my doc said there is a lot of extra monitoring when you are taking lovenox because it does thin your blood and they need to be sure its not thinned too much best of luck

I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.

I have been taking it close to 2 months now, without any followup blood work. I am on Lovenox because earlier in my pregnancy they discovered I MIGHT have a Protein-S deficiency. They just say to keep taking the injections. Should I get a "second opinion"?

I've been doing Lovenox daily for the past 4 months and have never experienced this. In fairness, it's DH who does it for me!! Where are you doing it? I do it in the belly, either side of the belly button and at least 2 inches from the belly button. Are you pinching the skin? You should be pinching quite a chunk... as in, put your finger and thumb about 2.5 inches apart on your belly and push together.

Hi Amanda - I'd answered your question elsewhere but it looks like I got answers to some of my questions here, regarding the birth control and one condition combining with the other to cause the stroke. I was just reading up on Lovenox on Wikipedia and it listed situations where Lovenox and aspirin are used together to treat certain heart-related problems.

You know what? I actually had my DH do the shots in the beginning, but it ended up being easier to just do them myself...and I got less bruises that way too. After a while, you just kinda know how to give it to eliminate (or at least minimize) the bruising. One thing that's important with blood thinning shots, though, is to NOT rub it after, since that may cause bruises.

t ever remember it taking this long to start? Does anyone know how long until I should start to worry?? I have really sharp pains every now and again but no sign of starting?? Today would be day 5 post negative test? I stopped taking progesterone and lovenox right away??

I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now. Should I go ahead and take the baby aspirin now or wait? I was on Lovenox in both my pregnancies, and just gave birth to my second child less than two weeks ago. I'm not sure why your doctor wants to do a c-section—I had both of mine vaginally—but it is important to control the blood thinners towards the end. Usually what they do is switch you to heparin at around 36 weeks, since heparin has a shorter half-life, and will be out of your system quicker should you go into labor by yourself. Both of my deliveries were induced at 39 weeks.

I had bloodwork done by a ferility doctor and he sent me to a hematologist , cause he thought I had Lupus ,cause the blood work was suggesting that. (not bloodwork below) Hematologist said it looks like I have APS and had me repeat bloodwork, I guess I pass clots into my placenta when pregnant. I took novarel trigger, progestrone, estradal, and lovenox. My husband is good. He had a seman analysis and everything came back fine. Does that mean we won't qualify for IUI. I had a laporscopy done which found endo. My blood results found low progestrone, but now I am wondering if my doctor is just going through the motions. because after all this I still don't know what is going on. I am not an OB nurse and I am curious why your are taking lovenox during your pregnancy, do you have a previous clotting issue with your pregnancies? i spent 6 days in the hospital and was given 5 shots of Lovenox around my belly button. Lovenox is used to prevent blood clots. I immediately got huge bruises and my abdomen began to swell. I was told it was normal and would go away. With each day the swelling increased and the pain increased. I was discharged and kept going to my surgeon and the ER because the swelling kept growing on the right side of my abdomen. in 5 days it was up to 20lbs.

I always took it with food. How long do you take them? Are there any of you only taking lovenox and folgard but not aspirin? I don't know how long my stomach can handle aspirin....

ve used lovenox with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder. Lovenox is perfectly safe. does not cross the placenta but thins the blood just enough and very evenly to prevent blood clots. there are no side effects except maybe I bruised slightly easier.

I did a miscarriage work up in Feb to find out if there was a specific reason for my miscarrying. Turns out I have a bloody clotting disorder. I got pregnant again (and started the Lovenox injections) and everything was going well until last week. I began having spotting. Hi I hope someone can help me! Had 2 Miscarriages last year. I'm currently 6w 1d pregnant. Saw fetal pole, heart beat and yolk sac yesterday. Now I have gotten a surprise BFP and my doc is talking about Lovenox (low dose). Maternal fetal medicine says NO WAY its too risky without having a diagnosed blood clotting disorder, but my OB and RE are willing to put me on it. I'm concerned about the risks (to myself, I know it won't affect the baby). Is it all that risky? Could it help in my situation? I dont know what else to do but really want to have more kids!

t take Lovenox. I use one called Arixtra, when I need it. Both Lovenox and Arixtra are shots that you give yourself at home. Arixtra is a once-a-day injection; I'm not sure if Lovenox is given once a day or twice a day. A doctor or nurse can show you how to give yourself the shots. The injection will make a blue spot under your skin that looks like a bruise, but it is not painful.

I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.

Anyone taking Lovenox? Im 9 weeks and between the lovenox and the prenat vit I feel groggy all the time..just wondering if lovenox makes you feel bad..

We are 8w5d pregnant now. Our RE recommended Lovenox/Prednisone/Baby Aspirin. How do you know when it's safe to stop each med? Nurse said it's usually through 12 weeks. But I have seen other people say online they took Lovenox until 36 weeks. Since this protocol worked, I'm scared to stop any of them. Thanks.
