Avatar n tn In the morning, my stomach feels near normal, then I take my pill and the cycle starts again. Anyone have any experience with this? how long is too long to be on this type of medication?
Avatar f tn I have been taking ranitidine for a few years now when I'm off my diet with no adverse side effects. I have taken the omeprazole with success, but stopped because I do not need a proton pump inhibitor, but rather an antacid when I have gluten in my system.
Avatar f tn aside from that i have read it has tons of side effects from urinary problems to mouth problems. avoid all gerd triggers, chest pains are symptoms of gerd(acid reflux) which is somehow connected to gastritis due to excess acids. avoid: chocolates, milk, tomato based products, oily and fried foods. try eating soup or rice porridge for a week.
Avatar n tn Just to warn you all that some people (me being one of them) experience severe side effects to Omeprazole that are not listed in package inserts or drug info that the pharamacy gives you with your perscription. Check out and search for omeprazole or prilosec. I was taking 40mg omeprazole for almost 3 weeks and it caused severe anxiety, chest pain, dizziness, tight feeling in my throat, arm and leg weakness, abdominal pain, insomnia, and high BP.I thought I was dying.

Avatar f tn Hi guys i have suffered with reflux on and off for about 7 years. Started off on omeprazole after endoscooy then inxe symptoms stopped would ease myself off them only for symptoms to come back at some point every year and so back on the meds. Last year i got some bad symotoms start up and was fed up with popping pills so tried dgl licorice with aloe vera juice instead. Worked a little but not entirely so went to doc and had another endoscopy (which came back all clear of any nastys).

Avatar n tn I gave up alcohol and got put back on another antidepressant (mirtazapine). This worked but had pretty bad side effects. I soon started to notice the return of gastritis symptoms. Over 2008 I experiemented with serveral antidepressants which all gave me horrible side effects, I ended up on a low dose of a tricyclic, dosulepin. My gastritis remained for most of the year, and i attempted drinking every 3 months or so untill it started to hurt again.
Avatar m tn you may use over-the-counter antacids after meals and at bedtime, although they do not last very long. Common side effects of antacids include diarrhea or constipation. Other over-the-counter and prescription drugs can treat GERD. They work more slowly than antacids but give you longer relief. your pharmacist, doctor, or nurse can tell you how to take these drugs. Avatar f tn I stopped taking the Omeprazole 2 months ago cause I know it can have some side effects if used for long periods of time. The GERD is back so I started taking Lanzoprazole two days ago. I know it takes time to work but the symptom that really bothers me is the throat/chest tightness and burning throat. I've had my heart checked out thinking it was coming from there but my heart is healthy with no structural problems. I have constant mucus too.
Avatar f tn I will do what you recommended and will see how long it will take me to put this anxiety disorder as well as its other bad effects under control.
Avatar m tn com is a good site for giving great detail on the pharmacology of meds, such as when the active ingredient reaches peak blood plasma level). how soundly do you sleep? Do you wake up thoroughly refreshed?
Avatar n tn With the amount of IFN and riba you'll be taking there is a possibility of side effects which should have been part of the decision process. Options for you may be to consult with a new doc (preferably a liver specialist) but at least continue your HCV-Tx education and get with the doc to map out how tx (blood work, rescue drugs, viral testing) will proceed throughout the Tx. Good luck Simple.
Avatar n tn When I talked to him on the phone last he said I do not have dysplasia. I am not sure exactly what he meant by the pre-Barretts. My guess is Barretts without dysplasia. The info you and Isabeljo gave me is the type of info I was looking for when I paid to have this posted. Thanks.
Avatar f tn // Muscle cramps are the first thing listed. Diuretics (water pills) are often prescribed to treat ascites and portal hypertension. Perhaps a different medication should be considered by your doctor.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking the omeprazole as it didn’t appear to be working and last thing I feel I need if I have anything to do with nerves is a medication that depletes vitamin B 12, one of its side effects. Horrible intermittent sensations in chest and throat (either side of windpipe) that can last for up to or over an hour. Difficult to describe – internal quivering/discomfort almost pain. Also under ribs on both sides. Slight headache.
1534233 tn?1308025645 A recent stress test will give many answers, but don't be too concerned about the GTN. I had a total blockage in my left coronary artery and GTN did nothing except give me nasty headaches. It doesn't work for everyone. It may be of interest to know that when I was on beta blockers I sweated a lot, even after a very small amount of exertion. Sometimes just sitting in a chair I would have a hot sweat. Maybe the medication is related.
