645800 tn?1466860955 So now I can finally put my pants on, but I then have to pull the legs up above the bottom of the knee braces as the top of the AFO attaches over the bottom of the knee braces. Of course the AFOs attach with Velcro straps as well and they stick to everything as well. Finally the struggle to get the pants legs down again past the AFOs. So far the fastest I have been able to do this is around 10 minutes. Oh and getting undressed is just as involved. So is all of this worth it?

Avatar f tn He did an ultrasound and drew off some more fluid and gave him another cortizone shot. The first doctor drew the fluid from under his knee and the second drew it from his knee cap. It has been several weeks now and his pain is back he still has a little swelling but now both his knees hurt. He wears a brace on both his knees now. He has trouble getting up if he has to get down on the ground for something. We are not sure what to do now because both doctors has told him all his test look fine.
Avatar m tn 3) Can I continue with sports such as cricket, cycling and swimming if I wear knee braces/supports? If yes then which kind of knee braces/support? (because I usually tend to injure my knee with the elastic knee supports more often than without it). 4) Would Yoga, magnet therapy or any kind of therapy help heal the knee joint? Thanks in anticipation...
Avatar n tn You could also look up knee strengthening exercises on the Internet. Use ice whenever possible and take Advil or other anti-inflamms. Also, knee braces work wonderfully. Go to your local drug store and buy a good one. Try it out by wearing it for a few days and see if it gives you any relief from the pain. Another thing that might help your pain is if you ask for and get a steroid injection directly into your knee joint. It can usually relieve pain for about a month or so.
4966610 tn?1362054308 I have a toy/mini poodle named Shadow who is over 12 years old. He weighs 12.5 lbs. He has several serious medical issues including a luxating patella (trick knee) on his right rear leg. Because of his age, and his medical condition, I don't want to chance surgery to repair this as there is more of a risk of fatality from surgery and or anesthesia as he gets older. Unless there is some dire need for surgery, I am looking for a non surgical solution for this problem.
457721 tn?1256640798 This might be a silly question, seeing as I know all too well how painfull knee conditions are, but how painfull is Patellar Realignment surgery and how long did it take you to recover?
Avatar f tn I'm really hurting and I'm about to be 33 wks... think I'm going to go buy knee braces or something. .. weight is probably the issue, I wonder if a cold or hot pack will work. ..maybe icy cold gel, not sure if safe though. . I'm just glad tomorrow is Friday! ! Msunpredictable, id do the same if i were 38. .lol Amanda, how long before it went away, it does feel like I have fluid, but not swollen. ..
Avatar m tn Hence first physical therapy is started. Other treatments include knee caps and braces, taping the patella to reduce friction, anti inflammatory drugs, custom designed foot wear to correct arch problems if any and rest to the knee joint. Please discuss these treatment options with your specialist. You probably need an initial period of rest for the knee (maybe strapping it in braces) followed by physical therapy. Take care!
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to wear knee braces whenever I am going to be on my feet a lot. The knee braces help a little but they drive me crazy. My doctor told me that I need to have knee surgery on both of my knees in order to prevent it from getting worse. I have refused the surgery and now two years later they are hurting worse than ever.
Avatar f tn I was told that I have patella feminel pain, I am use to having trouble kneeling and walking after a shift at work and and my knee being weak and the knee cap moving around, but lately even when I am not doing anything it feels as though something is push up on my knee cap, and extremely painful and I cant get the pain to go away. At time it feels as though something is being wedged under my knee cap.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I am doing exercise I found online and wearing knee braces during karate. Nothing seems to help. The doctors keep telling me sorry just wait I out take 4 advil when they hurt. That doesn't help at all. Is there something else I should do or suggest to the doctors?
Avatar m tn I read that dental work may cause an outbreak if i have hsv, but i'm not sure if i do since i've never gotten an outbreak but have dated people with oral herpes, but they've never suffered an outbreak after the initial. whats the % of outbreaks caused by dental works? since i need to get a tooth removed for braces.
