538090 tn?1213808112 My surgery went well and hope to have great results within weeks. Right at this moment, my nostrils are stuffed but had worse experienced. So, as long as I know the recovery is round the corner, I have no trouble tolerating it. My surgery was on the 8th and I went in with a positive mind frame. Didn't get nervous even when I was lying on the operating table. I looked at the clock and the time was 11.45am before I was knocked out. Woke up at around 2pm and felt very groggy and thirsty.
Avatar f tn I have had this surgery done twice. My last one was 10 years ago. It was an out-pt. I think I was there a total of 12 hours. So, it is a long day. But, most of it you won't remember because you will be asleep. Not sure if they had changed the procedure much. But, I will tell you that when I came out it look like I had 2 tampons sticking out of my nose. They weren't in there long. Oh I wish I could remember how long but, I don't think it was a week.

Avatar f tn while im on the subject, how much bleeding post surgery. and how long is recovery. everyone is different. but maybe just an idea how long.
Avatar m tn i have a dust allergy and i know thats what caused all my problems so my question is with all these problems could these things make my allergies even worse then normal like does it make me more sensitive causing sneezing and stuff like does the deviated septum and the enlarged turbinates just make things worse i know it sounds confusing and obvious what im asking but maybe someone wil lget what im saying
Avatar n tn I know surgery is an option for the deviated septum. But will my nose ever not hurt again??? It also causes so much pressure in my ears that it has aggravated my TMJ. Sure wish I knew then what I know now...
1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
Avatar f tn Just read your posting from six months ago as I explore why I had a severely deviated septum and it struck a chord. I had septoplasty, sinus surgery and turbinate reduction two years ago and it was the best thing I had done for myself in years. Unfortunately, I did not realize my problem until I was in my early 50s after suffering countless sinus infections while dealing with severe environmental allergies that were all diminishing my quality of life.
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar m tn I'am planning to have sinus surgery (septopasty) to correct a deviated septum and deciding between surgeons. One of the surgeons attaches splints with breathing tubes to each side of the repaired septum, the other surgeon just stitches the 2 sides of the septum together in a procedure called "quilting".
Avatar m tn I saw my ENT doctor this morning and she showed the result of CT scan. Indeed I have Deviated Septum and she suggests me to be operated. This Deviated Septum explains excessive mucus in my throat. However, I am still wandering if it causes some bloody mucus in my throat in the morning. For that I worry about my lungs.
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar m tn it took me almost half of my life to determine the problem in my nose that had altered my life. I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose. i still experience excessive sweating, sinusitis, tinutis but tonsilitis i havent experience it so far, and its been a year and 1/2 since my surgery.
Avatar f tn My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.
Avatar f tn I have heard of a perforated septum and deviated septum- Can these things lead to a feeling of your eye starting to sink in (it totally is not noticable to look at) its just a slight feeling. What is that all about? AND from there can it cause more damage to your ear drums? Like having a popping or clicking sound when blowing by nose. I would appreciate any advise- insurance issues, surgerys, natural healing, but please dont say to me to stop doing cocaine.
Avatar f tn Does long term deviated septum cause any chronic low oxygen in body how to manage it and low oxygen results in hypoxia which may cause low oxygen supply to body parts experts can clarify thank you
Avatar f tn is it because my deviated septum is visibly crooked there? (you can see my septum on the inside of my left nostril) and the hole to breathe in is smaller? or is it the allergies/small sinus infection? or could it even be really bad Anxiety making me feel this way? Any response is greatly appreciated. Or if somebody else has had this as well that would be great.
Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
Avatar m tn I considered the possibility of dental problems and had a thorough checkup to that effect. It revealed nothing abnormal. I also underwent sinus surgery for a deviated septum and unfortunately that hasn't remedied the problem. Some days I feel better than others, and I haven't been able to correlate it with anything (weather/food/sleep/etc). Are neurological problems likely at my age (28)?
Avatar m tn My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
Avatar f tn PLEASE HELP! I have had 15 years of sinus/allergy/ear problems... I also have a deviated septum They ruled out sinus surgery with MRI'S/Cat scans... IK went for a hearing test...perfect hearing but a 'typanogram" test showed I have Euchstation tube dysfunction on right...they told me to live with it and that I should not have tubes put in as an adult...told me to have septum correction surgery instead...
Avatar n tn Cocaine does cause a deviated septum, but after 2 months use, it would be rare, very very rare. The skin coming out is not from your septum, just tissue the coke is eating away. This is normal for any coke user and in all honesty nothing to worry about. If you do not stop using the cocaine will continue to eat away at the skin and bone in your nose, but this may be the smallest problem you have to worry about with coke use.
Avatar n tn Have you recently consulted an ENT specialist to know the present condition. Usually a diviated septum depending on severity does require a corrective surgery to overcome the nasal obstruction. Weight reduction is very good idea. Consult your doctor to know more details. Take care. keep updating.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am due to have a septoplasty for a deviated septum and the turbinate reduction surgery the end of March. My left turbinate is swollen on the side of the deviation. I have had coblation surgery (where they use Radio-frequency to shrink the turbinate). We only shrunk the front of my inferior turbinate. This did well for about 19 months (until I caught a cold back at Thanksgiving). Then the swelling started all over again- now in the back part of my turbinate.
Avatar f tn As it is found in some researches that deviated septum can cause disordered breathing during sleep.
4556201 tn?1356445652 It could be a combined procedure, surgery for the deviated septum and the bump. Consult your primary care physician, who may then refer you to an ENT surgeon. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
