Avatar f tn I was on fluoxetine for over 6 years without any side effects, then i came off it for 6 months ,I then had to go back on it ,but it started to cause a stuffy blocked nose and ear and head pressure which then resulted in pain in and around the eye ,has anyone heard of this and has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar m tn I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
527657 tn?1214051850 Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.
1817640 tn?1323045243 How long have you been on the medication?
Avatar f tn I have not been on here for a long time so I hope it's still a helpful resource! I just started taking Wellbutrin (generic) last Monday and I have had the weirdest week. Shaky, off balance, this constant high pitched noise in my ears, one day a lot of energy and feeling pretty good, then feeling so crappy for most of the other days, and I've been waking up in the morning with an odd taste in my mouth, which by the way is like a dried up river.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Avatar f tn yes anti depressants can cause mania type reactions - usually in bipolar people, th'at is why I don't take them. Maybe get a second opinion on the diagnosis, that is not a particularly normal reaction for unipolar depression, When they were still giving bipolar patients anti-depressents regularly I tried every variety and had a particular problem with SSRI's.
Avatar f tn just a quick question if anybody can answer it for me dose a dose increase in fluoxetine (prozac) cause any side effects? I'm going from 20mg per day to 40mg tonight due to the fact i'm feeling the 20mg isn't working as good as it has done for me.
1817640 tn?1323045243 how long will i experience the side effects of my med , i started it about a week ago tomorrow, i think i have every possible side effect that there is for fluoxetine! HELP!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Mirtazapine is a good antidepressant and anxiolytic, with few side effects. It doesn't have the SSRI side effects like nausea, headache, initially increased anxiety and GI problems. In fact, due to the pharmacological profile it actually counteracts these side effects from SSRIs, which is why the combination is fairly common. It's a strong sedative (from the antihistaminergic effects) and can give you an energy boost the next day (from the noradrenergic effects).
219241 tn?1413537765 Hi all, I won't go into my very long story. I have just started Fluoxetine a few days ago, which I have already had some nightmares and loss of appetite from. I know they say it takes at least two weeks to kick in but I was taking St John's wort prior to this (my doc knew of this) My serotonin levels were extremely low. I was weepy but not depressed, well, maybe a bit around period time! Anyways, I have since found out the generic is Fluoxetine but the trade name is Prozac.
1679320 tn?1306382914 Hi I'm new to this forum. I just started the same meds on Sunday 7/3. Seems to have taken the edge off already, but I'm still feeling very anxious, nervous and am tired of my hands being all clammy. How long does it take to feel normal again? Starting some therapy next week...can't wait.
Avatar n tn Long story short, after 3 weeks of being on the increased dosage if I persist and wait a few more weeks will the side effects to go away, is it normal for an increase in dosage to have this affect and how long do the side effects usually last? Or should I go back to my GP and be reducing back down to 20mg until I see the psychiatrist. If it is likely these are just interim side effects I can persist for another few weeks.
6021583 tn?1413069126 You can have start up side effects when starting a new med. This can include increased anxiety. The side effects usually get better in a few days. I hope your Dr does call you back. This med should be tapered with the help of your Dr. If he does'nt call by mid day give him a call.
Avatar n tn I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
Avatar f tn ve been suffering from periods of depression and anxiety for the last 5 years. To cut a long story short it came to a head last month and decided to start a course of Sertraline (50mg). As most people taking anti depressants would say it takes 1-2 months to get the benefits and also putting up with possible side effects. I personally had the side effects of extreme tiredness/ lethargy, lack of motivation and slight Nausea.
Avatar n tn Hi all! I just started back up on Prozac about three weeks ago now. Come to think of it, it has been 22 days. For the past 22 days, I have been having some awful dizzy spells. When I say dizzy, I don't mean lightheaded or faint. I mean it literally feels like the world is moving when it's not. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? And if so how long did it take for it to pass? I experienced this with Effexor, previously, and it took exactly one month for it to pass.
Avatar f tn Not to worry though, give it a couple weeks atleast for your system regulate and get use to the new drug and its effects. Of course if after 2-3 weeks these side effects remain bothersome contact your doctor, it may be this is not the anti-depressant for you. I hope that helps. Good luck, Shanna please private message me anytime as I have much experience with fluoxetine.
