How long for antibiotics to work for tonsillitis

Common Questions and Answers about How long for antibiotics to work for tonsillitis

I am so sorry for your losses. I have never heard of tonsillitis causing a miscarriage, but I know some antibiotics can cause issues. I have also heard that some people who get pregnant right after a previous miscarriage have a repeat miscarriage because the lining of the uterus is not strong enough to properly maintain a pregnancy. I ended up having a D&C because my body was not disposing the tissue.
I'm 52 and contracted EBV in the late summer..I've been off work ever since...I irst had tonsillitis and was given antibiotics..but soreness came back, then I have mild sudden fevers they lasted a few weeks, very on and off, not permanat and not eay to might have thought you just had too many clothes on if you get me..Eventually the Doctor thought EBV....I have had a blood test for ws negative but this isnt unusual espeacially if time has passed.
the symptoms are so clear and brutal BUT yet so unclear and so hard to verbalize to the doctor , it's so frustrating , it literally feels like you are slowly dying but you still look great on the outside so it's very hard to be taken serious with this invincible disease even though it's worse then anything Ive had (that is visibly by test) This is worse then anything because you don't know what to fight in your body or how to fight and the worse part is that you get no help from nowhere.
I know your period is the lining in your uterus which the mirena keeps it thin so obviously keeps mine to nothing since i dont bleed. I am really concerned now as to how long it is going to take me to concieve. I had a friend who got hers pulled out and got pregnant the next day. Now I really wonder when I should get it taken out. Now or when hes here so we can have sex right away.
Just one quick clarification question.... Exactly how long after ARS symptoms appear, would you expect a test to be positive? When I say I got tested 18 days after the onset of my symptoms, this means it was 18 days after I first noticed the swollen lymph node. And over the next 2-3 days, the fever and other symptoms gradually appeared. So the symptoms weren't in full force until about 15 days before my negative test.
My tonsillitis basically is severe pain for a few days, then usually subsides after a week on antibiotics. I rarely get fever. It does mean a few days off work. Happens often when I travel for work as I hardly get any sleep on flights. I'm close to recovering from another bout, but went to see an ENT this time. Did a scope. Diagnosis was chronic tonsillitis (picture shows a couple of small white spots on the tonsils, which ENT says could blow up again the next time my immune system drops).
he penetrated me once, for a few seconds before i asked him to pull out. i have to say that i feel very healthy and that i'm gaining weight all the time (about 7 Killo in the past 5 years). my questions are: 1) are the short penetrations i described consider very risky? 2) after all this years if i did catch something would i feel sick by now? loose weight, etc... 3) from a medical point of view, do i even need testing?
Hi how long did it take for the rash to subside and for you to feel better.. Please let me know..
It was the most miserable time of my life up to that point. My doctor had me on prophylactic antibiotics for my bladder for the duration of the pregnancy, stool softener to help with constipation, vicodin for the pain, phenergan for the nausea and vomiting, and brethine to keep me from going into premature labor. He assured me they were all ok in pregnancy, and I just prayed that none of it would hurt the baby. She ended up coming a month premature. The doctor couldn't stop her.
It has affected me even being able to do my motherly duties as well as even be able to work! I am praying for all of us!!!
Doctors may prescribe antibiotics for 10 to 12 days, and if that doesn’t work, as it rarely does, they may prescribe a different antibiotic for anywhere to 4 to 6 weeks, which is often effective. Sometimes it takes months and even a year of antibiotics to effect a cure. Steroid nasal sprays can also be prescribed, but the medical community is unsure of the possible side-effects of long-term use of steroid nasal sprays.
I just want to warn all of the young woman who may be wrongly diagnosed to ask the doctors that if they are already going to do an MRI on the pelvic, then, to also include the kidneys to check for Nutcracker. I think it should be a standard procedure when a woman comes in complaining of chronic pelvic pain....
Strep Throat ( do not let this untreated or it will lead up to heart, joints, kidneys desease)it is very important to take all of the antibiotics or that particular infection will learn how to regect it. 4.Mono 5 Other Unknown Causes Hope these facts help you.Let me know how things go ok. if you have tonsillitis 3 to 5 times a year for 3 yrs or 7 infections per year, and other, problems that occur i would sugest a tonsilectomy/adendectomy if you have adenoid problems.
Now, I fully respect that every parent should make the decision right for their child, and I truly believe that the majority are acting in what they believe to be in their childs best interest, but I still don't get it. I look at it this way...prior to having vaccines available, kids died from diseases we are now able to prevent. I look at the infant and child mortality rate in developing countries and see how many of these kids are dying from things preventable by vaccine.
Knowing you are HIV positive and engaging in medical care will preserve your life to a normal lifespan. It sounds obvious, but in order to acquire HIV there has to be a significant exposure. A significant sexual exposure means unprotected vaginal and or anal (or both) penetrative sex with a person who already has HIV infection.