1308443 tn?1302693321 m very flat footed. MRIs and blood work is normal. This weekend my right knee began to have pain at the top of my knee cap. It feels like it is stuck on the pop. I can still get my knee to pop but it still feels like it is stuck on another pop. Usually my knees only hurt on the bottom or on the sides but never on the top. What is this? I know that my knee can't get stuck on air but that's what it feels like. What is going on and how do I get it to stop?
Avatar f tn m not a doctor and cannot diagnose your condition, a knee brace might be a suitable solution for you. Knee braces can provide support, stability, and pain relief for various knee issues, including meniscus tears. By wearing a knee brace, you can alleviate some of the stress on your knee and promote healing.
Avatar f tn There is controversy as to how helpful this supplement is in improving arthritic knee pain, but some patients do report benefit with long-term use. As you've had regular medical checkups and MRI without any findings, you may consider discussing with your doctor some next steps which may include: physical or occupational therapy, an exercise program, or wearing knee braces, to name a few.
Avatar f tn I dislocated my knee in April this year, went to the hospital and they popped it back in. It took from April to July for me to recover, with different knee braces and pysico. A week after getting discharged from the hospital in July, my knee dislocated again however this time it popped back in by itself, it took until September for it to be fixed. I just got discharged from physio last week (November).
233622 tn?1279334905 I am not sure what AFO stands for but they are braces that go from just under my knee down under my foot. They are for foot drop and help support my legs and hips. They are not bad but it makes wearing shorts or a dress not as attractive as it used to be.

Avatar m tn Look for a good manual therapist. They typically treat not just the knee but also look at how your calf and hip are affecting your knee.
8377023 tn?1399509160 Will the er take your braces off? Im wondering because they were supposed to be taken off last year. I havent even gotten them tightened since the first year I had them. And it will be $700 if I get them taken off at the place I got them put on. They are wearing away at my enamel and causing me to get a serious infection in my gums, which I know is bad when you are pregnant.
405614 tn?1329144114 My knee started hurting pretty badly again yesterday. I finally called today to make my physical therapy appt, while explaining all the other issues with my health. Luckily, they know me at this place, so they know most of it, though the possibility of MS will be a shocker for them. I got an appt. for Thursday afternoon with a therapist they just told me the first name of.
20881263 tn?1561816684 There are many knee braces on the market. Your orthopedic doctor can probably direct you quite easily and places like Amazon sell them as well. Let us know how you are doing.
999692 tn?1250637950 I injured my knee when I was eighteen in a bicycle crash. I am now 28 and know I'd need surgery to fix it. I need a knee brace and to do strengthening exercises so I can still hike, bike, and run. Any suggestions on braces that can withstand such abuse?
Avatar m tn Hi, as the Mom of a level ten gymnasts, I've heard all of this before. One thing to consider is simply that your level of activity is just hard on a body that is still growing. There is a syndrome called, (now I will butcher this, so if anyone knows better, jump in) Osgoods-slaughter, or something like that, which simply means that your tendons aren't growing as fast as you bones. Several people on our teams over the years have had this. The cure, is time.
199882 tn?1310184542 I got 2 knee braces (my knees give way very easily), wrist and finger roll braces (wear for a little bit each day to help with hand and finger cramps), back brace (helps my posture and lower back), gel seat or back cushion, and a gel mattress pad for my bed. I got all this stuff from a medicare equipment dealer. If interested in getting items that may help you, I have the number for Oklahoma residents. I'm sure every state has their own.
Avatar n tn Hi, One of the most common problems involving the knee joint is an anterior cruciate ligament tear. The anterior cruciate ligament is the primary restraint to forward motion of the shin bone (tibia). Thus, ACL prevents the tibia from sliding too far forward and also contributes stability to other movements at the joint including the angulation, rotation at the knee joint.
