Avatar n tn The rash of scarlet fever is usually associated with headache and a fever .The rash has a rough feel to it and may be reddish over the arms and legs. However ,in your case the rash does not appear like this based on the images. A superimposed viral infection is your physician's primary differential. Continue to obeserve the rash and note for any scaling of the skin or development of enlarged lymph nodes especially over the neck. Take lots of fluids and eat well.
Avatar n tn Hi, How old is your child? There are differentials for a rash in children who present with fever. At this point, given your child's age and the presentation of the rash, scarlet fever and hand, foot and mouth disease are differentials. As for scarlet fever, the rash usually develops a day or two after the onset of fever. Prior to his your child complains of pain in swallowing, weakness or easy fatigability, decrease in appetite and for some nausea and vomiting.
Avatar f tn I've got a rash. Started on my arms, now all over my body. Getting worse not better. Went to the docs she said scarlet fever but I don't have any other symptoms other than the rash. She put me on anti biotics but nothing is getting better after 2 days of taking them, and I've had the rash for 6 days now. My groin lymph nodes are swollen. I have a blocked ear and doc also said my throat is inflamed. Rash is just lots of little bumps. Some in clusters. Sometimes pink.
Avatar f tn Have you had the symptoms before? If so how many times and how long did they last If the symptoms have persisted for more than 5-7 days that I would consider going back to the health care provider and emphasize the points above.
Avatar n tn A rash and a fever could be scarlet fever. How high is the temp?
Avatar n tn I am asking whether I could get this from my partner they show no signs at all but in the last week their hands have started to peel in exactly the same way mine are following the scarlet fever rash. I am worried that this may not be scarlet fever but something more, is there any std that comes across this way. My Doctor has said that is highly unlikely I was infected from my partner following their treatment or that I was reinfected from them following my antibiotics course.
Avatar f tn But want to comment in case anyone else researching comes across this. The scarlet fever symptoms and the pink eye is indicative of possible Kawasaki syndrome. Ask your doctors about this possibility. Currently dealing with my sons battle with scarlet fever. Going into the second week...amoxicillin (10 days) seemed to work then on day 9 of treatment rash returned. We started azithromycin (3 days) thinking it developed resistance to penicillin. One dose of azithromycin made a HUGE difference.
Avatar f tn As far as I know it is bacterial... the bacterial illness, scarlet fever, causes a distinctive pink-red rash, which occurs when the bacteria release toxins. Scarlet fever is extremely contagious - people can catch it by breathing in the bacteria in airborne droplets that come from an infected individual's sneezes or coughs. Infection may also occur as a result of touching the skin of an infected person, or touching surfaces or objects that the infected person has touched.
Avatar f tn it could be due to the fever gave her a heat rash. the rash is in all the heat pertained ares. could be heat rash. her body fighting against the fever. ive had the heat rash before but they werent rough to the touch.
Avatar n tn If your daughter is a child then the possibility of rocky mountain spotted fever, Kawasaki disease and scarlet fever are there. Rash in all these involves the palms and soles and is a red, shiny rash. Investigations and blood tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn As I understand rashes tend to go to the warm moist areas of the body. The rash tends to flare up after my showers. Initially we thought it was due to a change in dteregent, soap, or something else that may have irritated my skin but after a few days we began to think otherwise. I have had the rash now for about two weeks, and eventhoug it is painless it is still worrisome.
Avatar n tn Sorry, hit enter too fast. Anyway I don't think it can be either scarlet fever or Fifth disease because of the rash and fever. I can see Fifth disease to still be possible, because it may act differently in adults than kids. But I don't think it could be scarlet fever at all. I mean it usually comes it a facial rash yes, but also a high fever, strawberry tongue, and then a full on rash. Also you feel pretty freaking miserable if you got it.
Avatar f tn Hi thanks, Doctor says rash and stomach problems all to do with tonilitis. He also says not infectious as on the antibiotics.
Avatar m tn looking for advise, my son is 9+yrs and has had a stiff neck since oct/nov last year. suddenly 2mo's ago he got really swollen glands with sore throat and bad chest infection with wheezing asthma, followed by high fever ard 5days later. it affected his liver too for e next 2months_swollen and palpable, with upset stomach and pain below the ribs. the doc suspected EBV, so he was told no sports for 2mo's. a test showed that it was an old ebv infection, but not active.
Avatar m tn The term Scarlatina may be used interchangeably with Scarlet Fever, though it is commonly used to indicate the less acute form of Scarlet Fever that is often seen since the beginning of the twentieth century.
Avatar m tn (only strep infection). Or even Scarlet fever with no rash? Also, when I had Strep I had the tendency to self-induce vomit by using my ring and middle fingers, could that generalized the strep infection towards my fingers which still lasts until now?
Avatar f tn The rash and fever (intermittent ) may linger for 2-3 weeks. Night time is usually worse, because cortisol levels in the body are the lowest at that time. I don't think the used washer has to do with it. Just press on the rash (scarlet fever) with a flat object like a butter knife. It should temporary turn white. To prevent re-infection, contamination and spreading of SF follow some simple rules: Wash your hands and face frequently. Change bed sheets daily. Launder clothing you wear/use.
Avatar n tn The titer indicates how many times the lab technician had to dilute plasma from the blood to get a sample free of the antinuclear antibodies. For example, a titer of 1:640 shows a greater concentration of anti-nuclear antibodies than a titer of 1:320 or 1:160. The apparent great difference between various titers can be misleading. Since each dilution involves doubling the amount of test fluid, it is not surprising that titer numbers increase rather rapidly.

Avatar f tn m not sure where this came from, she did not perform a swab test), and that it was probably a virus and the rash should disappear in the next day or two. The rash improved a bit, but began prickling in the heat/sun the next day, and spread to my thighs. The next day, it appeared on my knees and feet, although the rash on my feet was sort of a pinkish blotch (about 2" across), with a redder outline.
Avatar n tn The texture of the rash is more important than the appearance in confirming the diagnosis. The rash can last for over a week. As the rash fades, peeling (desquamation) may occur around the finger tips, toes, and groin area. There are many treatments available for scarring depending on the persons requirements and suitability. These treatments can be beneficial to varying degrees and your doctor is the best person to decide which is best suitable.

Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your body rash seems secondary to allergy known as atopic dermatitis and also other strong possibility is irritant dermatitis. Remember if you have been exposed to any chemical (detergent, shampoo etc.) or new garments which might have caused irritant dermatitis. if it is present, Avoiding these situations is helpful for acute flares as well as for long-term management.
