Buy a good quality Quercetin 500mg at your health food store. It can be taken 3 times a day. It blocks histamine and leukotrienes. My son is on Risperdal and quercetin and does very well.

Does anyone out there take Risperdal for Bipolar Disorder? I don't see hardly any mention of it around this site. Does it make you gain weight like Depakote? Does anyone out there take it for Bipolar Disorder Type 2? Any opinions or thoughts? I am currently on Lamictal and Welbutrin. I show mixed tendencies ( is that type 1 ),and my Dr gave me Risperdal for what appeard to be a manic state( I was off all meds at the time except Welbutrin which may have excaserbated my mania).

She returned from the doctors today with a prescription for concurrent risperdal for OCD. I know her very well. We used to work together and now that we've left work we spend all day together. In the evenings we go to each others houses for supper, our kids all play together and we frequently spend the night at each other's house. We are in constant text contact. My worry is that she does not show any symptoms of what i understand to be OCD.

This is only my own opinion. But for me any kind of medication is the last resort, especially whilst their brains are growing. All medicines have side effects. Some of the medication prescribed for autism/ADHD can have permanent effects such as tics etc. Also, you don't have a diagnosis yet, so how do they know what to prescribe? I know other parents who have had hormes prescribed to help with sleep.

The half life of Risperidone is 20 hours, multiply by 5 would be when it is completely out of your system so 100 hours so basically in less than five days it would all be gone. This information is from my PDR. It makes no difference how long you have taken a drug in how long it stays in your system.

There was one side effect that I read that sort of concerned me aside from the movement side effects. Does the inability to move the eyes always go away or can it be permanent? How long does it take for it to go away if it occurs?

Well doctor gave me 2mg risperdal. At the beginning i was ok. When i start to worry little bit i started to get ill. I was disable to concentrate on my work. Later i took seroquel 300mg which i took in past and found some freshness. I was smooth on seroquel but when doctor start changing medicine from seroquel to risperdal , slowly disaster begin on my life. I miss 2 jobs. Which was so easy. Later i took the seroquel back i felt some relief now.

I just started Invegra 3mg daily which is the new drug in lieu of Risperdal so I will be curious as to how it works. Supposedly, it is just like Risperdal but much more tolerated with less side effects. Maybe something to ask your doc about although I cant comment on personal usage as of yet since it is so new for me.

Boy,lots going on here. The first thing that comes to mind is it really PANDAS? Because, that does effect how this is handled. "The hallmark trait for PANDAS is sudden acute and debilitating onset of intense anxiety and mood lability accompanied by Obsessive Compulsive-like issues and/or Tics in association with a streptococcal-A (GABHS) infection that has occurred immediately prior to the symptoms.

( It does work ok, but makes me mega groggy all the next day. Lamictal gives me bad migraine headaches! So anyone else, I would love to see how risperdal works for you if anyone else takes it! thanks! (delusions, mania, hallucinations). i was put on risperdal and ativan. The doc wasnt gonna give me anymore cause i told him i was smoking pot. I was later hospitalized again and given ativan and risperdal again....after i had quit the pot use and the alcohol use...but didnt like the effect of them this time. So i tapered myself off them and straight into a manic episode with psychosis.

hi OrenCohen. I want to welcome you to Med Help. Is your doctor aware of this side effect you are associating with discontinuing the Risperdal? All medications such as this can have withdrawal issues. Cold turkey going without Risperdal would be very rare for a doctor to recommend. Are you sure this was what your doctor wanted you to do? Again, this is not a normal recommendation and especially for a 4 mg dose. You need to see your doctor again. Now, it's been 2 months.

should the 2mg dose of Risperdal taken am or pm? Problem with falling asleep. Other meds, 600 mg Lithium 2x a day and 1000 Depakote 2 times a day.

I may have to go off my Risperdal. My doctor is checking my hormone levels because my periods have stopped and I am lactating. He said if my hormone levels are high I can either add Abilify or replace the Risperdal altogether. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any medications that I could replace the Risperdal with. I would strongly recommend psychotherapy over any psych med. I can relate a little to what you're going through. I have put on some weight recently due to stress and emotional eating. My wardrobe is somewhat limited and I barely fit my clothes anymore. I am afraid that if I put on weight this week I won't fit into anything next week. I have a copy of Dr Gould's book on emotional eating and are slowly working through some of the exercises.

It seems to help with irritability and aggressiveness. Because of this, some doctors may use it for adhd if that is how a person presents. Now with regards to tics. My son has tics. He has two types. Simple vocal tics which are a hum or throat clearing sound.

How does one switch from Risperdal Consta (50mg Q2wks) to Invega Sustenna??

Can anyone tell me how Risperdone and Depakote together affect you. My 70 year old partner was very recently hospitalized and diagnosed with Bipolar. He was released with 2000 mg of Depakote and 2mg of Risperdal daily. He is doing quite well except for having to be hospitalized for a minor surgery and a temp, which during this time the depakote and risperdone were held for three days.

my son is 6 years old he has been on risperdal for 2 years now and i can tell you that his behavior has improved so much you do have to watch blood sugar while on it my son had some spikes in the 400 range but that was also right after eating something sweet and it only happen 2 times and it went back down to normal within the hour he has also started having some vocal tics i don't think it is do to the meds though infact the dr increased the risperdal he said it will also help with the tics

Little history, so I was diagnosed with ptsd, bipolar, and anxiety with agoraphobia. My pcp gave me risperidone 2mg and hydroyzine 25mg (3 times daily or as needed). I told my psych I didn't want the risperidone because of already existing obesity issues and I told her the hydroy was just drying out my nose and making me feel like I had a sinus infection all the time. So she gives me ativan 0.5mg (one a day), Prazosin 2 ( 1 @ night).
