I have been diagnosed with the flu type b on Monday. My fevere goes up and down but really doesn't stay down permanently. I am taking tamiflu, theraflu, Motrin as prescribed by the doctors. My throat feels ripped open and today I noticed that there is some blood in the phlegm that I cough up. Is this a sign of pneumonia?

the virus itself causes pneumonia, pneumonia is a symptom not a condition....check the expiration date on the tamiflu and a pneumonia shot probably wont do any good seeing as this is an unseen unheard of virus until now.

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I have then flu now and my doc put me on tamiflu. The studies that have been done in animals on the drug don't show any issues but it hasn't been tested enough. The cdc does recommend treatment with tamiflu if u have the flu or are exposed to someone with it while pregnant. The med will cause gi upset like nausea and vomiting amd diarrhea in 20% of people who take it. It's worth considering since flu rate deaths are highest in children, pregnant women and the elderly.

ve super sick since yesterday went in to the er tonight and was told i have the h1n1 infuenza they told me i have to be put on medication wich is tamiflu but i am so scared for my baby I'm am 31 weeks pregnant and have two other kids has anyone experience this while pregnant and took that medication was it safe for baby?

Do you know what worries me about all this though is, IF lots of people are being misdiagnosed they are walking about thinking they are immune, when they simply had a cold or similar. So if this does happen and they have been given tamiflu for the wrong reason it probably wont work when they need it. Not only that it will give false figures and when we think we are in the clear, all the people who were misdiagnosed will probably catch it later towards the winter.
