how does morphine work

We all have doctor certified documentation that Morphine does not work for us. I found out the hard way when I went to the hospital for what I thought was a very painful ulcer. Turned out I had idiopathic pancreatitis. They gave me morphine in the emergency room and it did nothing. They gave me another does and again it did nothing. The dr. finally had them give me dilaudid and within seconds of it being pushed into my IV line, I got that warm feeling and no more pain. The dr.

I am anxious to be off morpine and not looking forward to it at the same time. How do I cope and take steps to doing all these things????

is this normal for someone who is on morphine? i have a feeling he has become addicted to it - does this make any sense at all to anyone out there who may have been on morphine?

I take 120 mg morphine er and I need to know how long it takes for the medicine to kick in. I also don't understand what percentage of the dose ( or mg ) produces relief in what time stages. I hope my question is understandable.

Morphine does cause nausea but I would be looking for other causes for bad stomach problems. This is for Deb who posted below. I have been on 120 mg morphine daily and norco for over 10 yrs, I have only had to use a laxative once. And that was because I had another surgery and didn't get proper exercise. Sounds like you were DOPED up if you can't remember things. If so I'm sure you weren't eating healthy or getting enough exercise. Same with your belly.

In the end our Neurosurgeon suggested the morphine implant. We were referred to a Dr who does this procedure only to find out that he is not contracted with Mass Health. Desperately seeking some help. He also has spinal stenosis, RSD also known as Cripps.

My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.

ive just come off fentanyl patches onto the morphine so i can taper down, my aunt who died was addicted to heroin so i know a bit about it so i just wanted to know the equivalent so i can understand roughly how much morphine im taking. thank you to anyone that can help. kind regards, carrie.

The sleeping pills are the same and 1 of highest dosage does not even make me drowsy, 2 and I can go to sleep within half an hr and sleep for 3-4 hrs at most. I have also been on Lyrica for the past yr. So now.....dr visit today to decide on better plan...he is "concerned" about the 180 Hydrocodone I am taking causes liver damage although he tested for liver function last month and it was fine. He says he knows I am in severe pain and need medication.

Self detox does work. People get clean every day. You can be one of those people too. And don't beat yourself up about things you did in the past to feed your addiction. We have all done things that we are ashamed of. But we aren't ourselves when we are in active addiction. So..you can't beat yourself up over that. What you can do though, is use those feelings and turn them into positive thinking and positive reinforcement.

I've been on Morphine Sulphate ER 60mg 3xday for about 18 months for a chronic pain condition (RSD). Boy, do I wish I had never started it or that my doctor would have warned me how hard withdrawals could be. I had no idea. I gradually went from 1 every 8 hours to 1 every 9 to 1 every 10, etc until I'm now on 1 every 12, but it took 6 weeks to get this far. Now my dr. only gave me 90 30mgs and I've tried taking 3/day and am having horrible withdrawals...

I don't have any personal experience with morphine,but the ratty,moody,not nice to be around I think we all experienced during the end of our using and certainly during w/ds.Addiction changes us into people that even we,ourselves don't care to be around,makes it hard to look into the mirror.During recovery we learn new coping skills and we find ourselves again.I know I have learned to like myself again and that makes me a much more pleasant person to be around....

It took awhile for the pain relief to become more constant after starting morphine as it does take some time to build up in your system. But as others mentioned, you may not metabolize morphine well and in that case you will not reach that steady state of pain relief. But Opana isn't morphine so I don't think you have actually tried true morphine.

i was put out of work cuz i could not funtion only weigh 113lbs now he has change me to 10mg of morphine i told him i am not comfortable taking morphine.

They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
