ve gone through the same kind of bipolar depression and geodon didnt help at all, it just me really hungry and sleep for 18 hours after each 40 mg dose... seroquel does work but stay at a low dosage or better yet lamictal is supposed to have antidepressant features.

I've been on Seroquel for almost 6 years and yes it does work. The right dose gets rid of the anger. I've tried lowering my dose to 300mg but I get really angry so 400mg keeps me peaceful and generally happy. It's good because it makes me sleep. If I get depressed I usually take Wellbutrin with it and it works great.

How long does it take for an increased level of Lamictal work? My doctor upped my mgs from 125 for 1 week, then 150. I've felt more restless and have a hard time comprehending things when my husband asks me a simple question, such as where is something. I don't like this feeling, but I'm holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't.

I started Lamictal three weeks ago and am at 200mg. Started Latuda about four days ago at 80 mg. Serequel 100mg to sleep. Doc says I might have BP. Not sure if it's BP or deep depression. How long does it take for these meds to work? I'm on and off and teary and a bit sick. I'm not hopeless anymore, but still very scared. Does anyone have advice?

Has anyone used it ? And if you have how did it work for you.. and what were some of the side affects, i just want to know because i got put on it today and i want to know other peoples opinions about it.

I am very excited. I got put on lamictal I am excited to see how it will work when the dosage is set to the mg for me! But I have to say. Even with the low dosage I am take. I have had some trouble sleeping.... I know some people get put on saraquil ( sorry if I spell it wrong lol). But I was on that before and it gave me very scary and intense hallucinations So I want to stay away from that. And I have Xanax. But I took that last night and still had trouble falling asleep....

Its a difficult balance as regards many medications, Lamictal included between side effects such as cognitive confusion and efficacy. Please work with your psychiatrist to find a workable dose. I know when I was on Lamictal that when it didn't work I was given other mood stabilizers as adjuncts (add on medications). However as some mood stabilizers may interact with Lamictal and could not be used you'd need to ask your psychiatrist what would be potential options.

Does anyone know the theraputic range for lamictal? I have taken 1200mg lithium for 19 years but now I am having to switch to lamictal because of health reasons.

Just curious if anyone is on this med and how long to takes to work? I have been on it about 4 weeks or so, and I am still titrating up to the full dosage, which should be in the next 2 weeks. (I am taking it to see if it will prevent my head/scalp/face/ear neuralgia's.) I am just wondering if you have to wait until you are on the full dosage to see if there is any improvement?

Has anyone ever been on Lithium and Lamictal at the same time? If so how did it work out? Yes I know everyone reacts differently. I am currently on -1350mg Lithium Carb ER -Klonpin 1mg X up 6 per day -Adderall 20mg X 2 per day I was on Celxa 40mg for about 4 months and was not good for me. Made me mad, no patinces, irrtable, ect. I would like to try Lamictal for BiPolar Depression?

How does Lamactil compare to Lithium for its MS properties and side effects - Ive heard it works well as an adjunct? My pdoc has discussed moving me onto it or adding it to the mix but I am not sure what to do there, ive read about it of course (after all this is me :P) but real information is more useful.

Been searching the web but....Does anyone experience long-term insomnia from Lamictal? My dose is 25 mg . Been on that for 3 days and are already in trouble. Will it pass with time?

I tried nuerontin made me feel awful. So tired, but lamictal helped me from not being able to drive to work even after a full nights sleep, to being almost normal as far as fatigue goes. I'm afraid to try lyrica because I already have weight issues and a major side effect is weight gain. I have been on lamictal for 4 months and the higher the dose I felt better, but a felt like my mood was suffering like I was getting snappy.

Only a psychiatrist can give specific medical advice but what I can tell you is that when I tried chewable Lamictal it didn't work and the standard pills did. Perhaps you could ask your psychiatrist about that. And be patient. You won't see an effect from Lamictal until it reaches 150 mg. and as you know there is a specific titration schedule (I'm sure your psychiatrist has told you this) for raising the dose.

I take 600 mg Lamictal per day. A ton. Thats about it besides sleeping stuff (1.5 mg klonopin, and seroquel--50 mg). I am egn8598 and posted just above you if your interested. I don't have any side effects from Lamictal that I am aware. I do have tremor a bit but I believe that is from the antipsychotic. I think Lamictal is great--I have been on it for about 5 years? Its good to start on a low dose and increas, rather start too high.

how does this help for your bipolar..im on the hi end of bipolar..but not like really super hyper!! was on serquil to help me..had to stop it was causing my heart rate to go way up.........please explain??

You should speak to your psychiatrist about this but often an anti-depressent will make the manic phase of bipolar worse, certainly by itself. Lamictal is a full mood stabilizer so it should be of help. Celexa alone may very likely cause problems. A mood stabilizer or a combination of mood stabilizers is often best although a psychiatrist would know more.

I am on remeron and have been for about 8 months and just started with lamictal.

My son is taking 200 mg. Lamictal for bi-polar he is having a real problems handling repetitive harmful thoughts. He is also smoking marijuana daily. Does marijuana interfere with the prescribed medication?

s your issue then maybe it does work for that. As I said, I definitely have seen Lamictal mentioned in a few places and it's worth talking to your dr. about.

Excess sweating or urination in itself is not a side effect of concern but when the odor changes it could indicate a metabolite imbalance as I said but a urine test should be able to rule that out and although Lamictal does not have the requirement of regular blood monitoring as lithium or Tegretol do its still a good idea to have blood work done for liver functioning and standard blood work and a urine test like with many medications. You could ask your psychiatrist or doctor more about that.

It's arguably the best drug for BP II out there, because it does depression VERY well in a lot of people. It is approved for BP I monotherapy, but it isn't so great at mania. Everyone's different, though, so it may not work out for you. What dose are you on? Target is 100-200 mg if you aren't taking anything that will screw with its metabolism.

I was recently put on Lamictal and it does seem to work, however I have other issues that could counteract the medication. It is really just something he has to learn to live with and adjust to. Its not easy thats for sure, but with the right medical support and family support he will do just fine.
