1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?

Avatar f tn until we did a lifestyle change (moving to a new area). He has developed anxiety which we think is secondary to the short-term memory loss. We think the memory loss has increased, but it's kind of mixed up with the anxiety. We HOPE the memory loss is directly related to the Ambien, and being off of it will he return to 'normal'? We can deal with the anxiety, but not the memory loss.
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing some really irritating short-term memory loss problems (for myself as well as other people). Avatar f tn It is still very early in your moms recovery. I would say the short term memory will get better, but, how much is anyones guess. My husbands doctors never once said anything about Alzheimers. Find out what areas of your moms brain was hit. The hippocampus controls short term memory. If she was hit there, that's probably the reason for the short term memory.

Avatar f tn Beatrice, I had a brain tumor removed back in 99 and in 01. My short term memory is bad to say the least. I have drove to doctors appointments and didn't even know why I was there. It is now at the point where my doctor's call my wife and tell her everything because I will not remember. His short term memory might never get better but if he keeps repeating things enough it might make to into the section of the brain that controls long term memorys.

But the short term memory issue that is bothering you is a very real Chiari-related symptom. I am not knowledgeable about the anatomical explanation behind this memory loss. What I do know - as Selma says - a true Chiari specialist will know the validity of your symptoms - and give you the office time that you deserve.

Avatar m tn Although it may not be memory, it is the brain in general. For me, it is the absolute inability to focus on one task. A lot of the veterans here will say it takes time, but it will happen. They just reassured me to take baby steps, and only get done what you absolutely have to for the first month or two and steadily add more tasks as you feel comfortable. I'm at day 6ish of one of my millionith relapses.

You need a proper assessment and investigation here since there can be many causes for memory loss & concentration impairment.
