how does foot reflexology work

I guess I'm on a roll with the posts tonight. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with reflexology or knows anything about it. As far as I can tell, it's a kind of foot massage where stimulating different points on the foot is supposed to have different effects. I have a friend who's studying reflexology and needs people to practice on so she wants to use my husband and me as guinea pigs.

) Looking at reflexology.... always been a big believer in the ancient healing arts. Been dealing with foot cramps this year (hey not the horrible crippling leg spasms of last summer, so no complaints!!!), and my hubby has been helping with foot and calf massage. Couple times he has hit a few spots where you literally can feel the nerve connection up to almost my eyeballs.

i went to foot massage place not far from work and got my foot massaged, that nite i started bleeding and having 'show', the doctor asked me what i did that during the day and told her that i had a great foot massage and she asked was alot of pressure made around the ankle and i said yes she said no more foot massage unless you want to have your baby early....i was in shock!!! so this happened to me at 37 weeks... im now 38 weeks and the bleedings now stopped thank goodness...

I hear walking...we walked my cousin through the mall and got her this foot massage (reflexology) that was suppose to help with contractions. It worked! Just 7 hours later she went into labor. But keep in mind, people can be 1 cm for awhile so don't get too frustrated.

Hi I have an appointment to have some foot reflexology. Currently 37 weeks pregnant. Has anyone tried it and does anyone know if it brings on labour?

my right foot between top of heel and bottom of arch has been hurting so badly for about 3 months. any ideas? read in a reflexology book could be bladder issues? also heard could be plantar fasciitis?

You could also try acupuncture or a really firm foot massage/reflexology let the know your overdue and to concentrate on the uterus points :)

Hi! I was in a car crash in May 2013 and got whiplash, I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, they did tests and said I was ok but noticed that I had 2 fused vertebrae from a previous car crash about 10 years before. Ever since this recent crash I've had nerve problems, from the top of my head all the way down to my hips hurt, then turned into a kind of 'itchy' feeling for a week and then into 'pins and needles'.

hi. i have had cfs for 16yrs. have got alot better nut not fully. i have reflexology last week for help in other areas in my health but it seems to have made my cfs worse. has any one else experienced this?

I can say that the lancet for sure was not used for 15 mins before i got poked because i was only person in the office 15 mins prior to getting a lancet testing. I am not sure how lancets work exactly and i have read information by Health Canada which requests people that multi use lancets are not to be shared but only to be used by a single person for multiple testings. My cousin got some type of foot massage (I think it was called foot reflexology or something like that) last year that is suppose to bring on labor. She got the massage at noon by 6pm that evening she went into labor. She swears by it! LOL!

Anyway, if time permits, after work I drop by to one of these massage parlors nearby to get a foot massage...and yes..., I feel so relaxed..and feel so light! However, I can just do that once in awhile if not so busy at work. Now, I am considering of buying a foot massager. I think I am looking for something with heat therapy to soothe my tired tensed muscles after work.. I always believe that it also helps to improve blood circulation.

I alleviate this with Chinese foot massages. Try them. Reflexology works. They work the soles of the feet and on up through your central nervous system and pressure points. I don't like using medication. I do have a little heart murmur and I use to faint a lot. I try to keep my stress level low and reflexology helps. Try it!

I read somewhere that Lymies shouldn't have deep tissue massages. Does anyone know about this? I read that it can rupture or break loose lyme cysts and make people feel worse. Is this true!!??/ Crazy... I know but... I had a massage (deep tissue.. that I must say HURT LIKE HELL), and literally the next day is when I noticed the cognitive problems and weakness. Maybe it is just coincidence, but very strange.

x 210 pounds living in western Canada in a rural location with relatively clean air and surroundings. I do not exercise regularly, but my work does require a fair amount of physical activity. The toe in question has never been injured, burnt or frozen though it has been very cold a few times just as have its companions been.

I've booked in for labour inducing reflexology tomorrow at 2.. I was wondering if anyone has had it before and if it did anything? I know it's not 100% but I was gonna go for a massage anyway haha!!

In my case i had spicy salsa and chilli on the monday night and my sister did the reflexology on my foot and i went into labour later that night (well it was after midnight so technically the next day) but then who knows whether i would not have naturally gone into labour even if i didnt have those things lol. Good luck and enjoy your last moments without your baby girl as it wont be the same again. It will be much better but more hectic hehe! Hope you have a nice easy delivery!!!

I went for a pedicure recently and she felt that my ankles were a bit swollen and 'grainy' in feeling. Shedoes reflexology and told me it's a link to my ovaries. What does this mean?

try getting your partner to give you a foot massage concentrating on the fleshy bits behind your ankles, getting him to rub or squeeze this area quite firmly, if you cant get him to do this, go for some reflexology or a pregnancy massage and ask them to do your uterus points :)
