Avatar n tn HSV Elisa Antibody tests are how much accurate for detecting hsv virus after 18 months of last exposure
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me an dna pcr test along with an hiv1 direct p24 with elisa. My pcr came back negative in 7 days but now its after 8 days and I haven't got the results from the other one. I'm a little worried that the longer it takes is not a good sign. What is the average time for this test?
Avatar n tn At six weeks, I had a PCR DNA and a PCR RNA both undetectable and elisa negative. Also, at 9 weeks, I had an elisa negative and a PCR RNA negative. For someone who is hiv+ and has not developed antibodies, wouldn't one of the PCR's detect the virus?
Avatar f tn Currently seeing an infectious disease doctor because my Lyme disease western blot was positive. The doctor is doing another hiv Elisa test..he says the results will be available in 3 days. Is there a chance that the Elisa will be positive and that the rapid test didn't catch the infection?
Avatar f tn if another antibody elisa laboratory test at 12 week is negative., can i neglect the positive results of previous rapid tests?
Avatar f tn So anyway I had a PCR-test for HIV 1 and 2 THREE weeks after that possible exposure and then again an ELISA-TEST of 4. generation THIRTEEN weeks later. Both test results are negativ. But my doctor is still advising me to let me test again 6 months after the exposure to be sure. Cant I just be sure of that i m definitely negative? Should i still be worried? Or am i possibly one of these exceptional cases by which the antibodies wont show up, even after 13 weeks?
Avatar n tn Dear Doc (and forum readers), About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though. I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
Avatar m tn with refer to no.1. it seems HIV antigen (for ELISA test) could withstand for long period after taken out from human body? In addition, may I know what should do and dont's before blood sampling for ELISA test for HIV? e.g. fasting, take medicine, smoking, sufficient sleep, no fever etc....
Avatar m tn You have done 4th gen Elisa test, that's conclusive after 4 weeks. Only if you would have a immuundisorder (where you already would be in hospital for), end stage Cancer or PEP would could cause theoratical delay.(theoratically, because even then it's rare to cause delay) 6 month is for 2nd generation testing and 3 month for 3rd generation testing. Many govnerments haven't updated their guidelines because of their structure and caution positions.
Avatar n tn Is the elisa test conclusive for my relations prior to the latest one? Does the elisa test nvalidates the rapid blood test that appeared undetermine or whatever? Can i rule out my last relation given that use protection for vaginal and girl tested negative? What can cause rapid test to be undetermined? would the elisa test detect the antibodies is rapid test show a barely seen fainted line?
Avatar n tn Everyone, I got my results today, Elisa - NEGATIVE, Western Blot - NEGATIVE, PCR - NEGATIVE. You all have been so wonderful. This was my first time being on the forum and you have made it so easy to understand what was going on and very good advise!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn You posted a thread in the HIV livng with forum saying you already have been diagnosed HIV+. What are you doing here again? Why not just go get the regular antibody test, they are accurate and the rapid ones give instant results?
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever heard of or had the "Calbiotech hsv 1 & 2 Elisa tests?????" done??? If not can Life 360, fleetwood20, HowardH or gracefromHHP do some research on this herpes test & tell me how reliable it is in giving accurate results & if is a type specific test that can accurately differentiate between herpes 1 & 2 please?
Avatar m tn ELISA is the antibody test used, its not a rapid test and takes time, how ever there are several rapid tests in the market and gives results almost in less than ten minuites, all antibody tests are very accurate, ELISA is a older version very reliable probably yours was elisa
Avatar m tn I had a risky encounter (well risky by paranoia standards) 6 months back. I waited for the long window period to get as accurate a test as possible and avoid false negatives. I walked into a hospital and got a test yesterday. The results say "anti-bodies to HIV - Non Reactive" with a reading of 0.274. The report classifies values within 0.9-0.99 as intermediate and values greater than 1 as reactive.
Avatar n tn Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn If My test was negative at 3 weeks how likely will it be that it's negative at 7 weeks?
Avatar f tn Hello, Grace. I've had contradictory test results for HSV 2 and I was hoping you could shed some light on it. I went to the doctor in February for a routine check up and asked for a STD screening as I do every year. I tested negative for HSV 1 and positive for HSV 2. I tested negative a year prior, but I've had three partners since then. One person tested negative, one chose not to get tested, and the third was not given a type-specific test and tested positive.
