Common Questions and Answers about How long does it take budeprion xl to start working

wellbutrin

I started 150xl budeprion and read all the comments about it being worse, FDA approval, more side effects etc. I actually felt high the first week and then I just felt so much better; I didn't realize how depressed I was. Then my doctor and I agreed to increase to 300xl so I took two of the 150xl budeprion in the morning. I felt a little high but much better so I told her to go ahead with writing for 300xl. I got my rx and the pharmacy gave my 300xl bupropion (BUPR) not (BUD).
That is, people were imagining that Budeprion XL 300 was not working the same as the brand name Wellbutrin XL 300. And their insurance companies were thrilled. Instead of having to pay for the brand name, the insurers could insist that Budeprion XL 300 was "identical" to the brand name.
I have heard that with the SR, it doesn't make a difference of generic or brand (as it reportedly does with the XL). For this reason, I take the generic bupropion SR (also it is cheaper for me). When I started, I was taking the SR 150mg only in the morning, then after 4 weeks the dr. had me take it 150mg in the morning and 150mg in the evening.
Her medication has recently been switched from Cymbalta to Budeprion XL 150 MG which is generic for Wellbutrin XL. She tried to kill herself a month ago after breaking up with her boyfriend and last week she made another attempt after he royally screwed up and made her think they were getting back together. She's been in counseling but today her doctor said she should see a psychiatrist. She's slept most of the day but now she's up and crying.
Now, after a month and half, she's wants to switch me to another drug. I worry she's jumping the gun. How long does it usually take to start feeling effects from taking Wellbutrin? She also spoke about increasing my dose to 450mg but, I get the feeling she'd rather switch me to another drug because she's afraid of seizures. Note that I'm 100% healthy. There is nothing that would increase my risk of having a seizure.
How long did you take each of the medications? Most side effects go away with continued usage.
