Does anyone know for how long Lyrica withdrawal symptoms last for? I was on Lyrica for two and a half weeks and the side effects made me quit cold turkey. 3 months later I still have withdrawals!!!

I was curious if anyone experiences really wretched side effects with Lyrica? I find it numbs my mind almost uncontrollably, and causes me to walk around in a fog for most of my day. Unfortunately, my doctor put me on a *very* low dose, because I was concerned about these very side effects. I was hoping someone could tell me whether or not these side effects actually went away, if the body eventually adjusted to them?

You are experiencing side effects of Neurontin, is all. Diff people react diff ways to it. Me, I have nausea that bothers me a lot. The weight gain you ask about is one of the side effects, as are the other problems you are having. I've been taking it for two years, and I also started out on Lyrica, but becuz of cost I had to switch. Neurontin has only been around for about 15 years, so for at least for that length of time you're good.

She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. ve been told the start up side effects on Neurontin are about the same as Lyrica and it took me a little less than a week for that sleepy dopey feeling to subside, and after that I felt ABSOLUTELY normal- like I hadn't taken anything whatsoever. You are on a very SMALL dose, so you'll adjust to it quickly. I'll tell you a funny story- my first week on Lyrica- I accidentally backed out of my garage when the garage door was only half way open.

It is the medication that made her so fat. Look up the side effects in Google. Neurontin and Lyrica are both severe weight gaining and hardly help. My friend had the same nerve pains but "believed" in Neurontin, and I did not dare to say that she is round like a beer barrel. One must put every pill like on a scale and see, "Is it worth it or not"....Since she had anyway nerve pains, I just was wondering but did not want to hurt her feelings.

Right there near the top is loss of appetite, euphoria and a long list more. I will go out on a limb to add that the rare side effects have a greater possibility in older people (post menopause for obvious reasons) an A-type personality and / or weakened immune system, but as well for anyone suffering constipation or decreased urine output (common side effect of Lyrica) since then hour body is not washing the drug from our system and toxicity then becomes the fuel for yet more side effects.

Lyrica is typically much worse for weight gain! I gain 25lbs in 2 months on it, so went back to neurontin, which I can tolerate without gaining weight. But it is marvelous for nerve pain. If you follow a STRICT low-carb diet, you can hold off the weight gain. At least that is what I have been told. Lyrica is wonderful for nerv e pain/neuropathy, at least it was for me. Good luck.

I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.

I can't really speak to how long it takes for side effects to subside with Lyrica, but 3 weeks "seems" like a good trial. I do know that I have had similar side effects with different meds, but that they lasted much less long. I once tried Trazodone and felt so bad, there was no way to continue it - disorientation was severe. Are you trying to work through all of this? Do you have to drive? You have 5 more days. Are the effects letting up any at all?

I do know lyrica can work great for many..i exerienced too many side effects from it but many do not.I take neurontin which is similare but no drowsy dise effect//cept the first week or so//and lyrica made me a bit loopy....if they get ur dose right lyrica can help more with pain than narcotics anydat of the week..specially fibro pain..

30 PM it starts to take effect a hour to two after I take it. I sometimes go into a fog where it feels like I'm in a bubble listening to someone talk and I can't really comprehend what they are talking about. My tongue does not work right and I studder sometimes which I never did before. I can't come up with simple words to put in a sentence to finish it. My fingers, hands and feet feel like there is glass in them and I have a feeling of shaking but it's only inside.

It could well be a question of dose; I didn't notice any significant reduction in pain until 300mg/day. Even then, I still had a lot of trouble and so I move up to 600mg/day. While I have had several months with far less pain (yippee), I am still evaluating the trade-off between Lyrica's side effects versus pain reduction. Long term I am undecided whether I'll remain on Lyrica permanently or not. Be aware that higher doses may mean stronger or even different side-effects.
