and the stinging is not unbearable, but it is unpleasant. How long is that supposed to last? The urologist made it sound like it wouldn't be that big a deal and that burning urination would be normal. I am not taking any medication for it, just trying to drink plenty of water. I assume it will all return to normal down there sometime this weekend . . . .
Avatar n tn and, once it is cleared up, should I still go in for a deep cleaning or only a cleaning? Seems like the cipro is working well, but is it a good antibiotic for this type of infection?...seems to be, but concerned it will resurface. I know Keflex is what is normally used.
867582 tn?1311627397 re being prescribed something like Cipro. Is this true for the other floxacins? There are cousins of Cipro that are available, there's oxfloxacin and levofloxacin. We're not sure yet, but if I had MS I'd avoid any drug that had the word floxacin in it." The interferons that are part of the disease modifying drugs (DMD) are Alpha interferons (if I remember correctly) not gamma interferons. It is my belief that Levaquin activated or caused my MS.
Avatar f tn I saw a description on a web page using the description of looking like a partially scrambled egg and that is what it really looked like, not really streaked but kind of mixed. Now I have been on 500 mg Cipro for 4 of 7 days prescribed but still am coughing up same type of blood mixture. Am I just not allowing the medicine to work long enough or should I be contacting my doctor?
Avatar n tn That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro. Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Avatar m tn I also took Xifaxan simultaneously for the IBS 500 mg 3 times daily for 10 days. The Cipro seemed to help the joint pain but the two compounded the GI symptoms. I started having allergic type reactions to every food I ate, presumably an immune response to increased permeability associated with gut irritation. After I finished the Cipro, the joint pain returned along with some mild urethral irritation. I am allergic to Flagyl, so from what I've read my next option will be doxycycline.
Avatar f tn Hi, and thanks for responding. How long did you take it and at what dosage? I'm supposed to take it for 5 days, 500 mg per dose. I am less tired tonight, but my leg is killing me. I hope it is just because I haven't really eaten too much and have been taking it easy...but, it is hurting to walk.
168348 tn?1379357075 Was wondering how long the rash lasts after starting antibiotics. It's faded to a tan color. Really just more curious than anything. Thanks!
Avatar n tn So I got diagnosed with gonorrhea and have been taking Cipro for 3 days now. However, the side effects of gonorrhea (pain while urinating, and yellow puss disharge) have only gotten worse. There is more discharge, and the pain has become excrusciating to the point that tears are shed. I want to get rid of this soon, or atleast the pain and drainage. I am afraid that I may have a Cipro-resistant strain seeing that nothing has improved and has only worsen ten-fold.
Avatar m tn Hi all I have posted before. Sorry it was so dramatic but am at the end of rope. As my nickname indicates I have severe testicular pain along with leg pain both sides, fatigue. At beginning I had all the symptoms of a STD and unfortunatley there is two sources. We are talking twelve years ago. Both woman were checked (my ex wife, her friend which was a friend of the family). I made one mistake in a 15 year marriage but from what I found out ex had made several.
Avatar n tn There is something that is a long term side effect of taking cipro called serum sickness. Ugh. However it usually only lasts 7 to 21 days! I don't know if this is all related but photosensitivity is a side effect of cipro. And you could have polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) which is a sun rash. Related? Could be. Can you ask your doctor about this?
Avatar f tn The correct dose for new herpes is 1 gram of Valtrex, twice a day, for 10 days. Is that what you are taking? Are you able to urinate successfully? If you start having trouble starting a stream of urine, you need to contact your doctor right away, this cannot wait. Having trouble starting a stream of urine is different than it hurting, by the way. Let me know what else I can do for you.
Avatar m tn As i read on the net that cipro causing many adverse effects like permanent damage on the tendons , nerves , tissues. I wonder it is true and is there a remedy towards it ? Is it a long term side effect on my nerves or it will be better in time. Thanks anyone shed some light in it?
