Biotin is an over the counter supplement. It is best to always ask your doctor if it's ok for you. My doc said it was ok for me.
The result was normal (non-reactive) but as I read the patient instruction form more closely after the fact it mentioned avoiding the supplement Biotin 24-48 hrs before test. I took 330mcg within 24 hrs of being tested. Is this a big deal? can I trust the result of this test? Getting tested was a very stressful experience and I really don't want to go through that again.
I now make sure that I take a biotin at least 4-5 hours before I shower and I have no itching at all. Yes, it stinks not being able to jump in the shower when you feel like it and not suffer with the itching but it has been a huge relief. Try it. I just buy the biotin forte (includes all the be vitamins) from the vitamin shoppe but just regular biotin works too. I always get at least 2500 mg.
I was taking zincovit multivitamin tablet daily once since 20 days ago before my test. Each tablet contains 150mcg/0.15mg of biotin in it. I took the test after 14-15hrs of my last dose.
1.Can you please let us know if this much quantity of biotin would have an interference on my test results. I started taking it before 20 days of my test.
2. Some websites says the biotin intake >1mg has interference on these tests. Is it true for tridot antibody test?
It is quite a large patch, but is covered somewhat by the hair above. I have long dark hair. I saw a dermatologist yesterday who said it would (probably) grow back and recommended Biotin and Rogain. He also said to eat more protein.
When I bought the Rogain I called customer service and was told that it is a life-time commitment because if you should stop using it the hair that has grown will fall out! Huh! No thanks.
I treated for 48 weeks and lost a LOT of hair. It started growing back a little near the end but then started falling out again. I think I lost about 70 or 80% of my hair. I'm now almost 18 weeks post-EOT and it is just beginning to grow back in. My doctor told me that a major medical trauma can make hair fall out for up to 6 months afterwards, but that its extremely rare for it not to grow back. She said as long as its not a "female pattern baldness" it should come back.
Lately I have been having constant anxiety and I rarely worry about things this bad or this long. I believe it is caused by Biotin because I had a similar fit about three years when I stopped taking Biotin, but I did not see a link then; I got prescription Ativan for anxiety took it for only three nights and the problem went away almost instantly.
Also eat a healthy, nutritious diet and drink plenty of fluids. The most important nutrients are biotin, silica, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, and vitamin B6. There are many eyelash growth products in the market, but their efficacy has not been scientifically proven. So consult a dermatologist before using any of them.

ve read that 28 days is conclusive but my wife started having swollen Lumph nodes that were tender at 53 days and after reading about things like how biotin can effect results and how flonase can immunosuppress I am extremely scared that I might be having a false negative result. I did not have many symptoms a little diarrhea at day 16 and 53, maybe a little fever but a lot of anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I made a mistake and do not want to hurt my wife.
