How long does concerta stay in your system

Common Questions and Answers about How long does concerta stay in your system

concerta

My advice would be to try the Concerta and ignore the criticism of people who have never walked in your shoes. Your pediatrician and you are the best judge of what your child needs to thrive.
I agree with you - it should be out of your system by then. How does coffee affect you? Your Doctor is right in that untreated ADD or whatever can cause problems. My question is how did you get the Adderall. Did you go through a psychologist who diagnosed your problem - or just kinda take the easy way out.
Since they cannot prescribe or diagnose (at least in anyway that would be reflected in your statistics), I would tend to disagree with your first statement.
Its hard to tell whether the symptoms are withdrawal,or are coming from the underlying anxiety that moved you to take the medication in the first place. How is your life going in general. If its going well, and no major decisions or problems, then the headache are probably withdrawal. It may seem paradoxical, but actually lowering the dose more may help the headahces. The other symptoms are typical withdrawal.
It's better for your child in the long run than letting him end up in terrible trouble because lack of medication to keep him from it.
help for mommy, on your profile it said your a male but in your post you said you have a ob? I hope it's a typo on your profile!?
Almost criminal in my opinion. Not every child does well in school. And things like this make it awful for the kids that have true diagnosable add/adhd. You give chilren the resources they need to live up to their potential. This does not include, in my opinion, drugs when they've not been diagnosed with a disorder that requires them.

She wanted the 11 pills of Adderall to wear off from Tuesday but she couldn't go long without her pills without being super depressed. How can she over come this?! What can i do to help?!?! Please an advice!!
), as narcoleptics have been proven to stay awake more readily when they're engaged in activities that they're actively interested in. I hope this helps! Your son has a long road ahead of him and it won't be easy at times, but the advances in our understanding of the disease as well as the treatment options have been phenomenal in the past few decades. As long as he finds a medication regimen that works and makes a few lifestyle changes, he should have no problem.
I have been on many ADD and anti depressant meds but all to no avail except with Wellbutrin XR and somewhat with Concerta. The Wellbutrin worked amazingly well a long time ago but stopped shortly after I took a small sip of hard liquor. My doctors are perplexed by this but that is the only explanation I can come up with. I have given the medication a couple of more shots since, as recent as a year ago but all to no avail. I am currently on concerta.
For a person who is experiencing this for the first time...it can be VERY upsetting and disturbing. I was there before as well...the first time I went through this, I was convinced there was something wrong with my eyes. Everything just "looked" so weird, so odd. I almost felt like I was having out of body experiences...or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind.
there is no heartache in the world like seeing your children suffer because of your choices.
hi- I just would like to ask a few questions. Does your brother truly have ADHD or ADD? I am asking this because from my experience working in the field. People who do not have ADHD or ADD will get very high from ritalin or concerta because the brain does not need to be balanced. A person whom takes this med and does not need it will be productive, happy, alert, etc. However, someone who needs it will be normal.
My daughter never had issues w/ hers coming off. I love the fact that you can really use this one when you need it..and doesn't have to be in your system all the time. There were some days that my daughter would be fine..and others where she would need all the help she could get. She wore hers to school during the week..and weekends I let her do w/out it..unless we had school functions or something where I knew she'd need some help.
I agree cost should never be a concern but sadly we all live in the real world - In Australia this is not such an issue as we have a subsidised prescription system and a pretty much free health care system but in countries such as the USA cost is a major factor - I have friends who struggle to pay for all the drugs they need as they cannot work and medicaid is a mess - the reality is that Drug Companies have a vested interest in making sure drugs are not cheap nor free - they are a profit maki
What happened when you were on concerta (how did it effect you). How much was the dose. How many different times did he change the dose - in other words, how did he step you up dosage wise. I take it he is a psychiatrist?
ADHD/ADD is a serious disability. Your son will be worse off if he does not get good grades and starts to hate school. This could lead to him not finishind High School and not going to college. Help as much as you can. I agree with halbashes. Try to medicate him for school only. You can take him off the med during weekends, vacations and after 4 pm. Concerta is a 12 hour medication.
Thats the highest dose and its weight regulated. Your MD may want to increase because it may not be enough for him. How is he in school? what is his environment? what is his response to his mother? and what are ALL his triggers? These are important factors to be considered.. Let me know.. As a side note recently my daughter has been crazy, with her behavior. The doctor wanted to put her on an evening medication. I decline.. I had her tested for free at insititute by my house.
There have been times that the Concerta does provoke a mild tic, but taking Tennex in concert with it seems to help minimize it. My son is in his first year at college. He just LOVES it!! His teacher was right.....he is majoring in chemical engineering and was a 4.0 his entire first year. He has been put in the honors program for next year. I tell you...
Although I am not happy to hear what you are going through I can SOOOO relate. I have a 7 year old son that has many of the same issues that Trent has. Cam is the model student. Never breaks the rules and the grades are perfect. Yet when he comes home, all hell breaks loose. My 13 years old daughter bears the brunt of it. She gets hit, yelled at, kick, etc. So don't my husband and I but I feel for my daughter. I just can't understand why it does not happen at school.
Very sort of loopy and in lala land, but once his system adjusted to it he has done well with it. I'm very sorry your grandson is so stressed and upset, and I truly feel for you and your daughter. I do think that I would push the school about the issue further. It's a scary thought to feel like our children aren't being treated right by these caregivers but it happens. I am paranoid about just that with my son.
You don't list ritalin in your list. Did you try a very low dose of that? Best wishes. This sounds very difficult for him.
meds are strong drugs, infact i felt no difference in cocaine and concerta, so if you will not give your kids cocaine stay away from uppers to help your kid concentrate in school, dont believe me, calculate your weight versus your childs, take the amount indicated for your weight, see how you feel not trying to be mean to darlene, infact i admire the fact that she is looking for help just be careful with the speed, i had a melt down last monday at the dentist office after getting a novicane sho
The drug may treat symptoms in the beginning but your child will pay a bigger price in the long run. I am now 26 and disabled by depression. I was on Ritalin since age 6. Take your daughter to a naturapath. Eliminate processed foods from her diet. Try whatever alternatives that you can: fish oil, flax oil, SAM-E, DL-phenylalanine or tyrosine. The ADD / ADHD medicines are not a long-term solution. They are toxic and damaging. I am living proof of it.
They will have no choice but to call the law. You could also hide a video camera in your room where he does not notice it and you can catch him in the act and turn to tape over to the authorities, I would just tell him that as he won't learn any kind of drug rehab in jail. Unless part of his probation required clean urine's. One dirty as he goes to jail. Or the old family intervention were everyone sits down and tell him what his options are.
I will tell you that my son has ADHD and ADD, and I am so scared of the day that they make me put him on that med, because of what it does, in mo they can force you to make your child take it, if they think that it is needed, or you lose all of your kids. I am no DOCTOR but I can give all of the websites that I have reseached with and tell you what it was like for me.
Adderall is a stimulant that affects your central nervous system, and in fact it is a very, very strong, level 2 classified amphetamine by the Food and Drug Administration, which places it in the same category as cocaine! Highly addictive and regularly abused! Never, ever take this drug before retiring for the evening, and in fact, you should never take any after about 2 or 3 P.M. if you are a day walker.
If anyone would like to know about them they are the Dietary Supplement Finest Natural Fish Oil and it 120mg in a chewables. It comes in a bag instead of a bottle. Thank you all for your advice. Please keep him in your prayers that this works and he can start learning like the other kids his age. I will let you all know how it works.
