how does levoxyl work

s to hypo, so I am wondering how long it might take for me to start getting relief and get back to life with the help of levoxyl? Also, does it help at all with weight loss? I know I'll have to exercise, but I can't believe all the extra pounds I am carrying are because of my diet. Thank you for any advice!! Take care...

That is EXACTLY how I feel every day. I'm on Levoxyl 150 mcg but have been all over the board since 2002 from 187 to 100 mcg.....no endo has been able to get it "right" and keep it stable for more than a few months at a time. I have bottles full of different levels of Levoxyl that I have been on and have had to change mid-way through the dose....I'm very frustrated and confussed.

Hi, My Doctor started me with Levoxyl at 50 mcg (he said at this dose it had no additional fillers - he was concerned that I was reacting to fillers which is odd as he had me on 50 mcgs of Tirosint prior and pulled me off because he thought I was reacting to Tirosint (my skin was peeling). Interestingly he tried 75 mcg of synthroid (which I do have hay fever so that didn't work) and said I really needed 75 mcgs but I guess he wanted to see how well I would tolerate the levoxyl.

After the RAI I felt great for a few months. When the doctor put me on Levoxyl, after I supposedly went a LITTLE hypo, I started feeling like ****. I have more anxiety, can't sleep and my heart gets pumped up easily. I get out of breath real easy too. I think my heart is affected and I have chest pains. I feel sick and nauseated all the time and have to go lay down even at work, so I'll eventually lose my job if something isn't done.

I will probably either go back to taking my Nutri Thyroid at an increased dose or try Levoxyl. Has anybody got any experience with this drug or Evotrox Liquid ?? I have a very mild hypothyroid problem, but when they treat it with even very small doses of synthroid (50mg) I have a severe reaction (like I've reached a toxic dose). This last time I took 25 one day, 50 the other for 14 days and have now been having a reaction for over 30 days! (My doctor says I metabolize weird.) I can't stay on this merry-go-round any longer, I have to get off. I can't work, can't tend to my child...

Is there another non-generic for synthroid? It does not work for me. I was taking a pill that was not round and believe it worked better, levoxyl (sp?) Are these the same or is one preferred over the other? I have such exhaustion it becomes difficult to do anything.

She had an idea that maybe my thyroid was out of whack so off I went for blood work. Oh my goodness I never knew how complicated the thyroid is. I thought - oh, a pill - hurray- I'll magically feel better. In my ignorance I didn't pay much attention to the lab results. All I came away with was "normal number is 4 - you're a 16". She prescribed Levoxyl 25 mcg. Well.

My doctor sent me to an endocrinologist who gave me levoxyl to shirnk it. My blood work all came back within normal ranges. The levoxyl caused me to have an allergic reaction after taking 1/2 of the smallest dose for 3 days(panic attack, itchy skin and scalp and shortness of breath.) Hi Everyone. I have to switch to new thyroid med from Levoxyl. I am on 137 mcg Levoxyl, but having some hyperT symptoms: jittery, difficulty sleeping, heart palps, BP went up to high normal, etc. Doctor just prescribed 125 mcg TIROSENT. Oooooh, yeah, do I know why! If you are over 50, OR if you have been hypo for more than a few months (severely hypo), OR if you have a history of heart arrhythmias, the starting dose should be, as you stated, 12.5-25 mcg. I qualified for all three categories, and my (former) PCP started me on 88 mcg (had never been on thyroid meds before). Within a couple of weeks, my heart arrhythmia had gone wild. I backed off to 44 mcg. Another couple of weeks, same scenario. Backed off to 25 mcg.

Hello. I take Levoxyl .112. Your TSH probably was out of range, meaning that your thyroid is not making enough hormone and the Levoxyl will assist with that. Then your thyroid won't have to work so hard to keep up with the demand.

The aches and soreness does seem to increase if I do the least bit of work. And if I do alot of work, like work in the flower bed I am just about past going the next day.

i have hypothryoidism, osteroarthritis, degenerative disk disease, migraine headaches, vitamin d and b12 deficient. I was told I have fibromyalgia as well but not sure how to treat all of this. The main thing that bothers me is the fatigue no energy especially when waking up. I am in pain management and I am working but it is getting very hard to get up in the morning and go to work with the fatigue. Any suggestions? I also take zoloft.

It looks like you need about 80mcg of Levoxyl to get you where you want to be. There is a way to do that by figuring a weekly total, and taking a larger dose one day a week. But... You say you feel off and your thyroid looks swollen. You may be going into another bout of thyroiditis, and your levels may start jumping around again. They may be now. Have you had antibody tests run? Have you had an ultrasound of the thyroid?

Thanks!!! I never had the fluid retention before the Synthroid, does that still apply? I know I did not have the water retention before this. Do you think if my levels get better that I will not have this problem? Why would I suddenly get fluid retention when I start Synthroid?

ve heard that before, but anyways he told me to quit the cortef, take half my does of T3 and take 100 mcg of levoxyl today. So I halved my T3 to just 7.5 mcg and took half of my leftover 75 mcg levoxyl bc I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have any side effects. WELL I did, the minute after i swallowed my T3 and levoxyl I got this terrible heartburnish feeling between my breasts, like someone is sitting on my chest.

So how much Armour and how much Levoxyl hae you settled on?

m going to be finishing up the last of my Tirosint on Thursday, so will be starting Levoxyl on Friday. I can let you know how it goes, but I have no qualms about starting it.
