How long before restasis works

Common Questions and Answers about How long before restasis works

restasis

Avatar f tn m pleased to know works much more often than 15%. The study on restasis was done a long time ago, on people with big big problems and wasn't continued long enough to see the improvement. Restasis is the second most prescribed drop in the USA and its use is increasing here and worldwide (my wife is on it and thinks its the best medication ever made). Nothing works on everyone and I'm sorry it didn't work for you.
184420 tn?1326739808 I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar m tn No restasis works with a plug. What usually would be done is a "permanet" plug that won't disolve but that is easy to remove because it has a cap would be put in and left till you switch to restasis. Collagen and dissolving plugs usually just last several weeks at most.
Avatar m tn My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly. Read the section on dry eyes on my blog page.
Avatar f tn If restasis works then you stay on it perhaps for the rest of your life. It is a very safe medication with very few side effects. Don't plan on living as long as most people if you don't want to be dependent on medications.
Avatar m tn Yes good luck. I hope restasis works as well for you as it has for me.
Avatar f tn did your floaters go away when you stopped restasis? if they go away how long did they last ?
Avatar f tn I will be making an appointment this week. I am thinking I have become allergic to Restasis. Do you have itchy eyes? And how long did you use it before noticing problems? Please post if you learn more about this.
Avatar m tn s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
Avatar n tn For aqueous deficincy you can try artificial tears like hypotears and standard dry eye treatment or if nothing works restasis. It is unlikely you have ocular candidiasis.
447130 tn?1225470866 I just went back on Abilify since Geodon sent me into another world. I took it before and it worked but I gained weight so they took me off. I can't remember how long it was before it started to make a dent in my BP. I've been manic and this is the 1st time this has happened. Maybe it was the meds? I'm scared because I'm technically not medicated until the Abilify kicks in. Anyone know from experience?
Avatar m tn I use Restasis before plugs. Restasis increases quality of tears and reduces inflammation. Plugs best put in by ophthalmologist Eye MD.
Avatar f tn I tried OTC preservative free drops, lotemax, restasis, omega 3 fish oil, and am drinking a lot of water. My remedies are helping but this condition is awful and I'm not sure if I'm doing enough to reduce the symptoms. Is there anything else I can try to help my condition? I know that my pink eye had something to do with my tear production so I was hoping someone else had a similar experience and had a successful remedy to deal with this.
Avatar n tn Pred Forte is a ultra stong steroid with many possible side effects. It is not a long term treatment for either dry eyes or blepharitis. You should try and get off it as soon as you can and see an Eye MD ophthalmologist for treatment. Avatar n tn After taking restasis for over a year and my dry eyes was not getting better the Dr. gave me lotemax but said only use that. Now after using it for 2 months only, he said I shouldn't have stopped the restasis. Now I am really annoyed.....have I lost what improvement I may have gained with the restasis having stopped it for two months? Should I be seeing a opthomologist rather than a Dr. of Optometry???
Avatar f tn i had cataract sursery 9 months ago, have been noticing poorer vision, was diagnosed with 'dry eyes'. Have been using Restasis for two weeks now, eyes seem irritated, are red, I need to blink a lot. Is this normal? Will this go away if I have to use this product for the rest of my life? How is this helping me?
427279 tn?1210919821 Hi, I was wondering what you have been using for dry eye before he changed you to restasis? Did he do any test to see how sevier your dry eye is? I was considering asking about restasis, did he say it is safe or if there is any side effects with it? I'm glad he didn't find any of the other problems you mentioned.
Avatar m tn d restasis drops and recommended compresses and lid hygiene, also omega-3 supplements. did all that, still am doing it (sans restasis, since long term use is not recommended/eye pressure), no change. was referred to a corneal specialist, who basically just made me mad. he offered nothing. my impression is that he thought i was making a mountain out of a molehill, that i was not being truthful when i tried to explain to what extend my vision was affected by "?".
343006 tn?1314446471 I can't say for sure if the dry eyes are a side effect but there are treatments for it. There are OTC drops to help keep the eyes moist; there's something called Restasis (sp?) that the doctor gave to my Mom for her dry eyes. Hers were so bad the corneas were scratched up and her eyes were painful all the time. The Restasis wasn't comfortable to use at first because of the damage but now her eyes have healed and feel so much better. I do believe that's a prescription however.
Avatar f tn Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab. Totally unrelated probably but added just in case.
Avatar m tn Do these gel caps work and how long will it take for my vision to improve? Appreciate any help you can give me.
Avatar f tn Hi. I've been having trouble with dry eyes these last 2 months but have just realized how bad the fluorescent lighting is at work. I grade papers all day long under these lights. I'm not on the computer except to maybe print 1 or 2 things off. My eyes ALWAYS start to bother me around 1:00pm. Shopping at Walmart has always been a problem too. Just the wind from walking down the aisles makes it hard for me. It's very embarrassing.
Avatar n tn My Ophthalmologist and Dermatologist don’t want me taking doxy long term (why I don’t know since it works) and put me on Oracea, which doesn’t do the trick. Does anyone know what these pustules are? How should they be treated? They seem to affect tear production since I need to use a lot of artificial tears during these flare ups. The eyelids, both top and bottom, are red rimmed and the uppers have a band of red from the lashes to about ½ way up. I can’t find anything similar online.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was losing my eye sight about 2 weeks ago. It just came out of the blue. I had lens inplants in 2004. Been doing just fine. Until 2 weeks ago. My eye Dr. / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open.
