Avatar f tn Hi! I'll be taking femara 2.5 CD3-7 next week for superovulation. Has anyone had success with femara? I'm not counting on it to work after just 1 cycle, but I'm really hoping it will! Does anyone who has taken femara have any advice? Did you ovulate later than usual???? Any info you can give is appreciated!!!!!
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and we apologize for delay in response! We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
255732 tn?1318517822 Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. Best of luck to you!
Avatar n tn I tried clomid as well a couple of years ago, with very similar side effects as you describe. The fertility specialist I am seeing now put me on Letrozole. Letrozole is actually a drug used for women with breast cancer. One of the 'side effects' is that it stimulates ovulation. Of course the dose you take for fertility purposes is much lower compared to taking it for breast cancer. I did a little research on my own and found that Letrozole is actually much safer than clomid.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, My dr. prescribed me to provera to help me get a period. I took it for 7 days, 1 tablet a day, at 10mg. I'm also on 1000 mg of metformin, and 100mg of spironolactone each day. I've finished my 7 days of the provera and have not had a cycle. I've had spotting but no full fledge flow. This is very concerning to me. After I went off the pill in July of 2010, I was getting cycles each month, not always the same days apart, but pretty close.
1340383 tn?1309990914 yea, that s what I've heard..that letrozole doesn't thin the lining like Clomid...I would be starting it from next cycle...lets see how it goes... Was really disappointed with Clomid... good luck to you!!!
256553 tn?1258883918 I used letrozole after 6 cycles of clomid didnt work. I got a BFP and the second letrozole cycle ( with IUI ). Good luck!
1287560 tn?1272216521 When I went back to my OB to begin my prenatal care, she asked how I ended up getting pg. When I told her about letrozole, she said she never heard of it. So....keep your head up. It can and it does work!!!
6889053 tn?1386025503 m sure your day is coming soon! =) It does make more sense to take Letrozole over Clomid, I just pray it works because I'm turning 36 this month and really don't want to wait much longer. I know this day and age women are having children at all ages, I personally just do not want to wait too long. Thank you for giving me hope.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi everyone!!! I hope you guys had a Merry Christmas.. I haven't been on here for almost a year.. we took a break. i recently went back to my doc who wants me to start leterzole my next cycle.. Avatar m tn Hi, my name is heather. I have a 7 year old daughter that recently had a bone test done and it showed her bone age at 10 years old. I am not sure what this means she 4'6 and weighs 82 lbs. how does this affect her growth? She was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism and has a very large thyroid gland. Where do I go from here and what should be my concerns?
Avatar n tn t want to waste time and money on things that did not work. I was blessed to have insurance cover most of the cost but it is expensive. Does your insurance cover fertility cost? Also, have you gotten a second opinion from another RE? I actually went to another RE for advice and decided to transfer my file and I am finally pregnant with 1st try at the new place. Good luck with everything and I will pray for you.
1057389 tn?1325465587 What does IUI mean? Implantation occurs between 6-12 days. Implantation bleeding happens no more than 24 hours. I am on my third treatment cycle of letrozole and the last cycle I mistook the break through bleeding as implantation bleeding, which occurred on 6 nonconsecutive days after I ovulated. This is so hard on the heart?!! I hope that this is your month to get pregnant! If any of you are wanting to use letrozole they have a free 30-day trial http://www.femara.
Avatar n tn will it actually bring on a period and not anovulatory bleeding? and how does that make a difference.? also i dont understand why i did not ovulate?
Avatar f tn If so, you might not have the same issue this month, since clomid is know for thinning the lining in some women, while Letrozole/Femara does not. If the 2 mm lining was this month, on the other hand, I would question your doctor about this and maybe ask for an estrogen supplement next cycle (I think it's too late this month). Best of luck with everything!
Avatar f tn s switch to injectibles if clomid protocol does not work after certain number of cycles. Talk to your doctor about other alternatives. Good luck.
Avatar f tn re said its probably from the clomid and that if this last iui didnt work they would have to switch my meds. what do they put you on if clomid is causing problems?
1204794 tn?1300704113 I used to have 9 to 16 days of bleeding before letrozole! After being on letrozole, how many days are you bleeding? This is my second time with Letrozole and I had 9 days of bleeding the first time. By Day 5 I'm ready to quit letrozole because it makes my bones a bit achy, my breasts are super tender and less firm, and overall I feel like I constantly have a buzz that you get with one glass of wine.
Avatar n tn Sometimes clomid, although it makes women with PCOS ovulate, causes the uterine lining (or endometrium) to be too thin to support a pregnancy. Letrozole does not have this side effect. Another set of drugs to consider are injection fertility drugs. It is pretty common for clomid to fail - only about 50% of women who ovulate on clomid actually get pregnant. For those who do not get pregnant on clomid, the success rate with the injections is very good.
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar f tn what does letrozole do?
1360237 tn?1351816181 now I do know that a lot of people do get side effects from Letrozole as well but it does not thin the uterine lining like clomid does...so is better that ways... lets see how that goes for me next month!
Avatar f tn On days 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 I need to take 1T/day of Letrozole (to stimulate folicle growth). From day 8 onwards 2T/day of Progynova (to ensure thickening of my uteral lining) and from the 3rd day after ovulation, I need to take Duphaston. I can tolerate Letrozole and Duphaston without any problems. But Progynova gives me horrible side effects: dizziness, extreme low energy level and anxiety attacks (never had anxiety before).
Avatar n tn We are waiting on an appointment for an MRI to check out the possibility of the mass and to run some more blood work to see if it is something that was passed down from us (the parents). The doc stated that he would have to get a shot every 6 months or so i belive it was estrogen to keep his bone age where it is. She said the shot was originated for women who had one breast removed due to breast cancer. The shot stopped cancer from spreading to the other breast.
1287560 tn?1272216521 I was seeing a RE and he put me on it and also did IUI with it. I am now 12 weeks pg with Twins. It can and it does work! :) When I went back to my OB for my prenatal care, she asked me what was done to get me pg and she said she had never heard of it....so that may be why. Best of luck to you!!!!
Avatar f tn I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and have been offered a trial on Letrozole before and after surgery along with radiotherapy. I would appreciate knowing any side effects when taken along with Lithium and mood swings suffered if any.
1640824 tn?1325888415 My fertility doctor put me on 2.5 letrozole days 3-7. Has anyone got pregnant with this medicine? How long did it take?
