I take 80mg Geodon. It does not cause anxiety for me and does not help my anxiety unless i'm in an up swing to mania. Then it calms that down. Give it some time. If you are that anxious and lost that much weight, I would call your pdoc and see if he can help you out. Sometimes medications can cause a side effect in one person and not someone else. I don't have any problems at all with the medication.

thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better,but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.

My daughter has been on for about a week and her OCD symptoms have not gotten any better. How long did it take for the Geodon work on your OCD?

I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.

yes my "shrink" (psychiatrist, not psychologist) doesnt know about chills side effects, but of the 2 medications i'm on right now, i had past experience of chills when on a high dosage of perphenazine. so i already tried lowering geodon from 20 mg to zero mg (with my psychiatrist's consent) and that didnt work, now i'm going to try lowering the perphenazine from 4 mg to zero mg and keeping the geodon at 20 mg. hope it works.

I took Geodon and lost a bit of weight on it. It didn't work as good as Abilify does for me but it's a great option for avoiding weight gain. It's supposed to be the best of all the mood stabelizers for that.

i was just put back on geodon wednesday. i was on it once before, but only for about 3 days. i had to stop taking it bc my second son had jus been born and it made me so sleepy and it was so hard to wake me up. well when i went to the dr wednesday, she wanted to try it again. she said the first week being on it is bad, and if i can get through that first week things will prolly get better. does anyone know if that is true? i'm taking 120 mg a night.

How long does it take for an increased level of Lamictal work? My doctor upped my mgs from 125 for 1 week, then 150. I've felt more restless and have a hard time comprehending things when my husband asks me a simple question, such as where is something. I don't like this feeling, but I'm holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't.

I tried Seroquel and it gave me high blood pressure and made me feel like I was going to faint all the time. Risperdal did great things for me and worked pretty well but I just went off of it because it shot my prolactin level through the roof. Abilify did absolutely nothing for me. Man this Geodon sux!!! It doesn't work and it is giving me some horrible side effects. I just went to the ER for chest pain, feeling fluttery in my chest and feeling jittery, and left arm pain.

It did take away hallucinations and paranoia and so forth though. It does work really well.

I just seen the doctor today, put me on 120 mg of Geodon and would not let me take kolonopin. Does anyone know what affects Geodon will have on me while taking Zyprexa, depakote, benztropine, and risperdone.

I was on Geodon after Abilify made me gain weight. The Geodon , for me, didn't work for bipolar symptoms but I am a diificult case. Abilify was the only med that worked. However, I did loose weight on Geodon and for the 2st couple weeks had an usdet stomach. If this drug works for you, and you know it's trial error for us anyway, I think you'll be please with the lack of side effects. I didn't even know I was on it after a week.

I know Seroquel is a good medication but I think it is good in the sense of if You have been on it in the past if You understand me. I would not suggest it to anyone who had not already had or taken it however it seems to be the best option for someone who has been on it for a certain amount of time and can no longer function as well without it.

The appointment went okay. The doctor upped my dose from 50mg to 100mg. She said if that doesn't work then she may want to try Geodon, which is an anti-psyhotic drug. I hope that I don't need that!

Geodon works great for some people and horribly for others, like any psych med on the planet. It is less likely to make you gain weight compared to others in the same class, and may be less sedating, but you'll really have no idea how it will work for you until you try it. I think it's also the least likely to cause metabolic problems out of the atypical antipsychotics, but any of them can potentially do that.

I'm so sorry about your sister. I, too, am confused about why they say she is only mimicing you. I think that sometimes people tend to brush aside bipolar as a diagnosis because, for example, people with hypomania may not be as obvious. But this sounds like mania. I can understand some people act out for attention, but this does not sound like the case, esepecially with suicide attempts and hospital stays. You say she is hiding, so I'm not sure how to help her.

Can meds stop working after a while? If so, how do you know which one? What's the best way to approach that with my doctor? I'm at the max dose for all my meds (abilify, lamictal, and lithium). My doctor feels that therapy will bring me out of it but I'm not so sure. I lead a very holistic life and do not like how the meds make me feel.Having been on only 20 mlgs of geodon for almost a year now it is unlikely that I will go into mania again so long as I eat properly,exercise and get plenty of sleep.I had not been getting enough sleep when I first went into mania as well was on a strict raw food diet taking in minimal fat.I had dropped down to less than 100 pounds and was exercising on top of it.

i have a cousin thats on the geodon..it does him good he said..but Ive also heard alot of bad things about it..is a black box waring..i been on lithiem going on 2 monthes now its worked for me..but some days im manic not out of control though..whats ur blood levels on the lithiem..and why did ur pdoc add that for..thanks WELCOME TO THE SITE..

I have always had this issue even when the medications I was taking were standard medications in common use. When I have a medication that has to be taken twice daily it is usually sedating so I take one dose at night to sleep it off. Then the second dose has to be taken some time mid morning and can be slept off as well.

he was briefly put on meds for a few months the 1st time and this last time he was put on Geodon. Im confused, the psychiatrist that put him on the meds org said that he would probably need to take them for a year or 2...He went back to work and had to have a physical and that doctor said that people usually dont stay on geodon to long...but his after discharge psychiatrist made it sound like he was going to be on geodon forever..he has never had depression either..
