Avatar f tn Ironically, earlier this year I had three stones of various sizes. I had a Cat Scan at a local ER that showed the stones, all 3 under 5 mm in size. I then had another Cat Scan done at the VA within a month or so and supposedly it showed no stones at all. Keep in mind that off and on during this time period I was having severe kidney stone pain too and very bloody urine.

Treatment often causes something called the Herxheimer reaction, a presentation or relapse of symptoms." http://www.lyme-disease-research-database.com/lyme-disease-rash.html This article is more conservative: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn t think its THAT urgent but you def need to go asap. It could be kidney stones! I found out last night that I have kidney stones and I have every symptom you have! I had sharp pains in my lower back for 2 weeks, cloudy urine, the last 2 days I have had constant dull pain in my lower right back (under my ribcage)... I went to the doc yesterday and they found blood in my urine so I had a CT scan done today. It could be a really bad uti or kidney infection...
Avatar m tn If you only had one stone, slight discomfort after passing it is possible, but that discomfort should not last very long. 3 mm stones normally do not cause me any discomfort after they pass. It's usually the ones bigger than 3 mm that cause me what I call "aftershocks", or discomfort for a little while after I pass a stone. That discomfort certainly doesn't last more than one day either and is very off and on and not steady discomfort.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies have any of yous experienced the oh-so-lovely pain of kidney stones? Also once it passed how long did kidney pain last? The hospital I attended to didn't help nor my doctor was any help! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks.I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Not kidding it IS worse than having a baby. MY ob said they don't effect the baby at all and pregnant women are more prone to getting them.had any body else had this problem.
540521 tn?1221699706 I was diagnosed with kidney stones about 7 months ago, and i have done everything my Doctor has told me to do as far as drinking water and i was drinking so much water that it was making me sick, so i cut down on how much i was drinking. I have not yet passed the stones and i am still getting pain and the stones will not pass. The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get?
Avatar m tn How long it takes to pass a kidney stone depends on how much water you drink also...at the age of 60 I have learned when I feel pain the first thing I think of is to drink some Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water as strong as my taste will allow and as much as my taste will allow...I believe the vinegar makes the stones brittle so they will break down easier...I believe it also removes the stickiness from them so again they break down and don't cluster together...
Avatar m tn m figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
895634 tn?1283989210 They will perform some tests to determine what type of stones you may have, how many and how large your kidney stones are. A KUB (kidney, ureter, bladder) x-ray is usually given to see the stone's location and estimate their size. Also you mentioned you had an MRI recently. If it was an MRI of the abdomen, the stones would have been seen in the MRI. If they are small and can pass then a pain killer to help you pass the stones is appropriate.
4499377 tn?1373555885 When I went in on Tuesday before the pain began, they did a urine test and found no evidence of kidney stones, bladder or kidney infections. I do have chronic kidney stones but I have never had pain with them... Even 5mm and larger stones. Just bloody urine. And I never had bloody urine. I have had no other issues with my pregnancy - that night with the pain was a serious surprise especially since I have a higher tolerance for pain than most people.
20837096 tn?1529680545 I never experienced anything like this in all my years of endless kidney stones. I gave my Urologist my 6 stones I had collected f5ir the year. They are calcium stones. I went from having 1ir 2 a year to several since 2013. They did a cat scan U think it was and that's when the cyst was found. I've had no symptoms for that either. I'm scheduled to have a MRI with and without contrast on the 29th. So for now it's a wait and see.
Avatar f tn I am having a lithroscopy to break up kidney stones a stent may have to be put in place in order that the stones can pass. I have read and heard how uncomfortable this can be and are there other options to having a stent put in place.
Avatar n tn has anyone else experienced a kidney infection/ stones during pregnancy ... what did u do for the pain .... all my doc told me was heat but my god is this miserable .. last time I passed a stone they dopped me up on pain meds which is obviously not an option this time ... please help me !! ...
Avatar f tn The pain could be new stones or due to stones passed down from the kidney. If they are radio opaque they can be picked up by X rays. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Microscopic hematuria will persist as long as there are stones in the urinary system. Please go through this link for some valuable information on kidney stones: http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/Kudiseases/pubs/stones_ez/ Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn This past friday at 1:20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!
Avatar f tn Yes pen, when the Urologist goes in and gets them and takes them out, it is most likely an outpatient procedure (day surgery). My Urologist took 3 stones out of my right kidney last year and one was blocking urine flow from my kidney which caused it to swell up somewhat. No stint was required though. All done in a one day, outpatient surgery situation.
4801019 tn?1359345412 well first off I would like to say my name is Chris I am a healthy 29 year old white male from Texas, I don't have high blood pressure I only have asthma and migraines every now and then. Here recently about is this time last year I had a bout with a bladder infection, I was put on 3 different types of antibiotics, I was checked for kidney stones and bladder stones and those test results came back negative.
Avatar f tn UTI can also be due to the polycystic kidney disease as well. Kidney stones and kidney failure are late-stage symptoms of the disease. I suggest you an immediate urologist’s evaluation. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option. Also her renal functions need to be studied.
Avatar m tn i have been to see my gp a month ago with kidney stones, painfull cramps ,the pain has gone but im passing alot of blood when i urinate and it also stings when i urinate which is about 20 times a day im male and 29 years old any help please
Avatar f tn They can do Utererscopy or URS on stones still in the kidney... but, kidney stones have to be in the urine collecting part of the kidney, the parenchyma to be removed... other than if stuck in the ureter, bladder, and the junctions from kidney to ureter and the other one. I can't remember all of this. This is an intracorporal procedure... the source to break up the stone is inside the kidney. A utererscope is used with various attachments.
Avatar f tn How many here have dealt with kidney stones during pregnancy? I am 18 wks 5 days and have a stone that needs to pass. Hurts excessively. I had a stone with my last pregnancy at 34 wks. That time required surgery to remove. If this is not gone by Monday I may be headed that way again.
Avatar f tn How long did it take for the pain to subside? My son had Stent removal a little over 2 weeks ago and still has pain. He swears it is not as bad as the pain he was having before the procedure, but a recent sono showed small stones in kidney so I'm not sure if his pain is Stent healing or stones. Docs aren't sure either.
Avatar f tn My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
