HI, After starting treatment with metformin, it may take a few months to achieve a pregnancy. This will also depend on your hormonal levels. Hence a careful follow up with your gynaecologist is necessary. Hope this helps.
If you won't ovulate on this dosage, then you will more to injectables, which will esure you that you will Ovulate ( its a very strong dosage of hormons)
My RE told me you should get your period 14 days after you ovulate. So, in your case day 36. Take a pregnacy test again.
I did not ovulate after three cycles of clomid (50, 100, 150mg) so the RE wanted to try metformin alone. how long does it take to regulate your cycle on metformin. Please any info about metformin would be great!
Then this month, jumprs back up to 48 days in the cycle!!! how long does it take for metformin to even stuff out enough to make cycles consistant? I have lost 37 lbs (17% body weight) and I just don't know what else I can do to make my cycles more normal! SOOOO tired of the pregnancy thoughts each month! My fiance and I are not actively TTC, but each month I think that I might be because of my cycle lengths! It is SOOO frustrating! Any advice???
todays is one of those days that feels like this fertility stuff will never end. Anyhow, I know many of you are taking metformin.... I start tonight taking 1 pill with dinner (and then increasing every week). I was wondering if metformin alone helped anyone resume ovulation?? Diva_Lorri, I think I remember you posting that you ovulated... did you use opk? Someone told me that it will be easier to lose weight once im on this medication.. is that true as well? Thanks...
Clomid and help you ovulate or help you have better eggs if you ovulate on your own! I started taking metformin this month and I has little side effects from it! I will be taking 2 pills a day starting tomorrow. you should take the clomid if your doc thinks its a good idea and will help you!
Now my doctor put me on Clomid 3-7...She told me to have intercourse any time after I finish taking Clomid to about 14 days after the first day of my last period. I hope it works out for the both of us! My only concern is that my AF was only 4 days and very light. I hope it still counts! Good luck to you!
I have been taking metformin since January and I am not pregnant yet.
Hello, If you are still having side effects from metformin you should discuss with your Dr about possibility of a different med. I don't believe you should just go off it. Apparently the effects of metformin take a few weeks to build up. you could try an alternative brand (the original) - glucophage. Ask your Dr. It works better for some than the generic. Rotate between fingers and also position on fingers.
I was diagnosed with pcos 6 months ago and i am on 500 mg metformin 2x daily... I just started my period after taking metformin alone for 12 days... i had been charting my b.b.t. for those twelve days and today i finally started bleeding! so my question is... do you have to ovulate to have a "normal" period? as you stated in the answer to sarar78 (metformin will not make you ovulate. In time it will help you to have normal cycles.
thanks. I understand that i ovulated on the 5th-9th day of the last pill, but am wondering if i hit the big O day by. Having intercourse 10/28, 11/2, 11/3,11/6. My last clomid pill was on 10/28.
Has anyone had the Mirena IUD and had it removed to ttc. I am just curious how long it took you to conceive after Mirena IUD removal? how long until your menstrual cylces were regular? I got my IUD out on Aug 5th and am ttc. I have had lots of spotting and maybe a period but nothing regular. I called my doc and they said that it takes 3 months before the hormones are out of your system. The mirena website makes it sound as though you can get pregnant anytime after removal.
if you ovulate you have every chance of getting pregnant..hope clomid works for you!
Thank you for your response. how long after starting the metformin did you get pregnant? I should get af thursday and start clomid day 5. If I started met now, would that be ok to try this cycle? I also will take prometrium after ovulating. Right now, I do ovulate each cycle, they just range from 30-45 days, sometimes longer. however, I am able to get pregnant very easily, just not hold it. I'm not sure if that's typical of pcos. Did you have any symptoms of pcos?
) can't wait to see if I ovulate early this cycle...that wishful thinking?? Not sure how quickly metformin takes effect?
HOPING4AMIRACLE- Are you planning on upping the met or just taking 500mg? have you gotten a fasting blood sugar done? Mine is a little elevated but not even in the pre diabetic range. I've lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks since I started it, and I weighed 145 when starting it. I've just upped to 1000 and am freaking out because I ovulated and feel like I need to be on more to prevent a miscarriage. So much to worry about! I've had 3, so I guess it makes sense.
And Higgins is right most doctors use clomid with metformin however clomid is not a good drug for women with PCOS, it causes cysts (and increases your chances for breast cancer) and current research shows that metformin alone is more effective at getting you to ovulate than the combo of drugs. I also have PCOS, we tried for 3.5 years so needless to say I've done a lot of research. you will get pregnant it just might take a little longer (not 3 years I had over 100 cysts).
The day of the cycle on which to take clomid depends on why you are taking it. to make you ovulate you are more likely to start cd5. But if you O w/o clomid and just take it to produce better quality egg or to produce more follicles you typically start cd 3. your ob or RE (whoever prescribed you clomid) should let you know when to start and how much to take. Good luck!
