Avatar m tn The urologist just recommends lots of water with lemon. Is it unusual for it to take over 2 weeks to pass these stones? They are usually only about the size of a grain of sand.
Avatar f tn They can do Utererscopy or URS on stones still in the kidney... but, kidney stones have to be in the urine collecting part of the kidney, the parenchyma to be removed... other than if stuck in the ureter, bladder, and the junctions from kidney to ureter and the other one. I can't remember all of this. This is an intracorporal procedure... the source to break up the stone is inside the kidney. A utererscope is used with various attachments.
Avatar f tn I am a 60 yr old female with extensive history of kidney stones since 1978 (before lithotrypsy), recurrent infections & blood in urine. I am prone to both calcium stones & uric acid stones. First kidney stone was size of a walnut & could not pass so was removed by actual surgery. Over the yrs I experienced more stones that would not pass so more surgeries. Have developed scar tissue in both ureters & have had 2 stents. Extreme pain so stent removal.
Avatar n tn I am on an antibiotic as well as percocet as it is the only drug that takes the edge off. My question is, how much longer will it take for the stones to pass? Any home remedies for pain and to get these stones on their way? Could these symptoms be something else? I am going to follow up with by GP by wed, so any info would be great, especially regarding tests I should ask him to run. Thank you.

895634 tn?1283989210 Taking pain killers for the pain is not the proper treatment for kidney stones. Taking a pain killer to avoid the pain is not good medicine. It is masking the underlying condition which can be a serious one. A hepatologist is not an expert in kidney disease. They should refer you to a Urologist. A Urologist specializes in diseases and conditions of the kidneys and urinary track.
Avatar f tn I, too had too big of stones to pass and I had 17 in one kidney (the one they removed). My other kidney was only functioning at 50% and the Dr mentioned "transplant" but nothing ever came of it luckily. I had to have the stones blasted (twice) so they could pass. I was in the hospital for 10 days for all that. That was 6 years ago and I hope I never have to go through that again! I was in the hospital so many times with kidney problems, the Dr.
5650943 tn?1374112808 Kidney stones s u c k ...iv already had two ..first onr i passed and the last one i still have. Hope u pass it soon! Make sure u drink tons of water!
540521 tn?1221699706 I was diagnosed with kidney stones about 7 months ago, and i have done everything my Doctor has told me to do as far as drinking water and i was drinking so much water that it was making me sick, so i cut down on how much i was drinking. I have not yet passed the stones and i am still getting pain and the stones will not pass. The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get?
Avatar n tn t think its THAT urgent but you def need to go asap. It could be kidney stones! I found out last night that I have kidney stones and I have every symptom you have! I had sharp pains in my lower back for 2 weeks, cloudy urine, the last 2 days I have had constant dull pain in my lower right back (under my ribcage)... I went to the doc yesterday and they found blood in my urine so I had a CT scan done today. It could be a really bad uti or kidney infection...
Avatar m tn If you went to the ER, how many stones did they tell you that they saw in the cat scan that you had TOTAL?. I notice that you said they found 3 X 3 stones (plural), indicating more than one 3 X 3 stone. Am I correct in assuming that from what you wrote? If you had more than one stone, then yes, it's very possible that you could continue to have pain and discomfort until all the stones you have completely pass.
Avatar n tn You have to drink a lot of water, and stay away from cranberry juice, and vitamin c, my doc told me those two are great for a UTI, but are bad for any kidney problems! Heat does help, but moist heat. Bath tubs and rice bags, the more your tubes from the kidneys can relax, the less the pain. Also make someone rub your back. I know it seems a long stretch but I lean against my fist where it hurts, it helps a ton!
Avatar m tn Hi all, I had a dull ache in my right waist line since January. CT scan in April showed a 7mm stone at the junction of my kidney and ureter. I had lithotripsy on April 30th. It only took the 7mm to a 5mm. Urologists said to drink lots of fluids and let's wait three weeks for it to pass. Well, at the 3 week appointment, he said let's give it another 3 weeks to pass. In the meantime, he started me on flomax. I have been in so much pain the past 6 weeks. It comes and goes.
Avatar f tn My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
Avatar f tn I went to my doctor with severe pain in the lower right side pelvic area. She said I had a kidney stone. I had urine and blood tests and then a CT Scan. The stone is 9mm and located in the lower right pelvic region based on that scan. Now she wants me to see Urology, but refuses to state why. Is the stone too large to pass on its own or what? Why can't she just explain so I will understand the necessity of going to Urology?
Avatar m tn i have been to see my gp a month ago with kidney stones, painfull cramps ,the pain has gone but im passing alot of blood when i urinate and it also stings when i urinate which is about 20 times a day im male and 29 years old any help please
463595 tn?1333997222 And thats mean that I either have a stone or I just past it. I have a history of calcium kidney stones and I know it is easier to get them while pregnant . Is there anything but drinkking plenty of water that you would recomend?
Avatar n tn Hello, Although there are kidney stones as calcium stones but Drinking milk does not cause kidney stones. Hence your mother can take dairy products under her doctor’s guidance. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. Treatment can be started only when the diagnosis is confirmed. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn t really know what to expect is there a chance they could both dissolve? Or a chance I will pass both? How long will they take to pass? And the er doc told me that when kidney stones are in the kidney they do not causes pain if this is the case then why am I in pain?