284078 tn?1282620298 I have done my best to warm people about the sight threatening side effects from Topamax, but this last week I have seen the worst case scenario up close and personal. This patient was a 65 year-old man on only 25 mg of Topamax a day for headaches. It took us over 8 hours just to get the eye pressure under 50 (which is still about 3 times normal.) He was rapidly losing vision from an attack of acute angle closure glaucoma IN BOTH EYES.
Avatar n tn I was in a terrible car accident causing me to be in the hospital for one month and now leaving me on Plavix for 5 months so far. i have had many of the side effects; nausea, dizziness, fatigue, easy bruising etc. but lately something came up that shocked me, i don't know how long they have been there for, but my throat had been hurting for about 2 weeks and i looked in my mouth and saw white lesions and ulcers in my mouth.
Avatar m tn Harvoni Geno 1A IL28B Age 60 3rd treament in past 18 years 170 lb Diabetes 2 Stage 3/4 Cirrhosis Major bleed back in 8 years ago Okay Feeling fine and no side effects but the day is early. I will try to keep the posting updated during the next 24 weeks Best Wishes to all as we fight the HEP C.
Avatar m tn Obama-appointed FDA officials vowed to revisit the Bush-era decision last fall after congressional investigators accused the agency of being too cozy with the companies it regulates. Since the device's approval, the top two device regulators who oversaw Menaflex's review have left the agency. Four New Jersey Democrats -- U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone and Steve Rothman and U.S. Sens.
Avatar m tn It has completely controlled my severe chronic heartburn and, as evidenced by a recent endoscopy, has really protected my esophagus which is in rather good shape considering how long I've had GERD. The problem is, in the last couple months, I've been getting breakthrough symptoms. I've been getting these relatively mild but worriesome heartburn episodes and alarmingly to me I've been getting a new symptom which is waking up several times a night with an annoying and persistent dry cough.
1140722 tn?1266356279 An endoscope is run down the esophagus where suction pulls a flap of tissue down in order to guard the esophageal opening from the harmful effects of stomach acid. Fasteners keep the tissue permanently in place where it will eventually fuse to function naturally. At the end of recovery, a protective barrier prevents acid reflux and the symptoms that go along with it.
Avatar n tn I have had PVCs for a little over 10 years. I noticed mine normaly come at 2 different times. after I eat. AND they can come if I skip a meal. after I eat, could I need digestive aids? Or am I eating foods that my body can't break down? Food sensitivities? Looking to start a food journal to see if I can pinpoint something. I know if I'm laying in bed and my heart skips, sometimes I can sit upright and burp and my heart goes back to normal. Does that mean it's gas?
1516249 tn?1423465385 Reduce the dosage if you get Sore throat or other such symptoms as listed in side effects link below. Use a alternate day or Mon-Fri consumption to avoid any side effects. Just watch out for any side effects (sore throat etc) but if you stick to lowest dose of 1 Tea spoon a day 5 days a week you shall be fine. I took this for around 4 weeks, stopped for a week and restarted. This is to be done for 3-4 months.
1210142 tn?1266080631 No assimilation of Calcium, Vitamin Bs, Magnesium (which can affect your heart), increased broken hips... In summary, I would not worry for the interaction with Plavix, since probably you no longer need it, I would be very worry for taking them without a clear diagnostic or reason. If you have got a gastroscopy and they did not see the reason of your pain, chances are that you will get nothing from PPIs. If you have not got the gastroscopy, I would get it before going on PPIs for life.
Avatar n tn What was your treatment for your Hep C? And how long have you been CURED? I just started Harvoni April 6, and so far no side effects other than being a little tired.I was like that also on Interferon and Ribavirn for 48 weeks. No sign of HepC while not the meds, but it came back. Lower viral load but back none the less. I really hope this works this time. I do not want to have to worry about everything any more. I have lived with this since I was 17-18 years old.
Avatar m tn As of today, 3/28, I advised my Nurse Practioner (Kaiser's name for doctor's aide) that I'm stopping Celexa. Dr had me on 10mg every other day since last week and I just can't deal with the side effects= extreme tiredness, "foggy head", moments of vertigo, irritability, quick to anger and overall sick feeling as if I was coming down with the flu or a cold. It may work for some folks but it's not working for me. I'll update you all when they decide what to switch me to if anything.
