ve been taking 500-2000 mg of L-Tryptophan daily for the past 2 weeks to see if it would help me replenish my serotonin as I got off of Celexa (SSRI) over 2 months ago and have horrible anxiety and signs of overpowering dopamine. I've concluded that an SSRI may be something I need go go back on as I've been unsuccessful in feeling even remotely better. My question is how long do I need to wait before safely getting back on Celexa to avoid Serotonin Syndrome?

90 days is a common turning point, but it doesn't stop there. Yes, methadone can take a long time to recover from. I was on twice as much as you and it took me 10 months to feel good. It is rough, but totally worth it. Hang in there. Are you taking vitamins and getting enough electrolytes and amino acids? That really helps. What are your other symptoms, maybe we can help with supplements to get you through.

Withdrawal symptoms are truely terrible...I don't know how gradually you stopped, but it should have been over three weeks, with the last dose being the smallest possible every other day before you stop...if you didn't do that, then try to take smallest dose you can take every other day, along with klonopin, and when you withdrawal symptoms stop, then keep it up for one more week, then stop.

Has anyone out there experienced this with such a short course of Celexa (Citalapram)? How long will this continue? My Doctor says it will be over soon but I'm not sure he really knows. re feeling now consistent with how you felt before going on Celexa or is this different? Do you have very different emotional and physiological symptoms? That would indicate withdrawal. You have to come off these meds as slowly as necessary, particularly when you've been on them a long time. It takes the brain a while to relearn how to function normally, and the dormant serotonin receptors that the brain felt it didn't need due to the artificial action of the Celexa are waking up.

I am still having some severe symptoms, not always but it comes and goes, mostly it is there to some degree though. My question is, what is the longest these symptoms can last? I have read 7 weeks, 3 months, and everything in between. Surely someone must have an idea of the longest they can last. That is a very interesting story, going cold turkey on Celexa and not having withdrawal side effects. For anyone reading, do not do this because the withdrawal mental effects can be unnecessarily agonizing and pointless. In your case, you had no choice the way you describe it, so I am not passing judgement. What was your dose? You should talk to a pharmacist immediately though for information.

The only thing i noticed is that when I got stressed my jaw would continually push open and I continued to grind my teeth long after the med was stopped. I stopped celexa again for throat surgery and this time when I stopped my jaw started pushing down and forward and I started making the full blown frowning of grimmicing. I also sometimes make a chewing motion. gets worse when i'm under stress and all goes away when I'm just getting ready to dose of to sleep.

You don't say how long you were on the Celexa, but all the symptoms you are reporting are side effects of that medication. That you are no longer taking it could POSSIBLY indicate a "rebound" effect due to withdrawal. The dose of Zoloft you're on is the lowest available and it usually takes a few weeks to reach therapeutic levels.

is this normal, how long does this last by biggest concern is my memory seems shot, life feels like a dream,and i keep getting throbbing/pulsating headaches in the side of my head. i was on 1mg for about 6months after cutting it to .5 i didnt feel to bad, after just cutting from .5 to .25 life is getting horrible, but he assures me this is what i need to do. im currently taking 40mg of celexa as well and i feel like breaking the bottle over his head cause its not doing sh*t obviously.

s like to go through antidepressant withdrawal. The best thing to do is taper very slowly if possible to help with the withdrawal. Your past that point though since you quit cold turkey 3 weeks ago. It's really hard to say how long this will last. It could stop at any time or it could go on for a few more weeks. You could always go back on the Celexa and wean off slowly. But, since your already this far into stopping it completely, you can just ride it out.
