558096 tn?1255887002 naloxone will have no effect what so ever on you so the idea, which i understand where youre coming from of "just another med" does not work for naloxone...it is a great idea by your therapist, it will just ensure that if your having a really rough day and have a lapse in judgment and use a few pills that youll know in the back of your head that it is absolutely impossible to get high on any amount or any potency opiate...
Avatar m tn yes, it does block. the naloxone in suboxone is only there to prevent misuse by IV addicts/abusers, that is naloxones only purpose...buprenorphine is the blocker, so to speak .. you would have to be off either one before your procedure...good luck!!
Avatar f tn You do not have to wait with subutex as it does not have the naloxone in it like the suboxone. The naloxone in suboxone is what can throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Go ahead and start it..... best of luck to you..
Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me how long I'll have to miss work while detoxing off methadone with suboxone. I know I have to wait until I'm 3 days into withdrawals before starting the suboxone. Also, does the doctor prescribe anything else for RLS and sleeplessness along with the suboxone?
Avatar f tn How long does heroin withdrawals last? Ive been clean for a week and I took a suboxne after the second day.
Avatar f tn Naloxone is an opiate antagonist. If it enters the blood it would throw an addict into immediate withdrawal. It is added to subs to prevent iv use. You could be having an allergic reaction to it, but should not be crossing your blood brain barrier. I have known folks to hold the sub under tongue for 10 minutes and spit it out. That prevents the naloxone from entering the digestive system and the bupe will be absorbed by then.
Avatar f tn Doing the same with Suboxone will either make you sick as a dog because of the added naloxone...or have you feel nothing at all. Every drug available can and will be abused. Just how our minds work.
Avatar f tn So I disagree with Jay where he says the nayloxone occupies the opioid receptors when taken oraly. It does not. Naloxone is present in Suboxone to discourage misuse, only. It serves no other purpose. When injected however, the Naloxone will react with any agonist in a persons system, causing percipitated withdrawal. It would not react with any bupe in the system however. While Naloxone has a high afinity to the mu opioid receptor, it's not as high of an affinity as buprenorphine.
Avatar n tn what physical w/d does not really get me..
Avatar f tn Suboxone is typically used for addiction, and contains naloxone. You MUST be in moderate withdrawal before using it, scoring I believe a 26 on the scale before taking any of it. Otherwise you can be thrown into Precipatated withdrawal . I would suggest discussing this with your PM doctor before considering this option. Some have gotten relief, most have not.
717440 tn?1292743742 One of the reasons I went on it, besides my insane addiction to lortab, was needing something that controlled my pain without making me high. For ME sub does this. does not work for everyone though. When I do finally quit, it will be under a physicians supervision, and will be extremely slow taper. Now, am I a cured addict??? HELLL NO. I will always be an addict.
Avatar f tn ☺ Bubba, I was told by one of my doctors (I swear last year I had 2 doctors, now I have like 5 or 6) that the Naltrexone DOES work against cravings too, actually I was prescribed it for that reason, but I never took it because I was scared I was taking too many different drugs. LOL.
Avatar m tn s just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds. This site has been a great resource and hope someone can tell me what this stuff is like? Appreciate any info you can give me about this med, thanks in advance!!
Avatar f tn m wondering if anyone can point me to a thread where it explains exactly how one starts on suboxone, how it works, and how long you are on it for? Any info would be so greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Thank you! I just don't understand how I can abuse something that does not produce a high? I take just enough suboxone so that I don't go into WD or experience chronic pain- so I can function. I am not an IV user and don't plan on becoming one. I'm wondering If the Naloxone mixed with Prozac and Topamax are causing my depression to worsen? I'm trying to minimize my medication intake.
Avatar f tn Since Suboxone (Buprenorphine) has such a long Half life, how long after taking my last 16mg should I wait before resuming my MS Contin (60mg twice daily). I have heard you could go into withdraw if on Suboxone and take a Narcotic. ??
1128749 tn?1260564194 What do you take now? How much per day? How long have you taken it? Have you ever stopped before? Keep posting~ V.

1477380 tn?1289233354 m currently on suboxone waiting to get on methadone treatment. Which is better? Are there other alternatives? How long does the treatment last?
Avatar m tn Treatments for CIP do not always work however in some cases Naloxone may be used as a treatment. Naloxone is a chemical that acts within the nervous system of the body by blocking the nervous system from causing the inactions that occur within the group of cells that receives the message to initiate the sensation of pain, heat, or cold. Please consult a neurologist to discuss the treatment option . Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
