Common Questions and Answers about How does flexeril work

flexeril

Avatar m tn Does anyone know very much about Flexeril? I just received an call from someone that thinks they may have overdosed on it. He usually does not take it and took up to ten 10mg tablets today and feels somewhat out of it. 100mg in one shot shouldn't do too much should it? He is in No. CA and I'm in So. CA so I can't get to him. Should I be concerned about him not waking up? Apparently he took six of them yesterday and I read the half life is 1-3 days.
232328 tn?1207090071 I take flexeril very occasionally....it does make me sleep...like 10-12 hours if i take it so i know i could never take it during the daytime...i have a low resistence to muscle relaxers i think after reading on here...zanaflax really knocks me out...when i do take a flexeril...i take 5 mg if i can 10 only if i feel i am really hurting...it gives me a hang over a little bit in the morning and that is why i rarely take it ..
Avatar f tn I plan to wean off, and am wondering what to expect as of withdrawal symptoms. Also, does anyone know of a natural med I could take in it's place?
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi again has anyone tried Flexeril (muscle relaxant)? Any bad side effects and did it help pain , I have I guess myofascial pain. Any trouble with withdrawal gettnig off of it?
Avatar f tn Hi and sorry about your neck/back injury. Flexeril does work a lot better. I was on it for 9 months. It wasn't too hard to get off of. Skelaxin didn't work as well for me either but did work some as I felt it after I got of of it. For short term I would take Flexeril at night (5mg). Apparently Skelaxin doesn't work for you.Flexeril only works for 3 weeks then it is a sleeping pill really. I would go on an off as needed.
Avatar f tn do any of you take medication that makes you drowsy and still work. To be honest I dont see how I can get a job while relying on medications. I lost my job last year because I was deemed physically unfit to continue there.
733362 tn?1489794936 I have been taking 3/4 of a 10mg Flexerit once a day before bed Pain Management Dr put me on 4-1/2 yrs ago while detoxing from Valium (horrible). I'm sure God brought me here getting off Valium. People here helped me so much like Cricket, AtThebeach and many others. I couldn't have done it without them and our Heavenly Father. Was on Gabapentin (for me is a horrible drug). He offered that again, maybe won't be as bad now, not withdrawing from Valium.
221387 tn?1210933058 Don't worry flexeril isn't part of a drug screen anyway. They aren't looking for that kind of stuff, they are concerened with street drugs primarily. I take drug screens all the time and when I was taking heavy doses of opiates no-one ever said a thing... LOL!
237152 tn?1206651036 Flexaril should help you sleep while you are off the opiates. They don't know how Flexaril works, but it does. Soma does give you a "buzz" and if you have the shakes from withdrawal, the soma will actually make you have more anxiety. The flexaril will help you relax and it isn't addictive. Some people though it has a tendency to make sleep for long periods of time or give you a hang over feeling when you wake up.

Avatar f tn I know I am luckier than some to have my awesome husband by my side every step of the way with me through this. He was at work Friday when I took my last 1/2 Noco. But I was running roads to drs appts so even though the anxious feelings were outrageous and about noon that day the "charlie horses" were full force, it wasn't that bad. Then Sat & Sun he and kids were here. He could look at me & know and just do what he does to remind me of why i am doing this!!
Avatar m tn I went to see my pcp and I also got blood work done. It appears my wbc was decreased. I researched the web and found that Flexeril and Benadryl, two meds I’ve been taking since I started working nights and my back pain became unbearable can cause low wbc. I’ve stopped taking both and I am starting to feel better but not back to myself yet and it’s already been 2 weeks since I stopped. I’m guessing this meds are still in my body. I plan to repeat my lab work in a few months.
Avatar n tn Both bottles state the dosage on them that you can take. The Flexeril I believe was given to me after I had some dental work done to help loosen my jaw/neck muscles because I ended up with Trismus. And the Norflex was given to me by my old PCP awhile ago because I mentioned during a visit my neck and shoulders were chronically tight. I suppose I could call my NL and see which one she recommends.... I just Hate calling there!!
Avatar m tn there is flexeril but that didnt realy work for me, zanaflex however worked really good.
Avatar m tn Clonodine (a blood pressure medicine) has been helpful with the chills and RLS symptoms. The only drawback is that I have cotton mouth like crazy and could sleep sitting up right now. However the WD's are much less severe this time--I am on day 3. I didn't have the guts to ask a doctor for the script, so I ordered it through a foreign pharmacy that seemed legitimate (BEWARE there are many fakes out there).
1549643 tn?1495759353 I take flexeril and ultram, which works amazing on my thoracic area. Even the neck pain, went from 2 episodes a week to about 1 a month now. Sometimes I take naproxen as well. I have been taking Ambien when I am at the point of crying my eyes out and unable to deal with it. This has been going on for years. A normal for me is taking two. Wake up still in pain, two more. Last time this happened to me, that would not work.
Avatar f tn Interesting how long this thread has been going on. I too had been on flexeril for almost 2 1/2 yrs. I stopped suddenly 2 months ago after reading the drug interactions of flexeril with norco and wellbutrin. They all effect the CNS in similar ways. I also experienced bad withdrawal symptoms but in the end it was worth getting off flexeril because of the side of effect of muscle weakness/stiffness. Here's my two cents - 1.
Avatar f tn Yes that is right my muscle spasms are severe in my neck (it freezes causing more migraines) 100 mg. of flexeril is what seemed to work best for all these years. I have two specialists I am trying to get into see however they have not seen me in years so in the mean time I am detoxing already. I just need to get through the next two weeks of finals how I am not sure. I asked for suboxon however she said no. I do not know if I can do this alone but I am going to try.
Avatar m tn Flexeril and soma are both muscle relaxers....doesn't seem as if teking both each day would be of any benefit...flexeril is the safer of the two as far as addiction....there are some warnings posted as far as anti-depressents and some of the aminos...I was on lexapro (anti-depressent) during detox...nuerontin, I also take flexeril rarely but it can help you sleep..I followed the recipe without difficulty...
623065 tn?1275503695 Flexeril causes sleepyness, feeling drowsy, cloudyness... It usually is not one to be abused. Generally with spinal injuries, or neurosurgery, if a patient is looking at back surgery Flexeril (muscle relaxers) and Vicodin (pain killers) are the main medications used to help with the pain. If he has chopped the pills up, then he's most likely NOT abusing them. The reason I say this is because he would be taking several pills WHOLE.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply. Yes, insurance does prob. want a referral to an orthopedist first, just seems "the cart before the horse" game. How does my GP know who to refer me to, an ortho. or a neuro. without the MRI results first?? Could poss. cost them more in payouts, if I'm referred to the wrong person?? I hate ins. companies....I've paid in premiums more that enough this year to pay for an MRI!! May have to pay out of my own pocket to get it done.
Avatar m tn There are several muscle relaxers that are not habit forming and work for that issue. Let us know how you are doing and what you decided.
Avatar f tn Not sure you're right about taking two or more of these can cause it. Two of the drugs affect serotonin, but only trazadone does this primarily. However, any of these drugs by themselves (not including melatonin, which is not a drug and is one of the safest supplements ever studied) could cause all of your side effects and the combination wouldn't be appealing to me.
Avatar m tn What I am wondering is, has anyone used Flexeril to help them sleep at night? My husband has some, and I am just remembering how hard it was to sleep. I will have to use something to help sleep at night because I work Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00.