Sudden weather fluctuations such as pressure or humidity changes is another common trigger. If you’re susceptible to sleep-breathing problems at all (most modern humans are to some degree), any degree of inflammation in the throat will cause further swelling, starting up a vicious cycle that brings up more stomach juices into the throat, which causes more obstructed breathing and stomach juice reflux.
I have spent a FURTUNE in doctors bills this and the past few months and would love to avoid another trip to the doctor and don't want more antibiotics. I have had 3 rounds of antibiotics for bronchitis, and strep in the past 5 months. I would totally ride this out and not worry so much but I have several medical tests/ procedures scheduled for out of town to diagnose some esophageal issues I have been experiencing.
-Do I need to check with now Ex Girlfriend what antibiotics do and don't work?( I don't want to blame her for this if its not her fault) -Should I get a second opinion on this or does the doctors method of anti-inflammatory sound correct? -Could this be a STD like gonorrhea or chlamydia?
Went to my actual doctor today and she agreed my tonsils look pretty awful. She did a culture and sent it out to the lab to test for strep again and sent me for blood work to check for mono. She also prescribed me with Amox again for 10 days.
If this is herpes am I likely to now have recurrent herpetic tonsillitis? Sorry for such a long rambling post and sorry for all the questions but I'm sure you can appreaciate how concerned I am!
) I apologize for the horrendous typing too, my phone is rebelling telling me its damn time to get to bed. ps. how long does a shot of Rocephin last? Why am I not better, is this pus ok to just drain down my throat?.... Dear Lord I want to feel better and get some sleep.
The nose trauma is also separate from her bladder infection. There must be an antibiotic that can work for her. What antibiotics did the vet recommend? I know that when a certain type of antibiotics doesn’t work it may be because the bacteria are resistant to the treatment, in which case your vet would have to prescribe something else. I am not sure if you’re already doing this, but home care includes feeding diets that promote acid urine.
he will swab his throat positive for strep, give antibiotics and for those days on antibiotics he seems to be getting better. Then, when the antibiotics are finished within two weeks he will be having the same symptoms again and we will continue the process. He has had regular blood work that didn't show anything and they have also checked for inflammation and RA. All blood work comes back normal. ASO on blood test showed he didn't have strep, so assuming he's a carrier. So....
I know it takes a long time for your tonsils and glands to return to normal after a case of tonsilitis. The ear problem, that 'pop', i still have it too. My bad case of it was in May, and i'm still all f**ked up. If they did a blood test on you then they would've noticed signs of leukemia. Also you would be really tired and bruising everywhere on your body, so try not to worry. I know just how you feel, read my post that i just posted yesterday. Get better.
Thanks everyone for commenting. I am probably going to end up going to an urgent care center, instead of an ER because this doesn't seem like an emergency but a doctors appointment is still well away. I can't put this off if it is something severe. I am now really worried because a lymph node between my thigh and groin area is now swollen also (I read it's a bad sign for them to be swelling one after the other like this).
I don’t have courage to go and get myself tested for HIV and therefore looking for some mental food to clam my nerves. Sir, please clarify few things for me: 1. Is my tuberculosis history will play a part in my being HIV infected or not ? 2. Are my ARS symptoms for real? 3. Don’t you think it is too early for “Aphthous Stomatitis” to happen? 4. What does klebsiella has to do with HIV or it is Oral Thrush? 5.
There is a split in the medical community here about whether Lyme is serious or not, whether it is widespread or not, how to test for it, how to diagnose it, and how (and how long) to treat it! We certainly understand you situation, and I am sorry to hear it is the same as in the US.
my doctor's office just called to tell me my strep test was negative for strep, but positive for STAPH!! it's scary how you know there is something wrong with you but the doctors just like to dismiss you easily.
Greetings! Long time no hear. How are you , Doc.? my son gotten well from you adendoiditis and it has never recurred.
