1063764 tn?1272821064 be an interaction between melatonin and Prozac (fluoxetine). Some evidence comes from animal studies, but how these relate to humans is still unresolved (as far as I know; I been out of the loop for a couple years. In animal studies, melatonin does decrease levels of fluoxetine, but the significance of this is in question. A molecule related to fluoxetine, fluvoxamine (Luvox) naturally increases blood levels of melatonin.
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
527657 tn?1214051850 Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.
1817640 tn?1323045243 i am taking fluoxetine for anixety, panic i feel sick and nausea all day , i can only eat a little bit then i feel very full. i am also having heartburn with this does anyone else take this medication and if so do you have or know if these symptoms are normal?
Avatar f tn There's no such thing as a nervous breakdown. You need to get into therapy. As for the medication, you won't know if it'll work until you try it -- we all react differently. Alcohol increases depression and stomach problems, so that's a problem, not a remedy.
Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.
6021583 tn?1413069126 I went to the doctors and saw a new doctor 5 weeks ago and he said he would take me off trazadone 50mg and to start taking fluoxetine i asked him when i take the fluoxetine he said today and in 4 weeks he will cut down my trazadone. But the 4 week appointment he was not in so i cancelled it.
Avatar f tn It takes 4-6 weeks for it to reach a therapeutic level in your system, and this is when you feel the most benefits from it. You may want to call your prescribing doctor about the tiredness to see what he has to say. He wants and needs to hear from you while on this medication if you have any concerns or questions. Don't worry about calling him too often...they expect this and are used to it. Take care.
Avatar f tn By the way, Fluoxetine is not an addictive medication so if it does not work (and you will know quite shortly after beginning the medication), it can be stopped "cold". The real question should not be "should we medicate?" or "accept him the way he is?" - it should be "what is the best thing that we can do to help our son?" This is not about the parents or what they would prefer; it is about what is best for the child and how to better his life.
Avatar n tn I tested positive but I am allergic to Fluoxetine Hcl, Diphenhydramine Hcl, Doxycycline, Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, Fluoxetine, Azithromycin and Amoxicillin-Pot Clavulanate. What antibiotic can I take to treat this? Amoxicillin?
Avatar f tn I was started on Fluoxetine 7 weeks ago and I have noticed that my severe panic attacks are better, but I still wake up every morning with a nervous stomach which escalates unless I take a 1 mg Klonopin. I can usually go untill around 2 or 3 before I start feeling jittery and have to take another Klonopin. I started on the Fluoxetine at 40 mg and I just went to the doctor today and she increased it to 60 mg. Does this medication really work for panic attacks and anxiety?
Avatar f tn I was on 20mg of Fluoxetine but it wasn't making me feel any better so I got put on 50 mg of Sertraline. On the packet it says that I have to increase to taking two tablets after two weeks of taking one. Even though I'm only taking one, I still feel extremely tired and I've begun sleeping much more than I should and it's made me late for college (I'm 17). If this is the case, should I still increase it to two tablets? Thanks!
Avatar f tn m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
Avatar n tn I was taking Prozac for about a year and half and had just recently stopped (approximately 2 weeks now). I gained about 30 lbs as a side effect (sadly)...so now I am left wondering if this will eventually "fade away" in time --- and if so, how long does it normally take for it to be completely out of your system ... ??? ... Thank you for your time and help.
20003388 tn?1515166040 I was recently switched from Paroxetine to Fluoxetine. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When on Paroxetine and I was tired ALL the time. I was literally falling asleep at my desk. It was hard to stay awake. I do have obstructive sleep apnea however I use a CPAP every night. According to the readout on the machine I usually stay between 2 and 4 events an hour.
Avatar m tn I have been on Fluoxetine (40mg, 1xD) for some time now for Chronic Depressive Disorder. But lately I have been having bouts of depression again that last for several days. I am in a funk right now and can't seem to get out of it. I have no outside stresses right now other than the usual work and home stuff, but nothing major. I only drink socially every once in a while and don't do drugs other than the Fluoxetine and Aprazolam (as needed).
Avatar f tn My Fluoxetine was increased from 40 mg to 60 mg two weeks ago because I was still have panic attacks and a nervous feeling in my stomach. So now I have been taking Fluoxetine for 8 weeks total. Since the increased dose I have noticed for the past four days that I get a shivering feeling inside. I know that sounds weird, but that's the best way I can describe it. My doctor said two weeks ago if this 60 mg increased dose didn't work for me then she was going to switch me to Celexa.
Avatar f tn I have. 62 20mgs if fluoxetine....i skipped a few days of my pills and want to take them all..what will happen?
Avatar f tn Although the tests came back showing no signs of Altzheimers it does not mean that the 80 year old lady does not have dementia. I would discuss this with the doctor. Fluoxetine is another name for Prosac and this is an antidepressant. The doctor must have come to the conclusion that the lady does have depression for this to have been prescribed. I would keep a watch on your neighbour and report any side effects to the doctor.
