Avatar f tn I started on Aciphex last night and am on my 2nd tablet today. Hope it works for me too. And hope it continues to work for your husband as well. Have a nice day.
Avatar f tn I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.
Avatar f tn Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar m tn He said i could have acid reflux which causes dry cough and sometimes hard to breath. I currently take Aciphex for that and it works but still have bad dry cough. Could it be possibly cough variant asthma?
Avatar m tn My 18 year old daughter spent the last 4 months weening off Pristiq and now feel she really needs something for depression and anxiety. So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. I realize everyone is different, but would like to know some experiences.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD for years. I went from Aciphex to Protonix and now Nexium. I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication. I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer. Is using the medication for so long safe? Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped? Also, I recently heard about Kapidex.
Avatar f tn If you are planning on working after you have the baby, it is good to work for as long as possible before the baby comes. here's why--- that time you take off counts toward your short term disability and the family medical leave. There are maximum days associated with both of those and you'd be using them to have the baby early. I worked until close to my due date with my first taking a few vacation days.

Avatar m tn I should have said how long will it for the symtoms to begin to go away?
Avatar n tn I made a hugh mistake and stopped use of the PPI(in my case Aciphex) immeidately after taking the last antibiotic for H. Pylori. I am now back on Aciphex and my Water Brash symptoms have diminshed greatly.
Avatar n tn Lisa, you may be in the same type of situation that many celiacs find themselves in - there's not direct relationship between when you eat something and when the symptoms occur. In addition, for many celiacs, they can be gluten-free for weeks-to-months but they're still miserable. It can take a long, long time for your body to normalize once your GI tract has been 'irritated.' I don't thinkg you're going to get any clear answers for some time to come.
198506 tn?1251156915 And the pain extends to my left flank. The pain gets very bad when I am standing for too long. Do you think this may be a side effect of the Aciphex? Thank you in advance for any insight you could provide.
Avatar f tn I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.
Avatar n tn Yes. Long term use of PPIs like aciphex causes decreased absorption of vitamin B12 leading to a deficiency in this crucial vitamin. Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Permanent nerve damage will occur if vitamin B12 deficiency has has gone without treatment for a sufficient time. The baking soda test: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it.
Avatar n tn My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?
Avatar n tn I've taken it daily for the past three years. I've read somewhere on the internet that you can't take it for that long at a time; it may cause fundic polyps of the stomach (which I recently had removed during an endoscopy). However my gastro doc claims that it's completely safe to use indefinitely. What is your experience with Prilosec, and do you think it's safe to use indefinitely for GERD?
