Avatar n tn s worth it. Sumatriptan really does NOT work as a tablet, so... if you are taking a tablet form of it, you NEED to get onto another triptan. Talk to your doctor. You could also try taking the following supplements too... and this isn't a midwives tale or new-age health food hippy stuff... this has been scientifically proven, well... the b2 has...
Avatar f tn I've have had chronic migraines for a few years. My current neuro has me on Nortriptyline (20mg every night) and Sumatriptan (100mg take when needed; MAX: 2 times in a day, only twice in a week). My mom has her own medical problems, which include migraines, so I'm switching to her neuro. I've been waiting about 6 months for my appointment, which is finally coming up in March. This guy is very popular, so getting your first appointment is a long wait.

The Sumatriptan tablets work well for many people, so if they work well for you then that would be excellent and you can just stick to them as your only prescription. Although, due to the extremely low bioavailability of Sumatriptan tablets, they do not always work well for everyone (although Sumatriptan is still the most prescribed triptan on the market).
Avatar m tn Initially the onset of the pains subsided and he went nearly 4 weeks without a pain, although the tight feeling remained and he had to stay cool to keep them at bay. They have since returned to how they were, suggesting either the surgery didn’t work, some of the work carried out has since 'failed' or the build-up of mucus has begun again.

Avatar f tn Your doctor will need to train you how to properly inject yourself with the sumatriptan and your doctor will also need to train you how to properly give yourself oxygen (if used by a trained person for short periods of time, oxygen therapy is totally safe... if used by an untrained person, oxygen can be lethal... if used for prolonged periods of time, oxygen therapy has some risks and side-effects). A good thing to always try with chronic headaches is: - 400mg of magnesium per day.
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry for what you have been going through. I started having migraines when I was 23. They couldn't diagnose me for 8 years because I had no migraine and had vomiting all night (only at night) and abdominal pain. The neurologist did an electroencephalogram and found it was a migraine. I was put on doxepin for a year and that helped but then it didn't work so they finally put me on Klonopin and it went away but then in my 30's it changed to severe migraine and auras.
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?

612876 tn?1355514495 Bad news and good news, my fellow dysautonomians (hrm, methinks I just invented a word?) ... The bad news is that my feeling of the fog rolling in yesterday turned out to be the impending doom of one of my really, really bad migraines coming on. For those who don't know, once in a blue moon I have these wicked migraines that put my "normal" migraines to shame.
