My 6yr old male cat has allergic dermitis. He just had to get a shot last week b/c he had sores all over his belly from biting and scratching. Now he has a fat bottom lip. He had the same thing in February, got a shot and it went away. I read that fish based foods can cause allergies. He only eats chicken flavored food but I had just given him a salmon flavored treat a day or so before the lip flare up.

A lip (salivary gland) biopsy a very good diagnostic tool for Sjogren's. My rhuemy had me to a "cracker test"...try to eat some crackers without drinking anything and I could not do that so he had the lip biopsy done. There is a biopsy of the parotoid gland (more definitive) but it is a bit more invasive. This search for a diagnosis seems so long and arduous, but keep trying!

and when you said 3 years my heart sunk. Does this mean I will have to live with a fat lip for that long?

I have frequent canker sores, but dont get cold sores. My lip is swollen and feels strange and not sure if a sore is coming. Thanks.

Any idea how long the redness lasts? I did my first shot last week, used my thigh. A day later I got a "ring" of redness, just about the size of a nickel. Actually, it's about as close to a perfect circle as is humanly possible. It doesn't hurt or itch, isn't swollen or anything. Only the outer edge of the circle is red, not the area inside the circle. It's like a perfect little nickle sized ring on my leg. Mainly, I'm just curious as to how long they might last.

So much can depend on how far along you are. I was only a little over 4 weeks my last one and had what was a slighly heavier period then normal. It lasted longer as well. 7 or 8 days instead of 5. It will probably get a bit heavier for you if you were early, but may not be much more then that. Sorry you are going through this.

I had diverticulitis and have been on meds for four days and see little and/or no improvement Bowel Movements are thin and only take place with the help of colase. My questions are: 1. Initially when it occurred yesterday morning we iced it & it appears just as swollen today. How long will it take for the swelling to go down & should we be doing something else?
